1952 Jacksonville Jaguars Offense:

QB -

We signed free agent QB Walter Weber away from the Dallas Cowboys. He played 3 games for them last year and played well (27/42 328yds 4TD 0INT) and provides us good insurance behind QB Y.A. Tittle.

HB -

Rookie HB Billy Baggett will get the start. He is a bit more dynamic than HB Ricardo Phillips.

FB -

We signed FB Calvin Wise away from the Buffalo Bills. He is a very good run blocker.

WR -

WR Douglas Garcia played for us a couple of years ago, so we decide to bring him back. He plaed for the Minnesota Vikings last season.

TE -

We keep the same TE's that we have had the last two season. TE Rodney Ortega has turned into quite a player.

C -

Rookie C Lou Levanti will start. He looks like he could be a stud in the future.

G -

I like the look of my starters. We will be very strong up the middle.

T -

We may have an issue at RT. Will watch.

1952 Jacksonville Jaguars Defense:

DE -

I like my depth at this position. DE Billy Howton should be a beast. I am giddy to see how he gets after the QB.

DT -

We are a lot stronger here now. Resigning DT Charlie Toogood was critical. I love the signing of DT Brian Nevarez. He played with the Arizona Cardinals last year and was quite effective (49tack, 8sacks). I hope this finally shores up our rushing defense.

LB -

We signed LB Oscar Mata away from the Green Bay Packers. He will be our starting weakside LB. LB Tony Stokes played for the Pittsburgh Steelers last year and provides us good depth.

CB -

We were able to resign CB Larry Phelps and CB Cesar Bustamante, but the key signing was CB Paul Cervantes, the former Detroit Lions starting CB. He played very well last year (82tack, 4INT, 1TD) and will be a force in our secondary.

SS -

No changes here. This could be a weakness. SS Gregory Diehl is starting to show his age.

FS -

I like the signing of FS Neil Ferris away from the Houston Texans. It strengthens us and weakens them.

Well Detroit played their starters. We didn't, hence the lopsided score. Need better work from our back up QB. That was a pretty pathetic showing.

I got pissed off last game and decided to play my starters a lot more this game. You see the results. The most surprising thing I see is something we rarely saw the last two seasons; Big Plays. Two plays over 60 yards and an interception returned for a TD is very good to see. Hope to have a lot more big plays.

The all important 3rd preseason game results in an impressive win for the good guys. QB Y.A. Tittle looks in preseason form and WR Armando Harrington looks like a 4th round steal at the present moment. This kid is fast (85 SPD) and can is a true big play threat. Now to play the last game, stay healthy and start the season.

Well the team that won the AFC South and knocked us out of the playoffs comes to our house to play us. Can you say revenge game? The Houston Texans have rookie QB Scott Rudd (OVR 50) starting for them. He will lean heavily on a declining HB Charlie Trippi (OVR 70) to help ease his transition into the NFL. I so want to destroy this team. And I think my team will be very motivated this game.

Prediction:
Jaguars 24
Texans 17

This was a very satisfying victory. We put our foot on the accelerator and sis not let up until the 4th quarter. I love the running game dominating the the Texans front seven. We did not let their offense on the field very often and we did not let them get any long drives when they did get the ball. I want my defense to play like this consistently.

Week 2 Preview:

We head out to Denver to start a tough four game road trip. The (1-0) Denver Broncos Hve a pretty mediocre offense. Their strength is their pass defense led by last year's Defensive Rookie of the Year CB Jack Christiansen (OVR 90). Christiansen has already taken an interception to the house for a TD and we can not let him dominate his half of the field. We must soften the Denver defense up with our run game and work off of play action.

Prediction:

Jaguars 20
Broncos 19

This game was a tale of two halfs. The trunovers hurt badly and we could not get our defense off of the field. QB Y.A. Tittle did not play well, and when that happens, we usually don't win. DT Charlie Toogood Was dominant and he set a Jaguars record for sacks in a game. DT Brian Nevarez also had a sack. Good work by my DT's.

We travel to Atlanta to take on the (1-1) Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons are not very dangerous on offense, but they do boast a tough run defense. The lynchpin of their defense is rookie DT Fred Williams (OVR 84). He has been slowed by a broken finger, but is probable today and will be tough guy in the middle for our O-Line to deal with. I expect us to bounce back this game though.

Prediction:
Jaguars 27
Falcons 17

What a crazy game. This game with to Double OT (I have the game set for Sudden death and No ties). We were winning 30-13 going into the fourth quarter and just epically collapsed. QB Y.A. Tittle Fumbled the ball with 3:09 left in the fourth quarter while we were at Atl 24 yard line and the Falcons made us pay by kicking a 57 yard FG with time expiring to send the game to overtime. In the 2nd overtime, they kicked the game winning FG to put us out of our misery.

This road trip is really starting to hurt us. Next game is a must win game.

We travel to Indianapolis to take on the (2-1) Indianapolis Colts. The Colts have been playing well this year mainly due to their stiff defense. We are pretty desperate this game, so I expect us to come out focused and ready to win.

Colts 19

Well, it looks like I am going to have to make some changes. This road trip is really damaging our season. The Colts kicked our butts up and down the field. They ran all over us and the 3 turnovers proved costly. Our defense has been horrible the past two weeks and I have to find out why.

On the last game of our road trip from hell, we travel to Cincinnati to take on the (0-4) Bengals. The Bengals starting QB Jason Pinto is out with a broken jaw, so the Bengals are being led by rookie QB Fred Benners in his first NFL start. The Bengals also feature a stud running back, HB Frank Gifford, so our plan is to stop him and make the rookie QB beat us, notwithstanding our horrible pass defense. Our starting TE Rodney Ortega is hurt and will not play.

Prediction:

Jaguars 31
Bengals 24

Well we certainly needed this win. If we can get this effort out of QB Y.A. Tittle every game, we would be hard to beat. Good work by my defense. Probably their best effort of the season. And excellent work by our WR corps. WR Armando Harrington looks like a steal as a 4th round pick. He just continues to make plays.

Jaguars 28
Colts 24

Outstanding game! QB Y.A. Tittle played like the MVP caliber player he is. Our offense did an excellent job of keep the Colts offense off of the field and our defense was very strong at the point of attack. The Colts pentalty killed their drives all game long and we took advantage of the opportunities on offense.

Predictions:

Jaguars 44
Jets 14

These 4th quarter meltdowns are getting very old. We played a decent game, yet, we are unable to hold a lead in the fourth quarter. We actually knocked their starting QB from the game (Hernia) and the backup comes in and carves our pass defense apart. This was a very bad loss and could have negative playoff implications going forward.

Our arch-rival (5-2) Tennessee Titans come into town. They are a pretty balanced team and their QB Adrian Burk (OVR 65) is having a very nice year (91.6 rating, 16TD, 5INT). Their running game is effective as well. Since my pass defense is so poor, I think I will be staying in a lot of Nickel formation and hoping we can shut down their passing attack. This is a must win game.

Prediction:

Jaguars 17
Titans 21

Down 20-0 at halftime, we started a furious comeback in the 3rd quarter. Sadly, we could not sustain that performance and lost in the 4th quarter. 5 turnovers is totally unacceptable. It killed our momentum, especially in the 4th quarter. The playoffs are looking like a non-starter this year. And that is upsetting.

The Jags travel to Houston to take on the (1-6-1) Houston Texans. The wheels have fallen off the Texans this year. They were 12-4 last year. HB Charlie Trippi is still a dangerous runner out of the back field and their passing game can make plays. I just hope to play well on the road and get out of there with a win.

Prediction:

Jaguars 17
Texans 14

The next 3 games are being played against the weak NFC South. The first game is a home game with the (2-7) New Orleans Saints coming into Jacksonville. The Saints are pretty bad on offense, but solid on defense. They are led on defense by rookie DE Pat Summerall (OVR 70, 7 sacks). If we can win these next 3 games, we will be at .500 and ready to fight for a playoff spot. We have to take care of business though.

Prediction:

Jaguars 31
Saints: 13

Prediction:

Jaguars 21
Bucs 24

It seems like the only way we can win is to jump out to a huge 1st quarter lead and hang on until the end. Whatever works, I guess. Our 3rd down efficiency was not good. We made just enough plays to win.

Great replay! I'm replaying the 1970 season. While I don't think PFS is in the same league as FOF yet, I'm liking its features. With continued tweaking, I can see PFS leaving FOF in the dust.

The beleaguered Jacksonville Jaguars are home to host the (3-8) Carolina Panthers. We are pretty much playing out the string here and hoping to keep our pride in tact. The Panthers are the inferior to my team, which probably means they will beat us by 3 TD's. They do feature a pretty good QB/HB tandem in QB Eddie LeBaron (OVR 70) and Ryan Mathews (OVR 72). They have struggled with injuries all year though. I just hope to win this game.

Jaguars 17
Panthers 14

This team is so very frustrating. One game we are world-beaters. The next game, we play like a JV high school team. Despite our record, QB Y.A. Tittle will be in play for the NFL MVP award (99.3 QB rating, 71% completion pct, 24 TD, 12 INT). Just an amazing year. We have to get better defensively and improve our running game for next year.

Beating the (6-6) Baltimore Ravens in Jaguar Stadium could get us back into the conversation of the wildcard race. Here are the playoff standings as of now:

If I can win the next 4 games, I could be in the playoffs. So that will be my goal. Though Baltimore has a mediocre offense, they have a tough defense, led by stud DE's Larry Brink and Bob Boyd (13 sacks and 4 sacks respectively). Our QB is very mobile, so if we can get him out of the pocket, we should be able to do well. Our run defense has to play well this week. Rookie HB Ollie Matson (OVR 82) is a huge HB (6'2" 220lbs) and a load to bring down.

Prediction

Jaguars 20
Ravens 24
