More on Sorcerer King.. beat the SK after about 11.3 hours of play (had to restart a few times). I can't wait until more content is added.. but I've never really just sat there for hours at a time and played any EA game.

It has depth, but I'll say this again.. the UI is so well done nothing feels tedious.

I always laugh at the free weekend games, because most would take me the better part of the weekend to download them.

Just going to bump this. Currently has 0 entries so your chances to win are pretty good. All you need to do is link the steamgifts account to your steam account and not have the game. Win and you get the game. It's only open to members of the FOFC Steam group.

Also, I've been throwing the idea around of getting our group up as a Curator. If only for the benefit of our own members. I know we don't get a lot of participation over in the FOFC group, but it would be nice if we had some people who would be willing to volunteer to be reviewers on a regular basis. I can load them up and get us going.

I'm a big fan of a lot of the new items I picked up along the way. I'm a big fan of the game, have only got about 10 hours into it, but I love the difficulty. It is an unforgiving game, to say the least.

FWIW it's just eaglefan and I so far that have offered to some recommendations going here. It's super simple. In fact the hardest part is keeping the recommendations short. They have to be in the neighborhood of 155 characters or so. Stop over in discussion there or message me if you are interested.

I missed out on Warlock 2 so I paid 20 bucks for it. Oh well. I also got Icewind Dale Enchanced and Kings Bounty Dark side.
I really need to stop. I have 227 games and I don't even want to know how many have less than an hour of play time. Then again this is about 6 years of time but still..

Hey guys check out Lords of Xulima. Old school RPG turn base game. It's early access but it's very stable and a lot of game play. Graphics are very nice too. I love that Old school games seem to be coming back.

It's on my wish list. I've heard it's not balanced very well yet but otherwise is outstanding.

+1. Outside of Prison Architect, have found that the rest were not an enjoyable experience. Not worth the risk.

Yeah. I only "buy" them if they are made available to me because I backed a Kickstarter. Even then, I put my code in, download it and just let the game sit there until it's finished. I never play the early access version.

I mainly just activate the code, so I remember that I even have it.

I've certainly had a few bad experiences - namely Darkout , The Golf Club and especially the fuckwads at Castle Story. I've also had a couple of close calls (Spacebase) that I almost purchased but never got around to pulling the trigger on. So I'm careful when it comes to EA games.

But really, most of my EA purchases have worked out well. Kerbal Space Program is probably one of the top 10 games of the last decade - it's really that good. I'm fine with what I received in Starbound. Ultimate General Gettysburg is wonderful. Craft the World looks to be in fine shape as it nears completion. Gnomoria, Prison Architect, Starpoint Gemini 2, Project Zomboid and Dead State are also entertaining, with the first two being exceptionally good games. A couple of those are EA through Kickstarter, but that's fine.

So when I look at the percentages, I'm batting a pretty high average on Early Access games. I've been truly burned on one and two more were quite disappointing. But many more are pretty damn good titles. Frankly, I get burned more by preorders more than I do Early Access because I'm more cautious about EA games and the preorder games tend to cost more.

Some other early games I'm currently looking at (not all are on Steam) are:

Factorio (the demo is awesome)
Rimworld
Folk Tale
World of Magic
Underrail
Clockwork Empires
Fight the Dragon

and
The Escapists.

I bet I wind up with at least a couple of those over the holiday season. Most look like safe bets (World of Magic is the shakiest) and a couple of those I really want to buy to try to further development because they're that promising.

The only EA game I've found worth the effort is Craft the World. I've put almost 30 hours into it so far.

I did JA: Flashback via EA. Towns. Rebuild: Gangs of Deadville (That shows a lot of promise, btw, but I'm still going to wait for a while on it). KB: Dark Side. Craft the World as mentioned. MAV. Stuff like that. I'm sure I could come up with a more exhaustive list for ya if I wanted.

Looking at that list, all I can say is...ouch. Rebuild is on my iPhone. JA was crap. Towns was a near miss for me.

I've only gone EA twice.

Gettysburg, which is solid so far and still being worked on, although I've set it aside for a bit to play other stuff.

Hegemony Rome: Rise of Caesar, which I just couldn't resist. Seems like a good game so far, and is still being worked on as I can tell by when it updates. I put it aside because they were still working on building out further campaigns and core features, but the guts of the game are good, and the studio has released other games, so I figured low risk.
