Too bad Gordon has mostly fallen apart since then and Moustakas improved only because his first half was so dismal.

And best hitters in the AL? Let's see what Fangraphs says:
http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.asp...rs=0&sort=16,d
Second half wOBA of .379, good for 9th. Didn't realize he was hitting that well so the claim holds up.

The rest of the list has some "fun" bits to it:
  • Look who's right behind him in 10th and could help a flailing offense- why it's Rookie of the Year candidate Wil Myers. Boy, wouldn't it be great to have a prospect like that?
  • I thought Butler had been having a subpar 2nd half but 17th tells me otherwise.
  • Sal Perez comes in at 26th. Gotta like that, coming from a C (2nd behind Santana)
  • The aforementioned Gordon is 50th, Moustakas is 53rd, and Escobar is 81 out of 81. Oof.

So Vlad Guerrero is officially retiring now. What a great player he was in his prime. It is too bad he had to leave the game this way, out of baseball for two years but still trying to play, instead of wrapping up his final season this year playing.

Heading back to the Ballpark tonight. Still not hungry from last night.

Hopefully Yu can finally get his no-hitter, after two close calls this season against the Astros. And it is Yu Darvish K Counter Bobblehead night.

Good news on Machado - no MCL or ACL damage, was a medial patellofemoral tear instead. Supposed to be out 6-8 weeks with no surgery needed.

The rest of the list has some "fun" bits to it:
Mike Napoli 3rd, Shane Victorino 7th, Stephen Drew 15th. I recall defending the Red Sox winter signings to an extent, but I don't think anyone predicted that.

And speaking of a sad end to a prolific outfielders career, Ichiro's 80th on that list. .260/.297/.343 for the year, .222/.256/.259 post-ASB.

Card's rookie Wacha one out away from no hitter. Infield single by Zimmerman. Compensatory pick from Angels after Pujols signing. Obviously hindsight is 20/20 but not matching the Angel's offer looks better and better every day.

Cleveland's schedule has obviously been very favorable down the stretch. Not much room for error for the other teams when they have that easy of a finishing schedule.

Ehh... you play in the same division, which means you just had an easier schedule the first 140 games. We're competing for home-field advantage while playing in the toughest division in baseball vs. an Oakland team that plays in the weakest. Go Angels and Mariners! (Especially since Oakland wins all the tiebreakers on us.)

Don't disagree. The Royals obviously lost this race early on. Average results against Houston along with a 10 game and 7 game losing streak were the crucial blows.

The Braves get into another scuffle involving an opposing player who they think watched a home run for too long? Shocking!

Yeah, let's just ignore that the p.o.s. opposing player started talking smack before the ball cleared the wall.

The next pitch he sees from an Atlanta pitcher should hit him right between the fucking eyes afaic.

Wouldn't matter to me if his little stunt came against the Braves or the Yankees or the Giant

Gomez is just another no-class p.o.s., a CEI beanball on him wouldn't bother me one iota.

Gomez stirred emotions on both teams as the game's second batter.
As soon as he homered, Gomez stood in the batter's box watching the ball sail into the seats in left field, stared at starter Paul Maholm and flipped his bat behind him.

Give me a break. There are zero teams in the league you could do this to and not have it end in a scuffle.

How come it always ends up being the Braves that get into these scuffles. Something about them that causes other batters to stare at their home runs?

If a team isn't going to make the playoffs, then I guess they have to try and find some glory in a solo HR.

Maybe they've just got fewer pieces of shit like Gomez on the roster?

Hell, even Gomez said he understood McCann's reaction
Quote:
“If I’m the catcher, I do the same thing,” Gomez said.

Ditto after the Marlins incident, when even Fernandez' own manager called him out for basically being an asshole all season, in his own clubhouse?

So why is it such a fucking problem for you?

Interesting that non-playoff players don't tend to do this to the Red Sox, Dodgers, A's, Tigers, Cardinals, Pirates....

Seems to be bothering you more than the players actually involved. They, after all, are the ones (in both cases) apologizing (sincerity TBD) for being assholes and both specifically noted that they had nothing but respect for McCann stepping up to them.

Begs the question, what's the real problem here?

I love how you threw the Dodgers in there considering they were involved in the most notorious brawl of the season.

I'd guess the real problem is: 73-85 20.0

LOL!

You think I care if my team sucks? Because I was really ripping on the Nats last season as well . But you keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better that the Braves tend to get all huffy against players hitting HRs against them for no reason (which btw, more folks than me notice - look at the comments section in the MLB.com recap on the brawl).

Oh no, he watched it for an extra second - I'm going to stand and block home plate to let him know how tough we are!!

One wonders if McCann is trying to tough-guy his way into another season with the Braves since he knows if the front office has any brains they'll say goodbye to him and give Gattis his spot.

Once again, no team reacts differently in this situation. You didn't even argue that point earlier and instead moved on to something else. And if the Braves keep McCann, it will likely be more for his 117 OPS+ than any "tough-guy" antics.

I don't think I've ever seen a catcher stop a player who hit a HR from touching home plate. Have you?

I think plenty of teams act differently. I think this is evidenced by the problem that the Braves have gotten into at least 3 separate times this season. Throw at him later in the game is the usual "punishment".

I'm really not sure how McCann didn't get ejected for escalating everything. This isn't even the second time the Braves have been involved. Isn't it the third because there was something with Bryce Harper?

At some point, I think they're being a wee bit sensitive and I look forward to whoever puts together the tape of Braves players standing at the plate admiring their homeruns as if they would never do such a thing.

Guess from now on, it just needs to be if a player hits a homerun, they just automatically score the run to remove the chance of this happening.

Come on Issi, you're better than that, did you watch the video?

He's yelling at McCann when he gets in the box for his at bat. He whiffs on the first pitch and states down Maholm the whole time. Then he homers, flips the bat, states down Maholm, and starts yelling at him. He yells the entire time (except when going from 1st to 2nd).

Tell me, in what other instance would that not lead to a bench clearing brawl?

I think plenty of teams act differently. I think this is evidenced by the problem that the Braves have gotten into at least 3 separate times this season. Throw at him later in the game is the usual "punishment".

Maybe the Braves will give up 6 runs and committ 3 errors again in the playoffs and then try and blame it all on a bad infield fly call. Oh and the classy fans maybe will not throw shit onto the field this season and act like they have been there before.

I'm sure if a Brave got plunked twice by another team you'd be screaming for some my dick is bigger than your dick type of retaliation by plunking someone when Gomez does it the right way... takes the son of a bitch deep.
