This story has now been completed, and some of the characters from the story are available for download into your own games. To read the story use the link in the quoted bit and make sure to "go to beginning"

No real surprise here...the exact same thing happened with the transition from Sims 1 to Sims 2. The geniuses at EA can't rely on actually creating new concepts for the bazillion expansion packs...instead they'll take great pleasure in raking in cash for the expansion packs to come in the coming years, which will add the same basic content that you already had via the expansion packs for Sims 2.

That's one thing that's always bugged me about the Sims...how hard can it be to come up with new content ideas, really. I mean, just live your frickin' life and you can come up with countless new ideas.
