I don't think so. There were a couple people working. The store opens at 11. They should have at least one of each kind of pie (cheese and pepperoni) ready to go. |

Friends of mine own the Pizza Ranch that's about a mile from my house. In August and September they were forced to close early a few days because a large number of their staff went off to college. I became a temp employee for them until early last month. They had closed on Mondays that entire time and opened for dinner only on Tuesdays. They offered me a pay raise to stick around, but the day job is the main gig and seeing my family every so often is nice, too. They're now fully staffed and back to regular hours, too.
Their pizza, fwiw, pretty good when it's hot. Tastes like pizza inn when it's reheated.

Miami is kind of it's own sorta deal under normal circumstances.
Under my current circumstances, it's even more disorienting. (mostly this is a "yeah, I'm still around, I'm just not online much this weeK' post)

If you read much about him, Bruce is kind of a dick. Still, this is sad. He was such a box-office force for a time, and Die Hard may be the best action flick ever.

Jesus that is a first class dick move to do to your fans. Especially on the heels of so many other cancellations from Covid.

Best response I saw in an article embedded in that link was "If Eric Church really believed in the Tar Heels, he would have never scheduled a show during the Final Four to begin with."

1st, Eric Church does not make his schedule. 2nd, I would absolutely cancel a concert for the final 4. I would also do a make up concet to accomodate those ticket holders.
I see nothing wrong and understand where he is coming from.

It is beyond unprofessional. People have likely been planning this for months. Some travelling from out of town. Shuffling schedules, planning baby sitters, etc...do you honestly think he can possibly make it up to all these people? It is the height of entitlement. |

Iowa last made the final four in 1980 so I'd actually be understanding. North Carolina has 14 final fours since Iowa last went and 7 in the past 20 years. It's not like this is a rare occurrence. |

If someone is willing to forego doing their job while inconveniencing 20K or so people, likely many of them incurring costs because of his decision, over sports then they need to reevaluate their priorities.

Surely there are people who at the least were driving in and had hotel reservations they may not be able to cancel. Possible a few even flew in though maybe not. It's still unbelievable he would do it, or not just make something up as a reason for the cancellation.
This reminds me of a law school classmate who actually ended a dinner interview early because Seinfeld was on. And he told them the exact reason he was leaving.

This! Pretty sure we have all called in sick to work to catch a sporting event, difference being, 10-15 K people don't pay 40-100 dollars to see me pound on my keyboard all day and the business goes on with no disruption to my work since there are others on my team. |

He should have just said someone in his band had Covid or something. I don’t listen to the artist at all, but from what I’ve heard he’ll play for 3-4 hours. The makeup show will be worth it. He plays like 32 songs and his average set length is 2:45

This was my first thought as well. I definitely agree with the criticism that others have shared. I am just noting that his honesty in this situation buys him nothing. Cue Jack Nicholson from A Few Good Men.

When I worked in Cincinnati there was a Costco right down the street from my office in Sharonville. Once or twice a week I would say to myself, hey, I'll go grab a slice and a soda for $3 and end up spending $70 on shit I don't need. |

I got a big laugh while I was playing Football Manager.
I am playing a long term save with an English lower league team where I am struggling to stay competitive on the field whilst balancing the books - I'm currently tens of thousands in the red and barely staying above the relegation places in the 7th tier. I suddenly get a message that says "The board is going to provide 50 million in funds to spend on the team and improve the stadium". I get the shock of my life and think that this is a gamechanger. When I continue to the next day, a message pops up and says "April Fool". Well played, SI. Well played. |

I do find Costco providing good value for basic foods (and the $1.50 hotdog special!). Where it gets us is we tend to splurge on those snacks which we wouldn't normally buy at a Krogers or Publix.

The main problem with telling all your family you’re going to cycle 100 miles to see them at Easter is that to avoid embarrassment, you have to cycle 100 miles…

It's not about the salary It's all about reality and making some noise Making a story, making sure his clique stays up That means when he puts it down, Tak's pickin' it up Game is also overrated BTW because game is artificial. It's about being interesting, being fascinating. I mean, you can't be Jon Arbuckle and expect to have any success. Also, how many female friends do you have?

Tennessee swept Vanderbilt in baseball over the weekend. Yesterday, my son's playing flag football on the sideline telling everyone that Vanderbilt's Letter of the Day is "L", to the tune of the Sesame Street song, "Letter of the Day."
Dude, I love you, but we are in a football game right now. Let's focus on football for about 20 more minutes and then we can go back to the Letter of the Day for Vanderbilt. lolol

That thread was meant to be more light hearted. I should post a small update that you all may or may not find amusing. My post in this thread the other day was more of a "Had too much to drink and was feeling sorry myself" variety.

Getting a new work laptop is a mixture of excitement and dread. I love the prospect of a faster, more powerful device but I hate the drudge of fixing all of my preferred settings.
