Don't really root for the Longhorns but I'm glad to see that Arch is doing well. That family stays out of trouble, have some funny commercials, and seem to have pretty good genes.

Manning was thrown into the game during the second quarter when Longhorns starting quarterback Quinn Ewers left the field through injury.

The redshirt freshman then threw for 223 yards and completed nine of 12 passes on his way to throwing four touchdowns.

But it was on the floor that Manning wowed the 101,892 fans in attendance as he rushed for 67 yards to the end zone, leaving the trailing defenders in his wake as he added to the Longhorns’ tally.

It's part of revenue sharing between the school and athletes.

Per Kemp, The NCAA or any conference can not take "adverse action" against the schools for assisting in NIL.

Sadly Virginia lead start to finish but we did score 24 points sadly we gave up 43. So still a lot of work to do.

We’ve done well running but much of it was by QB so worried about over reliance. Our defense looked really soft (like last week), Tigers marching down the field pretty good but we got an INT.

Fugly win but I'll take it. Taylen Green 12/27 for 151 yards, 1 TD and 2 Int, and 80 yards of rushing. Petrino needs to work on his passing game (and confidence).

Looks like beating Aggies is our best chance for a 6-6. SoS is all over the place but 4 top 10 teams is a pretty brutal schedule.

I don't know if I'm following the latest vampire conference diaries issue properly, but let's see...

Pac 12: Screws up TV negotiations because it refuses to accept that not having a noon eastern game and trying to sell a 11:00 pm eastern game (which ends at 2:30 am) means less value than the other power conferences.

Pac 12: Without a new contract, loses 4 to the Big Ten, 4 to the Big XII and 2 to the ACC. Now just Washington State and Oregon State, which have just a tiny national presence, probably half of that still tied to Ryan Leaf.

Mountain West: We don't want Washington State and Oregon State, unless they accept that they don't have any more individual value than any other school in the Mountain West.

Pac 12: Hey, at least schedule us. Without you, we're scheduling FCS schools, and our brand value will be eliminated. Give us two years.

Mountain West: One year. We'll talk again next year. But you have to promise not to try and split our conference.

I think that catches us all up to today. Tomorrow might bring all-new fun, like the pending self-destruction of the ACC and the Big Ten's realization that 18 teams with vastly difference conference schedules is a CINO.

Oregon St and Washington St reportedly had discussions with the Big 12 and ACC, but couldn’t get equal revenue shares from the TV partners. Those two are supposedly getting a windfall from the remaining basketball tournament credits and whatever was left from bowl sharing revenues and I read that the ACC very recently negotiated with them, but were trying to get that money, as a buy-in, to pool together to try to sweeten the pot for uneven revenue sharing (presumably for FSU, Clemson, UNC, and maybe a few others), but weren’t willing to give them full shares for quite some time.

The PAC really got screwed by bad leadership. I think USC and UCLA probably would have left regardless, but them not picking apart the Big 12 a few years ago, when they had the chance, probably cost the Oregon and Washington and cemented their drop in status.

We saw this some last year. You can redshirt as long as you don't play more than 4 games and a good, experienced, but non-NFL prospect QB can easily make $500K+ in NIL as a quick fix starter for a QB desperate team. I'm sure there will be some more opt outs that we will hear about this week.

It sounds like he was promised $100K and was only paid $3K for relocation expenses. He hasn't been paid anything since then and he never asked for an increase. I don't blame Sluka at all, shady promises should be exposed. Capitalism for all.

It's weird how people can see things differently but I totally disagree. The player and parents should have had an agent/lawyer put it all in writing. I'm guessing the "source" is weasel wording this - they paid the $3K in moving fees, that other $97K wasn't part of their financial commitments.

One thing is for sure, if the collective has paid more than $3K, they can easily show proof of those payments. It's in their best interest to do so since this will impact their future recruitments.

I have no clue what an NIL contract looks like. Does it say in writing that the played can't red shirt prior to the 4th game? I don't know but what I do know is 100K ain't a lot of money and it seems a lot more likely the kid wants to use his success to get a couple million out of his remaining eligibility.

I'm not sure if this is what you're asking, but you can play 4 games and still redshirt, but once you've played 5, it counts as a year of eligbility.

I disagree. I'm not sure if he had the leverage to get a contract. And I think it's pretty dumb for a D1 university (even a small one) to offer a guy money and not pay it, if they want to continue getting people to come play for them.

I think this is going to wind up some kind of miscommunication, whether purposely deceptive from the university, or wishful thinking from the player. The NIL collective has said there was no formal NIL offer made to this player, and that he has received everything he is entitled to. The school has said that the kid's agent, that he recently hired, approached them for more money after the players recent success, and they made clear any negotiation at this point would be a violation of NCAA rules and state law. The kid's family claims there was a $100k offer that the school's collective never fulfilled.

Who is telling the truth? Can't tell right now. The NIL making the statement "formal offer" does leave open an informal offer. Maybe they gave an informal promise that he COULD make up to $100k if he wins the starting job (he was in a competition for that job in camp btw) and the team does well? I would say that is probably the most likely scenario. They (in their mind) weren't promising him the money, but saying he could get offers up to that kind of money IF he has success.

Or they could have just blatantly lied. Or he could be blatantly lying. Without paperwork, it is all speculation.

Reading between the lines in the espn report, the offer was from the OC and isn’t being denied. Or at least the OC “declined to comment” which is pretty much the same thing.

The HC said it wasn’t valid as it wasn’t from him and the collective isn’t lying because it didn’t come from them either.

Dumb of the kid/agent not to get it in writing - sure. But equally 100k is pretty small potatoes when it comes to a starting QB. I’m with Pass, I’m not sure this reflects very well on the school.
