I'm sick of seeing him. We get it, you have lots of money and want to be noticed.

Agreed. It's going to turn into NFL replay where everything is scrutinized. Human error is part of sports.

Well, game 5 with the Jays/Rangers on Wednesday at like 3pm central. Price didn't do well in his relief appearance today, and Stroman is the starter for the next game. Hopefully Price can still be available out of the pen as a lefty.

Review every call but allow people to call the strike zone however they want...

what the actual fuck? I may need LA to lose just so I can move on from this year. What stupid bullshit to think that Anderson would be worth anything at all.

Remarked while watching this one that I thought it was going to be tough loss for whoever ended up on wrong end tonight. For reasons you posted if looking at from Cards perspective, while Cubs loss would have been loss of home field, loss of Russell (?), and not having high confidence in Game #4 starter to keep season alive.

So if the LA/NYM score holds up, all four of the teams who entered the LDS stage with home field advantage (LA/STL/TOR/KC) will have been down 2-1 after three games in their respective series. Will be interesting to see how many of those four survive (TOR and KC have already won to force a game 5).

You know, I was out and missed the whole Utley conversation, but here's my take whether you care or not.

I hate that play. I hate the player not staying within the confines of what he is supposed to be doing. If that's Seager, and he tears an ACL I'm pissed. I didn't like the Utley trade, I never liked the player, I don't care about him at all.

I've always had problems with guys just barreling down on the middle infielder. If he makes a legal slide, barrels over the bag, and takes the guy out, that's fine, but this late slide, off the base play is bullshit. I don't need a SF writer to point it out what makes that a shitty play.

And for the record, the Posey rule, and more to the point, the timing of and what precipitated the rule, at home is bullshit too.

I still think the power will come around for Xander, but I'd take Correa in a heartbeat. Remember when Houston was cheap for picking him #1 over Buxton? (Btw, don't forget about Francisco Lindor either, although I doubt he maintains that offensive performance.)

I just don't understand people who wear 3rd party apparel to games. I've been to some random games when I've visited family in Baltimore and Houston, and I didn't feel the need to wear something Red Sox related to prove I like baseball. You seem to see it in hockey and especially soccer where people will just wear any random jersey from the sport. This guy has money, he can do with it what he wants and it's pretty cool to travel and watch live games, but he's also clearly doing some things for attention.

Bogaerts definitely started to show the power toward the end of the year. He's going to be outstanding. Not to mention, Mookie is only going to get better.

Still not sold on JBJ though.

3 things that make you a f-cking moron at live sporting events.

1. Wear apparel for a team not participating in the event you are attending.
2. Wearing a jersey with your own name on it.
3. Wearing a jersey of a player that used to be on a team, but is no longer on said team, ie wearing a Colts Manning jersey to a Colts game while he plays for the Broncos. After he retires, go for it.

wow i was never aware of these rules (i guess cuz i'm a fucking moron - duh). what if i wear a bears shirt to a cubs game, does that violate rule 1? what if my last name happens to be saltalamacchia, does that violate rule 2? are there exceptions for wearing shirts ironically or to troll (sammy sosa jersey when cubs visit)?

I think Lackey will give us a chance tonight.. not sure who would start game 5, but at this point who cares, we have to get their first.

Um, no. None of these. And #3 is an especially ridiculous "rule".

#1 and #2 I agree with.

#3 I hearily disagree with, particularly if the player in question was a long term star / fan favorite. Perfectly acceptable in that instance. Bonus points also awarded for it being a jersey of a really obscure journeyman player. Those are always fun.

+1

I have a Torii Hunter jersey I wear to Angels games. Had it for several years. Torii left the Angels three seasons ago. I'm happy for spleen that he's wealthy enough to just go buy new jerseys whenever he likes, but maybe some of the rest of us are fine continuing to wear a perfectly good jersey and not spending money on a new one just because a guy leaves the team.

Seeing that Cespedes HR live was memorable and fuckin crushed. The sound of the bat live was nothing I had ever heard before and I've been to hundreds of games. 6 years - 160m, opt out in 4, sign him now.

Going tonight again. Gotta get to Kershaw early and get to the LA bullpen before ours, then we will be fine.

He has that look right now that he will destroy any pitch a left hander throws. Reminded me of that Home Run derby a few years back.

This Cubs team is very talented and I really feel like the Cubs and Cards may be the two best teams left in the playoffs. The Redbirds need to get to Hammels today and force a game 5. Let's see if the Cards have any magic left from prior years to pull this off - it will be a tall order in Wrigley.

1) From a home town team from a different sport, you get a pass (ie: Cubs shirt at a Bears game or vice versa) but many times that is done in protest (like wearing an Eagles shirt to a Phillies game this year, glad that train wreck of a season is over). Wearing a shirt of a team in the same sport that is not in the game can be a dick move and the level of dickishness is directly related to the rivalry level between the home team and the team that you are wearing.

2) Big time violation, unless the team gave you that jersey to honor you for something; like rescuing an orphan from a tree. If your last name is the same as a player on the team, go for it. The exception would be kids 12 and under, they get a pass.

3) This one is a grey area. Depends on the reasons the player left, your opinion on his replacement and what the player meant while he was there. Any Eagles fan that shows up wearing a Vick jersey can qualify as a moron. If not for McCoy turning into a teenage girl that got stood up at the prom after the trade it would have been okay to wear his jersey; but since he became a whining annoyance, violation.

Firmly believe in #3. If a guy retires, easily can go back into rotation. A Troy P jersey is good forever. On the other hand, Mike Wallace jersey needs to stay in the drawer. Hopefully someone decent will wear his # again soon, so you can get the name badge redone.

Post AS-break Cubs hit 94 HR in 2547 AB, so 1:27 AB basically

In this series
G1: 0/28
G2: 1/32
G3: 6/33
G4: 3/34
Total: 10/127 AB or 1:13 AB (rounded)

So, pretty much twice their recent rate of HR

I almost hate it when a question I have no idea what the answer is pops up & captures my attention.

Not going to miss the Cards this year. Not one bit. Not sure I'll be able to handle the Mets/Cubs hype if LA loses tonight either. I'd be cheering for the Mets though, if there was any question.

Total: 10/127 AB or 1:13 AB (rounded)

So, pretty much twice their recent rate of HR

I almost hate it when a question I have no idea what the answer is pops up & captures my attention.

In fairness, the wind was really blowing out hard last night. When that happens, almost any well hit fly ball is going to go.

That's interesting.. I think that park with the wind last night was unusual.. but they do have some power in that lineup.
