So is Favre really going to play out the string for the Vikings? And will the Vikings let him?

Giants really need a sustained drive to end the half.

I don't see what the upside is to letting him play (except maybe looking to get a higher draft pick).

Hopefully he does. Might actually force the Giants to address their special teams needs, something I'm convinced they just do not believe in.

And as I type this Blackmon falls down as he fields the kickoff.

There is no upside as far as I can tell. They need to give Tavaris these 6 games to see if he can be a competent NFL quarterback. If not, they need to find one this offseason.

I thought the decision to throw that was fine, it was just a bad throw by Eli. If he puts that inside of the receiver instead of behind him, Samuel probably flies by him and it'll be a big gain.

But, bad throw and the Giants are lucky to be only down by 10 after the two turnovers.

Tackling properly instead of launching helmet first at the receiver would be my answer.

That is the one type of play that I just don't agree should end in a flag.

There was nothing flagrant about that hit IMO.

Gotta go with Lathum on this one. He could have easily blasted Hagan with a shoulder straight to the ribcage, he was wide open for it.

Regardless of what the receiver did you can't lead with your helmet.

I guess. It's probably going to take a generation of players to change their playing DNA on that type of play. Guy wants to catch that, QB wants to throw that pass, someone is gonna get jacked up.

There's some old timey (80s) full length football games on youtube - I haven't watched too much of that footage but I haven't seen any players launching themselves the way they do that draws flags today. Maybe they weren't as athletic, maybe they just were better tacklers, but I'm not positive this is some drastic rule change - more of a reaction to an emerging defensive technique.

The Giants defense has played lights out tonight and deserves better from the offense.

That comment stuck out to me as well. Given the NFLs emphasis on head injuries kind of in bad taste.

Not a defenseless receiver. Helmet to helmet on a ball carrier is legal. (As long as it's not a quarterback, of course)

Collinsworth just said it isn't a penalty because he wasn't defenseless.

That being said hopefully he is ok.

The only time you can not hit helmet-to-helmet is on a QB in the pocket or on a defenseless receiver. Once someone is a "ball carrier" (running down field with the ball in his possession), it's legal.

They already know TJackson isnt starting material. Its the biggest reason they are in this mess.

Kind of a dumb rule; it's not like it's somehow less dangerous because he was a ball carrier.

Odd that they didn't show a replay. I missed what happened prior to the first commercial break.

Was it a kick return?
