I'm happy for the Cubs, they have a fun, young team. This Cards team fell apart as the season went on as the injuries to Molina, Holliday, Martinez and Wainwright made this a shell of what they could have been. Taking nothing away from the Cubs, though, they very well may be the best team in the league right now.

If you see a foul ball headed your way, remember you have just as much right to it as the players...

Enjoy the game!

Jerk.

I can't wait for tonight's game. I think the team is young enough to not get hung up on Monday's disaster and can knock Cueto around again. Just need McHugh to pitch well enough that we don't have to go very deep into the bullpen...

Conflicted tonight and I had a feeling this would happen. Cueto is one my favorite Reds ever and knew he was going to be traded. I was hoping it would be to a contender but of course it was the Royals. I want the Royals to lose, but I want success for Cueto. Damn.

So, some jukeboxes in bars these days have a mobile app controller. Some Cubs fan dropped about 60 bucks playing 'Go Cubs Go' in every St. Louis bar he could connect to.

Awesomeness.

The Rangers won both games I watched on TV, and lost the two I attended. Since I'm not in Canuckistan today, let's hope the pattern sticks!

It'sf fun to go back through old posts.

I hated the Kimbrell trade for the Padres and thought Kemp was the key to their season. Kemp was good, not great and the Padres struggled.

My only other "prediction" comment was above. Oops, a year off

Wow, huge call by the umps there to allow the run.

I don't know the rules well enough, so if that's a run then it's a run. Seems kind of dumb, regardless of where the batter is though. If he's in the vicinity and is stretching the bat out like that, the ball hits it, I'd guess it should be a dead ball. But again I don't know the rules. The commentators seem pretty sure it should count as a run.

The ump called it dead right as it hit the bat too. Bleh, I just wanted a good clean game.

It's the right call. And this shouldn't be reviewable but they are reviewing it anyway. Now the Toronto fans will throw even more things on the field when they uphold the ruling.

Texas radio guys seem to think Choo was stepping back away from the plate and that the bat was over the batters box and not the plate. Martin's throw hit the bat when he threw it which is entirely on Martin. They could call this interference but it seems rather iffy if they do.

Video replay on request of the Umps or Toronto?

Really classy of the Toronto fans to make the field the way it is now, have to say.

No reason for the ump to call that dead, that should be a run.

Absolutely agree that it should be a run. At this point I have to say there should be some arrests in the stadium with the way some of the fans are trying to hurt the security with thrown items.

But the fact that the ump called it dead before the run scored... Regardless of what the rule states. Shouldn't that be the final ruling?

Maybe it was his judgement that the runner scores anyway? Not sure why he called it dead but they weren't going to get him at home.

No, the final would be judgment of the runner being able to score had the ump not called it dead incorrectly. The runner was scoring, he was already halfway when the umpire waved.

So I guess if that's the rule, what's stopping someone from doing some weird herky jerky thing at the edge of the batters box, extending the bat out as far as they can?

Also, I guess when it's a stolen base attempt, the batter has to get out of the way or something? Sorry, just not familiar with the rules.

The batter is entitled to the space in the batter's box. But on your first point, if he's trying to incite contact with his bat, the ump can call interference.

The first part also becomes judgment. This seemed to be normal movement by the batter. He was just as surprised when the ball hit his bat as anyone. He was also still in the box as the replay showed, including the bat.
