Antmeister and I finished The Witcher. Pretty solid show, can't wait for the next season.

Also, didn't know Henry Cavill was a gamer.

Just watched a fun documentary on prime called Nintendo quest. A guy has 30 days to acquire every original Nintendo game and he can’t use the internet. Was a really fun watch.

I finished Messiah. I thought the first half was very solid and then it really didn't go anywhere. They had a nice premise and no idea what to do with it.

The last half of the last season of Bojack Horseman dropped. Hate to see this show being over.

I was still midway through season 5. I finished that and am ready to start season 6, I just can't binge it. Some episodes require a few days before I can do another.

Yes, I'm fascinated by this series and ready for s4. There are events in the series that I look up to learn more (coal town disaster, prime minister that some thought to be a spy etc.).

My favorites are s1 & s2 when they focused on Elizabeth. Lots of history there that I did not know much about.

I've done the same thing Edward.

My wife and I both really enjoy the show. The only issue I've had with it is Helena Bonham Carter was a terrible choice for Margaret. Maybe it is my own mind, but she is too much like Bellatrix Lestrange to be Margaret.

I thought Carter was really good as Margaret.

I thought season three suffered because it didn't have a through line. Each episode was like the greatest hits of the decade rather than revolving around a central idea like seasons 1(her taking the throne) and 2(the relationship with Phillip).

I don't know if this is the right place but I just saw They Shall Not Grow Old on Amazon Prime. It's a documentary film by Peter Jackson using original footage of the First World War that is colorized and restored. No narrator, they use audio from WWI veterans telling their personal stories. Very well done. It brings that war alive in a way I haven't seen before.

I am enjoying Star Trek Discovery s2 much more than s1. The first season was mostly fighting, the second season is more true to legacy Star Trek with discovery, finding new aliens/species, dealing with moral situations etc.

1. First contact with the lost humans & the Pike's "barter"
2. The space alien's death & legacy (reminded me of that STNG Picard's flute/extinct people episode)

Love how they got Christopher Pike in to the picture and Spock (eventually, haven't gotten to that episode yet)

I absolutely hate "temporal distortions and like" plots.

I just finished it and yup, same as you and Lathum.

Since I'm feeling a little down... Lets face it, that documentary was tragic.. all around. My friend told me about a show called "Cells at Work!" It's an anime about blood cells doing their job but they're people. I expect to be entertained.

Finished Season 1 and 2 of The Sinner. Outstanding show. I'd say Season 2 was a little better than Season 1 and I'm looking forward to Netflix getting Season 3 (which started recently on USA).

I'm going to watch this when it's done. Can they really make 6 episodes out of this? My pet peeve of late is everyone trying to copy "Making a Murderer" and stretching out documentaries.

Yeah. I thought the same thing. Someone did an hourish long show in it I saw somewhere along the way. So far it’s holding up. The bigger annoyance for me is I’ve gotten used to Netflix dropping the whole season of a show that I hate having to wait a week for each episode.

I just burned through the first 4 seasons of "The Magicians" on Netflix. I loved it. Super fun show. Closest thing to, say, the good years of "Buffy" I've seen for a while.

We finished Ragnarok this week - a 6 episode drama from Norway produced by Netflix. Really, really enjoyable - sort of like American Gods in that it deals with some old Norse myths living in the present day, but focused around a younger cast of characters. Could easily have been cheesy given all the teenagers involved, but thankfully it was not.

Finished watching The Counterparts s2. Unfortunately, it was not renewed for a s3 but thought the s2 ending was pretty decent. Great series!

I'll check out Dark.

It's an interesting premise, but really inconsistent. It feels like every good scene is followed by something equally terrible.

Thought it was one of the most pretentious and overwrought shows I’ve ever seen. Obviously the subject matter is about as far from it as you can get, but some scenes are so bad and heavily laid on it feels like they are almost shooting for comedy.

The concept for the show seems fine but the previews just make it seem like an over-the-top show. Something that Tarantino could maybe pull off but not necessarily anyone else. Might give it a shot down the line, but there is so much good TV going.

A heads up that it is a German show that is dubbed in English. The dubbing is actually really good. As someone who liked Counterpart, Lost, Fringe, and other shows like that, it's probably the best of them all.

Also season 3 will be the last so they have a conclusion lined up. Should be out some time in June I believe. Be prepared to Google stuff like bootstrap paradox and other terms.

Finished Cells at Work! Very cool "educational anime". Doctors on youtube have watched it and agree that it's accurate.

So now I'm going to the other side of the spectrum. I'm watching The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez. I'm 2 episodes in and it's hard to believe that there are monsters like his mom and the mom's fiancee. Just unbelievably sad. The system failed this poor kid and now he's dead. It's really hard to watch, but we need to hear his story.

Haji Giri on Netflix is real interesting. A Japanese/British crime show about a cop trying to track down his Yakuza assassin brother in the UK and prevent a Yakuza turf war from breaking out in Tokyo.

Give it 5 episodes. Episode 5 has a big reveal that sets the show off and running. One of the few moments in my watching history where I was like "holy shit". If you're not hooked after that reveal, it's probably not for you.

I also think episode 3 gives a big hint to where things are going at the end. It started slow for me too but I hung with it because the reviews were so good. Didn't disappoint.

I finished Tokyo Trials on Netflix, a 4 part series about the Asian equivalent of the Nuremburg Trials.

For most this will be a boring series, it doesn't have action, love interest, no mystery of the outcome etc. But I found the show fascinating as it was about the tension was among a group of justices presiding over the trial of Japan's high level war criminals - their politics at play; their personal beliefs, egos, prejudices & motivations; how they interacted with each other etc.

There was an Indian justice who essentially did not want to convict any of them and now has a plaque at one of the Japanese shrines to the war dead including the war criminals.

If you like history and/or have a legal bent, I think you will enjoy this.

Thought McMillions was still throwing heaters through episode 5, but the big reveal in episode 6 was meh.

Also the (lack of) jail time really grinds my gears. Just a silly lack of consequences.
