I'll be so f'ing annoyed if Holland doesn't make a significant move. He specifically saved 5 million in cap space before the season for a deadline deal, and if he doesn't use it, then it's eccentially wasted. It could have been use in free agency.

As a Sharks fan, I'm very pleased with the trade. Buffalo gets a player with solid potential in Bernier, but he hasn't really done much with San Jose. And his style of play is a bit annoying for a guy his size. He is good in the corners, but he isn't that strong on the puck when carrying it and other parts of his offensive game simply haven't developed yet. Out of all the Sharks who have been rumored as trade bait (Marleau, Erhoff, Carle, Bernier), I'd say he was the one who I felt was the most expendable.
If we can sign Campbell to a long term deal, this trade looks very solid for us. Last edited by yacovfb : 02-26-2008 at 12:36 PM. |

The bottom line is that the Devils are going to win the Cup now that they have this Bruce Salamander character in defense. You can't top that.

I think I just saw him on his sled and with his sled dogs pulling him along Woodward Avenue. Details to follow.

I love Campbell but you will find out very quickly that he lacks the defensive skill necessary to command an elite $6+ million contract. That is the only reason he was moved...he just isn't worth Boyle-type money (just like BOYLE isn't worth Boyle-type money).

Well, Rutherford had said he wasn't going to initiate offers recently, but there had been a lot of speculation that they were looking to fill up the depth in the middle again with Brindy going down to an ACL tear. I guess Ruutu (with 6 goals and 15 assists) is the choice. Kinda surprised that they gave up Ladd, though. He's been a pretty good scorer at times and is only 22 (Ruutu is 25). I guess whenever Eaves finally gets healthy again, he'll be put into Ladd's spot as a winger. JR has proven to have a pretty good touch with personnel moves again this year given how Samsonov has made an impact after being given up on by the Blackhawks and that Carolina has had a good stretch going since the trade with Ottawa. Perhaps the recent run has fueled confidence in the front office that if they can just make it to the playoffs, they can create some havoc and they're willing to go out and find the necessary pieces to do it. So, I'm inclined to believe this move will help in the short term, especially since Washington made the deal for Huet which means they're not going away anytime soon. |

You should have seen the tears when the Sabres were on a ten game losing streak earlier in the season. Emotional guy...heart and soul type and he actually LIKED playing in Buffalo. The business side of the game sucks ass.

Campbell does tend to make costly turnovers at times with the puck-moving game. As much I like his offensive game, I think we'll be fine. I personally don't think he's worth more then $4-$4.5 million per year. If anything, I would like to see us get a stay-at-home, physical defense men. Bernier brings a big, physical presence that we need up front. Team with guys like Katela, Mair and the Moose; I like this trade. The first round pick makes it a great deal. I like Lindy would use Miller better. He needs to rest him more. |

It sounds like he wanted more then 3 years, and the Sabs said no. As much as I get pissed at the Sabres about letting guys go and such, I do like they don't go nuts like some of the other teams in the league. I just wish they could find more of a balance. Shouldn't you be excited by someone like Morgan Fairchild or something? You know, someone who was a little more... mid-90s or so.

Foote to the Avs for a 1st, most likely
I like this trade for the Jackets, as I think Foote wanting 4 million is TOO much, and we get a 1st out of it. |

Reports say it was for a first rounder. Foote, Forsberg back the Avs. McCarty signs with the Wings, Fedorov a possibility...

Wild ass rumor claimed on the local Thrashers newspaper blog.
Says radio in Montreal is reporting that Hossa andLehtonen to the Habs is nearly a done deal. Sounds like a less than 1% chance of that being real to me, but I guess wildass rumors are part of the deadline so I figured I'd do my part

He's a very good player, and im sure Hicks sees him as Modano part 2. However, the Stars paid for him. I'm surprised at this trade, but we'll see how this goes. I guess they're thinking Turco has at least 6 more years in him. |

Three minor leaguers just arrived at Thrashers hotel in Montreal.
A center, a winger, and a defenseman. Worth noting that there's not a goalie in that group (that presumably all came in on the same flight from the AHL affiliate in Chicago).
