Btw, love that I just looked at Geno Smith's line, saw 25-35, 268 yards and 4td's with 0 picks, and thought "Wow, that's a pretty bad game." |

Wow apparently the pollsters don't think much of GT.
16 point win, coupled with 6 teams ranked ahead of Clemson losing. Results? Drop a spot in the poll. |

More likely a result of your loss no longer looking as acceptable (good?) as it did a week ago. And anybody that thinks much of GT doesn't know much about football. A bad, heartless, almost talentless team with no coaching.

Except that those two are no longer relevant (never heard of the latter) while OSU (and others I assume) is still producing a very cool halftime show. |

You've heard of the Kilgore Rangerettes, or at least saw 'em. Pretty much the most recognizable feature of the Cotton Bowl parade other than the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders. As for the rest, outside of band parents and band alums, hardly anybody gives a flying fig about watching marching bands on television, except maybe your own school's once in a while. There's the occasional cool moment but anything more than 30 secs of anyone else's band is pretty much unbearable.

Watching string bands has been pretty popular in Philly.

Yeah, I admit it's a slightly different context.

158-0. This will be a huge game for Missouri, and I'm not sure how motivated 'Bama is right now. It might be more interesting than need be, but we'll see.

I actually got tickets to the FSU game along with my brother-in-law, an impromptu gift from my father-in-law, though we all didn't sit together (long story about relationships between fathers and sons and the strains they have at times goes here).
Anyway, I was pretty sure State was going to get flattened after the way they f'ed up the Miami game last week and FSU had been doing impressively so far. So, I wasn't totally sure if I wanted to go and if so, when to say it was over and cut my losses and leave. 16-0 at the half was pretty doggone close, especially considering just how poorly the offense was playing to that point with FSU getting the ball to start the second half. I was sitting there counting blessings that it wasn't 28-0. After so thoroughly screwing things up in Miami last week, the defense was doing all it could and it was going to waste because the offense was so inept. I confess that if FSU had pushed the lead to 23-0, I was probably going to tell my BIL that it was time to go. It never got there, of course. Got the fuzzy phone pictures to prove it. Thankfully, State has a bye this week or I'd expect them to have a huge letdown game and get beat. Someone posted our recent success against FSU. What they didn't post was the typically equal and opposite reaction in our games the following week. We've beaten FSU eight times since 1998 including this weekend. Once was in the season finale in 2002, so there was no other follow-up game. The other six times, we lost the next week (to Baylor, BC, Wake Forest, etc, so not really murderer's row). Time to see if the Notorious T.O.B. can re-write the script for once. Having said all that, GO STATE!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! |

I'm sure Arizona will gladly find a place for him.

Congrats, Wolfpack, but I think that might have been the ACC's best chance at a national champion for a while to come.
