The 1994 listing was hilarious, BTW.

May not make a difference, but love to see the Rangers pushing the Jays in the first game. Great reminder for the Royals that you can end up in a really bad place in a really big hurry if you lose the first home game in a five game series.

I thought the whole point of the 1 game was to play it the day after the season and then directly push into the Divisional playoffs the next day. Instead we wasted 2-3 days of good weather for basically nothing.

And adding the 5th team really increases the chances of having to have all manner of tiebreaker games. Maybe it was just me, but it seemed to happen far too often when I was running an OOTP league.

I agree with the 154/3/5/7/7 thing AE posted. If they're set on having 162 games, then perhaps the first week or two of the season should start earlier in warm weather climates, domes, and alternative host locations. Baseball in November is a really awful idea

Rangers get the first game, 5-3.

Hopefully Beltre is ok. The guy is tough as nails and to see him in that much pain is worrisome. Bottom of the order gets it done for the Rangers.

1901-1960/1 - 16 teams, 2 in playoffs (.125)
1962-1968 - 20 teams, 2 in playoffs (.100)
1969-1976 - 24 teams, 4 in playoffs (.167)

1995-1997 - 28 teams, 8 in playoffs (.286)
1998-2011 - 30 teams, 8 in playoffs (.267)
2012-present - 30 teams, 10 in playoffs (.333)

I'd like to see a realignment into four divisions, get rid of the two-league concept (as far as rules and stats go), and go back to four playoff teams.

If you disagree, get off of my lawn.

Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

It's been a great year, but I still have to pinch myself. Can't believe the Royals are in the playoffs for a second straight year.

David Price has lost his first 6 post-season starts. Four of those were to the Rangers.

Let's be honest here. You see the Royals in the postseason for the next half decade..

Boy, kudos to the Astros so far. They haven't missed on their mistake pitch opportunities. Meanwhile, the Royals had three hitters that all clearly guessed right and all flew out to the warning track. That's the difference in the game so far.

Amazing strikeout stats through eight innings. Astros have 14 K's, Royals have 2 K's.

Is MLBN the only major network that shows defensive positioning on screen the whole time?

First time I've seen it. Definitely cool...just don't know how necessary it is to have it for every at bat vs a quick camera shot here and there.

What happens to the state of Texas, if both the Astros and Rangers make it to the LCS?

Going to extra innings. Game really settled down after a frantic first couple of innings.

I'm working them both in on Sunday. The Cowboys-Patriots, when walking over for Rangers-Blue Jays.

Well, so far the home team hasn't won a game in the playoffs.
Toronto has that going for them, when the series shifts to Texas.

*EDIT*
Until KC today.

Good win for the boys in Blue. Got to go steal one in Houston now. Preferably Sunday, so they get a freeroll on the road in game 4.

Fantastic resilience from Cueto (still hate him) and the rest of the team after a very rough start.

Incredible tag out on Davis' kick-off throw against Gomez in the 9th!

Cripes. I'm trying to watch the Dodgers/Mets gamae and all I keep noticing is Larry King sitting in the front row just to the right of the sign behind the plate. His wife is a LOT younger than him.

Did he ever get huge money? Maybe the last 10 years or so at CNN I guess, but a lot of his career was in overnight radio and hosting a cable show. I can't imagine he's got the kind of cash that compensate for his gangly, gecko like frame. I'm sticking with lizard powers. And good job Dodgers!!

Two excellent pitching performances and all the discussion is focused on Larry King's old balls?

Was great to see deGrom step up and be back to his first half self. Fuckin Cuddyer and his horrendous defense almost blew it for him.

How did Dodgers fans feel about Kershaw getting pulled in that spot?

Joe Maddon won that game for the Cubs tonight.

Now here's hoping Jake takes care of business on Monday.

So you can't plow into a catcher, but you can plow into a SS. Got it, MLB.

(Plus, you don't even need to touch the base to be safe.)

After seeing what Papelbon and Utley have done the last few weeks, I'm going to be mighty disappointed if Cole Hamels doesn't murder someone in his next start.
