Match Analysis
What a brutal match. This team had zero heart today. The shots were taken from ridiculous areas and were not pushing anything into the box to force plays to the net. All the Downers had between 6.0 and 6.5 ratings while the bulk of Westfields team were 7.0 and higher.

Man of the Match
MR Jimmy Moreton (7.7) - 1 Goal, 5 tackles and 11/16 passing.

Definitely a complete performance from the Downers in almost all areas except finishing. The shots that were took were from outside the box. There were about 5 shots from within the box and 3 of those went in. It says something there. It was great to see the youngster do well in only his second match as Radstock had no answer for his speed.

There is something inherently wrong with the forwards not moving into the box. It's like they are afraid of taking an injury. The defense stunk this one up. We are now out of all of the extra matches besides league games. We need to play for promotion and leave it at that.

A truly dominating game from the Downers. Really it was the defensive line that played solid sending the pass up the line and providing a lock down approach. The defense of Metcalfe (7.8), Esdaile (8.3), Hogarth (9.3) and Morris (9.1) were amazing and actually own all goals and assists in this match.

I don't know whether to be upset, frustrated or fine with the results. It was a fairly even match throughout, neither team was able to convert their chances. So yes the frustration is there for the offense, but when your 2 best strikers are not dressed what kind of offense did I expect.

Jake Knight did well after giving up that first goal and we still picked up a point so it does help in the table as well.

Man of the Match
MF Doug Porter (7.4) 1 assist, 14/18 passing.

Another even played match but one where we took advantage of our chances. This is how an Odd Down match should look like when we have all the shots we get.

Rungratsamee was a demon today netting a hat-trick, but Metcalfe was feeding a lot of the passes forward to the mids and strikers for this. Only two Odd Down players were rated below a 7.0 in this game.

With a 14 day break, figured we would set up a holiday treat for the Odd Down fans and play a friendly with the U18's. See how they are progressing and keep the rust off the guys. This took place on the 23rd. This also allows Booth and Taylor to knock the rust off too.

The issue that happened is one of the U18's Marc Kelley suffered a broken foot and is out for 5 to 6 months

2 clear cut shots that hit the wood work are the difference makers in this game. The Downers looked a little over confident in this match. Although it was a draw it is still a loss in the eyes of the fans and the coaches. This should have been an easy win and it wasn't. Booth finally broke his over 600 minute goal drought with the only goal by Odd Down.

It was a tougher game at home than it should have been but the win was just that, a win. The 3 pts helps the squad get closer to securing promotion. The game was a solid defensive affair by the Downers and it was needed with Metcalfe gone. His return will help this team.

Man of the Match
MF - Tom Murray (7.4) - 1 Assist, 19/26 passing, 7/9 tackles
Not bad for someone I was told should be benched due to his poor play of late.

February News and Notes
One match lost so far. That pleases me and scares the hell out of me at the same time. Are we going to hit that bad run here towards the end? Are we going to hit it here in the middle...I would rather have the losing streak now than later.

If the other teams lose though, I am not to concerned but we sit with a 6 point lead and a +24 goal differential between Westfields.

With only three matches this month there is the chance of rust or complacency.

Odd Down will be using a 4-3-3 attacking formation. The Downers are listed as the favorites due to their play on the road but I think it can go either way.

Match Analysis
I don't know what to think. This team had to be told they were being disappointing for them to step up, and it took a shift in the formation and bringing in someone who wanted to prove he was a difference to win this match. We dominated this match and we should have won by at least 3 or 4. The team did step up and win, but not convincingly enough.

Man of the Match
MF Tom Murray (7.6) - 1 goal, 4 interceptions, 20/28 passing.

Injury Update
DM/DR Scott Glasgow broke his ankle in the last match and will be missing at least 4 months before he is back healthy.

This is a big time blow to the squad and right now, there is a search on for his replacement. There are two young talented guys in the reserves that can play and Gary Gray was called up from the reserves.

They Downers have 2 weeks to find a replacement.

Match Notes
This is the fourth match between the teams. Odd Down is 2-1 over Wells with a +4 goal differential. The scouts have suggested a 4-4-1-1 lineup for this game but that will not happen unless we are getting destroyed and it will be worth the test.

Wells runs a 4-2-4 attacking formation.

ST Eriksen / Booth / Taylor

This is how the team should be playing. This was a major turn around and what domination should equal. 5 clear cut chances to 5 goals....I like that. Ward has stepped in and been big while Esdaile and Glasgow is out hurt.

This team might have had their resolved shaken with the angry tirade that was thrown last match. They responded like I hoped they would.

Match Analysis
What a rough game to watch. It was a controlled game but the only shots that we got were long shots. There were very few that actually had a chance. That was good defense by Corsham. We were lucky to get this draw and the team knows it.Their form is starting to come down to earth.

Weekly Notes
  • Charlton had a ton of bids and he reaffirmed his commitment to Odd Down.
  • 21 points is needed from the remaining fixtures to secure the Western Premier Title.
  • DR Glyn Halsall was signed to back up Metcalfe.
Match Notes
This will be the second match ever between the two clubs. Westfields won the first one 2-0. This is for the league right here. If Odd Down wins, they secure the first place spot pretty much for the rest of the season. If they lose, it becomes a tie and the only reason Odd Down would hold first place would be goal differential. This is a pick em game.

Odd Down is running the 4-1-2-1-2 counter attacking formation.

Westfields will run with 4-4-2 balanced formation.

Odd Down Lineup

GK Knight
D Morris / Hogarth / Ward / Metcalfe

I had a recent update install on my anti-virus, I wasn't rebooting my laptop yet...was typing up something and the window popped up as I hit the enter key...it started to reboot the machine which shut down the dynasty just as I was going to save it.

I am going to have to replay the past 4 matches...

Radstock gave us a run for our money. The players felt they had the game sealed up with a 2-0 lead at half time and I thought my warning would help but it didn't. There was a lot of leniency in this match by the ref's. Booth was on fire and it was a good thing to see.

So, I need to put this out there as I am thinking out loud (in a sense) about next season. Contracts will have to be offered to all players on the team if I want them. Do I cut a bunch of players before we receive semi-pro status and then wait and go out and sign? Keep who I have and move forward.

I have a large squad. About 15 I keep up on the starting squad, I think there are 11+ in reserves and then the youth team.

These are the tough issues I love about this game.

Contract Stage

It's hitting the friendlies stage of the season, and it's contract time to me. The board is being tight fisted with the money I have brought in (367K for the past 2 years) and I am bringing in the same with foreign traveling friendlies this season.
