Ask the guards in Razor Hill and Ogrimmar where the nearest mage trainers are.

How do you do that, exactly? I right-clicked on a number of guards, but to no effect.

You should just be able to talk to them like any other NPC.
As an aside, the new patch notes are out. It shouldn't be long now to get the first good content patch of WoW... ...oh wait, it's Blizzard. I should have learned from 1.10 Diablo 2. |

Maraudon is great since mages are a key to having a good group and the loot is incredible. My head piece, necklace, shoulders, belt, boots, sword, and offhand orb are all from boss drops. One day I will also go pick up noxxion's trinket. edit- Im also looking forward to the new mage shield in the next patch. Last edited by Rich1033 : 03-07-2005 at 05:06 PM. |

Grilge is now Level 10. He's now also, apparently, in the "Blood Crusade" Guild (I was helping them out by signing the charter).

Looks like the druid is getting a couple of buffs which is nice. Not sure I agree with Shamans getting a slight buff

What buff? Yes, their training costs were slightly decreased and their tremor totem was fixed. But searing totem was slightly nerfed too. Shaman are probably the most powerful characters in the game, but at least no class has a huge advantage over every other. |

The patch looks sweet! I can't wait to see how the warrior changes affect Brokin.
As for Brokin, he is now lvl 35 if the list still gets updated.

I did, but only managed to confirm that there's no mage trainer in Razor Hill (but class trainers for every other class), so I have to continue to run back to Sei'jin Village every time I level. However, since I keep on going back there for more Echo Islands quests, it's probably not so bad. I think the problem I was having, however, is that on the first night I played, when I right-clicked on a guard, nothing happened. I tried the same thing the next night, and bam I could ask them questions. Weird. Anyway, I'm in good shape now. |

For the Alliance, there's no mage trainer in Darnassus. So it's even on both sides.

Some really interesting data on WoW and class balance. This dataset is pretty limited but starts to show which class is truly overpowered.
The below shows the winner of a PvP battle. Now it should be skewed for rogues, because rogues are built to hide, gank and get easy solo PvP victories. But it shows that Shaman have a 70% or better kill ratio against everyone (except rogues, but they're still over 50% on them). Druid Hunter Mage Paladin Priest Rogue Shaman Warlock Warrior Druid vs 100.0% 31.0% 16.2% 13.0% 50.0% 26.9% 24.5% 45.1% 53.2% Hunter vs 69.0% 100.0% 28.0% 50.0% 45.7% 30.8% 26.1% 50.7% 36.2% Mage vs 83.8% 72.0% 100.0% 87.9% 71.7% 44.5% 27.0% 41.8% 71.5% Paladin vs 87.0% 50.0% 12.1% 100.0% 48.4% 27.9% 23.2% 45.1% 34.0% Priest vs 50.0% 54.3% 28.3% 51.6% 100.0% 23.8% 24.9% 43.2% 46.7% Rogue vs 73.1% 69.2% 55.5% 72.1% 76.2% 100.0% 46.1% 68.7% 62.1% Shaman vs 75.5% 73.9% 73.0% 76.8% 75.1% 53.9% 100.0% 79.6% 69.8% Warlock vs 54.9% 49.3% 58.2% 54.9% 56.8% 31.3% 20.4% 100.0% 39.8% Warrior vs 46.8% 63.8% 28.5% 66.0% 53.3% 37.9% 30.2% 60.2% 100.0% They gotta balance that class...swing the nerf bat! |

I guess they didn't get too much of a buff, but their ressurection spell is now improved. I was more surprised that they didn't get a slight nerf.

As a hunter (my main alt which I've been playing a lot of lately), I'm not sure why really. It kind of stinks that the elite beasts that can be tamed will no longer retain their traits (if I read that right). That was the fun thing of trying to tame elites. But other than that, I don't see any real reason to be upset. I'll bet the ones that are yelling are the ones that were exploiting the quiver/pouch bug. |

Had a really good time last night. Started off the night trying to finish what I hope if my final quest in the Echo Isles (one step up from the starting area). I finished gathering, but when I came back to land, at Sei'Jin Village (a low-level area) a couple of Alliance folks were busy ganking lowbies (although it is a RP server, they were successfully getting people to attack them). Anyway, I took the bait and died. However, 5 minutes later a stream of higher-level Horde started showing up from Ogrimmar and made short work of them.
I then finished my final quest out of Razor Hill - the Fritz (no, not that Fritz) quest. After taking forever to find the opening to the chasm this guy is in, I almost bought it by falling about 20 yards and landing in amidst a bunch of thunder lizards. Luckily I only aggroed one, and was able to take out a few in succession until I made it to the entrance of the canyon where this guy was. However, it was clear I wasn't going to make it on my own. There was already a sole Undead Priest there, who was in the process of getting killed. I was unable to save her, and then died myself. About halfway running back from the graveyard, she rezzed me, and we agreed to group up. And, oddly, it was my best grouping experience to date. The Priest did a great job of keeping me healed while I piled on the damage. We finally cleared a path and I ran in an looted the corpse for the item, and then provided cover (just got Frost Nova - woot!) while she looted. We then picked our way out through the thunder lizards, she healing, me spamming, to Victory!!! A blast, let me tell you. A good Priest is clearly worth her (or his) weight in gold). Anyway, before signing off for the night I finally made it to Ogrimmar, which is HUGE. It'll take me a while to figure out where everything is, there's no doubt. |

Neat Flere...Priests are awesome to team with. My next char is either a druid or a priest. Not sure which. Either way, it's horde.
I finally quit my guild last night. Too many greedy loot whores who won't help anyone else. I'll find a new one soon. |

I made an undead priest (Evila, lvl 21 on Elune) a few weeks ago. The first time we did an instance with a full group, I almost wet my pants. It was so much fun. Being the healer in a good group is an absolute blast. I wanna keep playing that char. and hopefully I'll get to do more large group parties in the future.

I have a hunter as my main (54), i think the main thing that people are complaining about is that there will supposeldy be a dps hit even if you are only using one quiver. Like there is an "unintended" speed boost with a single quiver. I don't know the exact details, because i am in a wait and see mode. I hope nobody has the sandfury guardian as their only pet, because they are getting !#@$!@$ on, especially since pet leveling needs improvements. There is also the feeling that instead of spending time to try to fix the myriad of hunter issues (eg. the pet speed bug), blizzard is focusing on making us worse. Worst case i guess my hunter will be a farmer for my priest alt. Last edited by fflix : 03-09-2005 at 09:43 PM. |

So, what does everyone do to make money? Where do you farm? What do you use for tradeskills?
I started with herbalism, and am thinking of picking up skinning. I've heard that raw materials sell better in the Auction House than finished products. I'm also having trouble affording all my spells when I level, so I figure I should figure this stuff out now. |

Yeah, but skinning is by far the least profitable. If you are going to use them as a money maker, go with Herbalism and Mining. Ore sells very well on the AH. |

Totally disagree, skinning and herb/mining is the best choice. You cant track both herbs and ores at the same time. Plus, I have made more from skinning then from herbalism anyway. My recommendation if you are looking for money only is to go skinning/mining. |

Hm. Well, I've made a ton more off of selling herbs than I have leather. Are you selling the right herbs? Not all of them sell well (or at all). You can make a killing just selling goldthorn and sungrass.

True, I've made a lot off of herbs while leveling (like the ones you mentioned). High end herbs dont sell all that great though while I can consistently sell rugged leather. I've also helped out guildmates with extra herbs, so that likely has something to do with lower profits too. The main reason to go with skinning though is because you can't track both herbs and ores at the same time. Also, all servers are different in what things sell for, so that has an effect on our experiences . |

There's different professions... you need to find the trainer for the profession you want (tailoring, herbalism, engineering, etc.). Ask any town guard where they are, and the trainer will appear as a gold flag on your map.

I started a Night Elf Warrior not too long ago (level 11 right now. Vensita on Lothar). Damn, Blackie wasn't kidding. The class is hard. In my first 11 levels as a hunter and a druid, I didn't die once. I've died at least a dozen times with the warrior. Mainly because if I get an add, I'm done, because warriors don't have an escape plan.

Yep. With a warrior, you almost have to pull with a bow in many situations. But if you do, you lose your "charge" rage generation. It's a real pain in the ass. I started to figure out a trick with a warrior. Create a macro for switching weapons/shields on the fly. Go defensive early. Don't take much damage...just prolong the first 10-15 seconds of the fight. Just use a 1-handed sword and shield and disarm or whatever it takes. Build a bit of rage, hit the macro, weild that two handed weapon and then go full-bore offensive mode. But overall, it's a damned difficult class. |

Personally, I think horde warriors are far more valuable than alliance ones. For alliance, you can fall back on Paladins. For horde, you have to have a warrior in any group.
It does get easier for multiple mobs when you get cleave and possibly sweeping strikes. |

Pallys are an ok substitute, but you really need a warrior in endgame instances for aggro management. Pallys and hunter pets just really can't hold back the mobs the way a warrior does. |

My wife's character, Chauncey, is now at level 42. I bought a new computer and have my own account now, since she hijacked my old one. That means I get to start a new character yet again. Started him tonight: Mukluk - Troll Shaman - Level 7 - Bronzebeard.

Anyone else having really annoying problems just logging on, or staying logged on? Between downtime I've at least managed to jump another level, up to 10 now, but kept getting disconnected tonight, really badly, and got tired of either getting killed because of it or just the flat out annoyance of attempting to log back in and having to wait for the character to "release".

What server are you on?
Out of the 90 or so servers, there are 15 or so which have consistently had problems. I am actually on a fairly well populated server, but haven't have any problems in the months I have been playing there. |
