I can’t believe Matt Canada is coming back. This team produced like it was from the 1950s

Lions OC Ben Johnson is staying put. That's great news. He really clicked with Goff and the offense was great and should only improve with another year and a healthy J-MO!

I think Vegas is a perfect fit. McDaniels, some good weapons and a top running back. I think he'd have a great year for the raiders. And even at his age is better than Derek carr. The issue is the defense stinks so I don't know if they can contend unless somehow they turn the defense around quick.

Why would he want to, though, aside from McDaniels and a decent offense? I confess I have no idea what motivates players after they've won everything there is to win and have enormous amounts of money and no end of business opportunities after retiring.

At 45, the recovery time from normal stuff that you'd hardly notice at 22 must be incredible. I don't think he held up this year, though he probably won't admit it.

I suspect it's the thrill of winning, the thrill of succeeding, etc.... Dopamine is a hell of a drug. Plus, for a professional athlete you know that once you stop, you almost certainly won't be able to pick it back up again.

My Divisional Predictions:

Chiefs (-8.5) over Jags: The Jags are so fun. Coming back from 27 down! Trevor going to Waffle House to celebrate the win! A coach that looks more like a dad who got talked into chaperoning his kid's Boy Scout camping trip than an NFL coach! I will be rooting for them. But it's Andy Reid calling plays for Pat Mahomes.

NY Giants (+7.5) over Eagles: The Giants have a coach that can squeeze the most out of a semi-talented roster. And a QB who is playing with confidence (probably more than his talent warrants, but whatever). And division games can be close. I love that this line is over a touchdown..

Bengals (+5) over Bills: No idea. Cinci has O-line injuries, which makes me hesitant to go here. But I think that these are two really good teams. When in doubt, take the points.

SF (-3.5) over Dallas: Man, how amazing would this be if we could get a time machine and bring Madden and Summerall back to life and play this game at Candlestick? Cowboys/49ers in the playoffs is how NFL football should be. Both teams looked great last week. But the more I look at this 49ers team, the more impressed I am. Brandon Aiyuk is the 4th option on this offense. That's crazy! Look, Dan Quinn knows Kyle Shanahan inside and out. And if anyone can design a defense to stop him, it would be Quinn. I just don't think that anyone can design a defense to stop him with these weapons.

I have no idea about the Bengals/Bills game. Both won a bunch of games but at times underwhelmed and underperformed. I feel like this is the Bills game to lose, but they've done just that a few times this year.

I am in a pick em pool. Straight up winners, no spreads. Went 6-0 in week one along with one other person. Took all 4 home teams this week.

The year of the staff reorg continues. Rams are overhauling like 8 assistant positions and Vikings fired their DC.

I'm seeing the over/under in the SF/DAL game around 46, but if I can find 47 I think I like the under enough to hit it fairly hard. Recency bias and all that.

The Dolphins send their DC, and safeties, outside linebacker and assistant linebacker coach to the unemployment line. Mostly holdovers from the Flores regime/orbit.

Is everybody firing their DC? Are NFL teams considering giving up defensive coaching staffs all together?

Bills might want to consider "defense" at some point. Bengals are marching right down the field.

The line for the Bills looks like the Bengals in last year's Super Bowl.

It took a while to get there, but, yeah, they have a clear understanding of who they have and what they want to do and then Burrow rarely makes the wrong read.

These final four AFC QBs are all so ridiculously good. Feels like they all have the potential for multiple Super Bowls (although maybe not this year).

18 mil/yr to say that looks like an incomplete but also looks like a fumble.

Really think they should have kicked the FG there. You need two TDs and a FG, so get something. Now they're at 7+ minutes and still need three scores.

So… early betting lines suggest this is probably the most tightly bunched foursome ever in an NFL playoffs. All four teams between +240 and +300 to win the SB. Just doesn’t happen. The Bengals played themselves right into parity today.

I assume that play was going to be some sort of hook and lateral back to Zeke after the catch, but feel apart completely when both he and the WR got destroyed.

And did they really expect that to fool the 49ers?

"Hey they lateraled the ball back to the center. Well, that's crazy. Centers are fat and slow. There's no need to chase him down."

That said, it did make we wonder about a strategy for crazy lateral play at the end of the game where you replace all of your O-linemen with skill position players. They only need to hold the block long enough to get that first pass off.

Then you've got 10 guys who can run instead of 5 guys who can run for the schoolyard lateral part of it.

yeah, you could put out all 3 tight ends and maybe the long snapper and a bigger RB as linemen all reported ineligible I guess.

Dak took too long to throw the first pass. Otherwise, it's going to be a long shot either way, but you have 3 receivers running down that side of the field in lateral range, maybe you catch somebody flat footed for a second and can get something going.
