I'm curious to why Detroit drafted a QB then with a decent to good starter. You said there was other good players on the board. Hopefully it was reasonable (for the AI) because they thought this guy was something special. Good luck in game 2! |

Fred Smoot goes down with an injury early in the 1st quarter
Scottie Abe with a nice 13 yard run. My Mistake proved that Abe can do it against good defenses, and I'm going to give Abe 30-40% of the carries today. Offensive holding negates a 26 yard TD pass to Ginn. A few plays later, McNabb to Melvin Bryant for a 11 yard TD. 7-0. End of 1: 7-0, we lead. We now have the ball back. Shawn Andrews suffers a very serious shoulder injury They stop us at midfield, but a good punt pins them at their 9. Nathan Weaver, their young new back, is making some big plays. Cutler to Javon for 20 yards. Lito Sheppard goes down on the play Our secondary is getting decimated by injuries. We still stop them on 3rd and 10 at the 50 as Victor Askey, our young CB makes a play. Their punt starts us on our 3. McNabb to LJ Smith for 17 to get us some room. Scottie Abe with a 17 yard run! He has 4 carries for 38 yards. Abe with another 7 yard run! We end a long drive with a McNabb to Reggie Brown pass for a 3 yard TD! 14-0. 1:27 left in the half. Denver with a late TD at the end of the half to make it 14-7. Early in the 3rd, Westbrook leaves the game with an injury. 2 plays later, McNabb to Baskett for a 13 yard TD. 21-7. Gregg with a tackle on their HB. We force a punt a few plays later. Our next drive ends in a short FG. 24-7. End of 3: 24-7 lead and we just got the ball back. Gregg with a blitz and good presusre on the QB. Gregg with an assist on the next play. We force a punt Dhani Jones with a pick to end their next drive. We force a turnover on downs on their 17. Akers with a 42 yard FG to make it 27-7. Victor Askey with a pick of a long pass! Maybe, Victor can contribute after all. Abe with a fumble on the next play that they recover. Colby Bockwoldt intercepts a long pass. Game over. 27-7 win. Week 2, 2009 played in Denver, CO 41 degrees, fair, 15 mph wind

Shawn Andrews tore his deltoid muscle and will miss the rest of the year. There is a very slim chance he could be ready by the Super Bowl. For now, I won't IR him. This will be Stephen Phillip's chance to start, although I will keep his primary position as LG. Glad I took him with the 1st round pick.
Westbrook has a strained calf muscle and will miss a few weeks at least. Fred Smoot has a broken foot and will miss 6-8 weeks. Lito Sheppard has a strained calf muscle and will miss 3-4 weeks. Sheldon Brown is questionable with a strained hamstring, but I don't see any choice but to risk playing him. Victor Askey and Buchanon are our only completely healthy corners right now. I'll start Brown but only play him about 30-40% of the plays with Askey backing him up. Considine, Joel Thomason, Levi Brown, Ginn (broken finger), Glen Ogden, and Brandon Hancock will all play through minor injuries. Greta's best M2M Defenders: 10. Nate clements, Buf 9. Daniel Bullocks, Det 8. Sean Taylor, Wash 7. Mike Doss, Ind 6. DeAngelo Hall, Atl 5. Daymeion Hughes, Jax 4. Antrel Rolle, Ari 3. Charles Tillman, Chi 2. Nathan Vasher, Chi 1. Laron Landry, SD Matt Hasselbeck was the offensive player of the week. He completed 24 of 30 passes for 357 yards with 4 TD's. Brady Quinn was 29 of 42 for 276 yards with 2 TD's 1 INT. Steven Jackson led all backs with 27 carries for 152 yards and 2 TD's. Scottie Abe was 2nd with his 114 yards. Adrian Peterson had 14 carries for 100 yards and a TD for GB. Reggie Wayne, Ind, led all receivers with 7 catches for 148 yards and a TD. Calvin Johnson was up there on the list with 7 catches for 101 yards and 2 TD's for New Orleans. Charles Tillman, Chi, was the defensive player of the week with 3 interceptions. Surprisingly, Victor Askey was on the list of top CB's for the week. We'll play our next game which is hosting the Rams tomorrow. |

Yeah, I've noticed that teams will use a 1st rounder on a very good QB even if they have a good QB (like Denver with Cutler but they still took Troy Smith.) I'm guessing that is partly due to the way scouting is different, where I've seen guys really bust in the 3rd or 4th year. However, I also think it is a measure to prevent the Human controlled team from stockpiling QB's.

In week 3, we host the Rams. The Rams are also 2-0. They are winning thanks to prolific passing by Marc Bulger and their receiving corp. Their pass offense is #1 in the league right now. Despite having Stephen Jackson they are only 16th in rushing. Bulger has completed 46 of 73 passes for 676 yards and 4 TD's with 0 INT's in 2 starts.
Defensively, they are 8th against the pass and 20th against the rush. They are only giving up 12 ppg which is 4th in the NFL. Our scout thinks that their offense is vey good with RT Orlando Nixon being the only real weakness. Defensively, their front 7 is very strong. Tye Hill is a great CB and Ron Bartell is very good. Cory Chavous and Oshiomongo Atogwe are decent safeties. Scottie Abe will need to carry the load for us today with Westbrook's injury. I'm going to give him a chance to really dominate this game. |

First run of the game Scottie Abe runs for 14 yards. McNabb to Ginn for 17 yards on the next play. McNabb's next pass is intercepted by their safety on the 3 yard line.
Bulger with pressure completes a pass on 3rd and 11 for a first down to Kevin Curtis. Bulger with a deep bal to Sidney Rice for 28 yards is a key play on their first drive which ends just inside the 20. They connect on a short FG. 3-0. McNabb to Ginn for 21 yards to start the drive. Another pass to Ginn for 8 yards for a 1st down. Another pass to Ginn for 17 yards to convert a 3rd and 10. McNabb ends the drive with a 4 yard TD pass to Melvin Bryant. 7-3. End of 1: Up 7-3. Mike Wahle goes down with an injury for the Rams. We stop them at midfield. A 3rd and 15 pass that we convert gets called back for holding. We can't convert the 3rd and 25 and we punt. Surpisingly, defenses are dominating most of the 2nd. However, we put together a great drive late in the 2nd quarter that ends with a 13 yard TD pass to Ginn! 14-3. We then force a 3 and out. 58 seconds left. On our 36. First pass is incomplete. Abe with a 4 yard run. McNabb overthrows Ginn and we end up punting. Halftime: 14-3 lead. We end their first drive around midfield. Defenses taking over again in the 3rd quarter which is surprising. Bulger with a 40 yard pass to Holt on their next drive to get them inside our 5. Trent Cole with the stop on 1st down, but a short TD pass to Holt makes it 14-10. Scottie Abe is making some nice receptions on this drive. Didn't know he was that good of a receiver. McNabb's short pass to Abe is picked off on their 28 to end a promising drive. We force a 3 and out, but they stop us on our next drive as well. End of 3: 14-10, Rams ball on their own 14. Early in the 4th, Ginn catches his 7th pass of the day and goes over 100 yards. Next play, Ginn with a 25 yard completion. A few plays later McNabb to Ginn for a 11 yard TD!!! 21-10. A fumble leads to us quickly getting the ball back. A few plays later McNabb to Baskett for a 7 yard TD!!! 28-10. We force a 3 and out. A great punt return gives us a short field. Eddie Glover, our 3rd string HB with a 1 yard TD run to end a short drive. 35-10. 6:11 left. We force a 3 and out. Fielder is in the game. McNabb had a great day despite the 2 picks. Game over. 35-10 win for us. Week 3, 2009 played in Philadelphia, PA 49 degrees, fair, 1 mph wind

Considine is now 100 as is Joel Thomason.
Howard, Buchanon, Ginn (amazing he had his best game with a broken finger), Ogden, Hancock, and Levi Brown are all probable. Sheldon Brown is still quesitonable with his hamstring, but will play a limited number of plays again. Shawn Andrews is out for the year. Fred Smoot is still out for 6-7 weeks. Brian Westbrook will miss 2 to 3 more weeks with his strained calf. Lito Sheppard will miss at least one more game and possible 2 with his strained calf muscle. Alex Smith was the offensive player of the week with 23 of 29 passing for 258 yards with 2 TD's 0 INT's. Carson Palmer threw for 400 yards but was only 26 of 42 and he threw a pick along with his 3 TD's. Brian Griese is now the starter for Miami as Dallas let him go. Vince Young is consistently statistically in the top 10 QB's this year. Joseph Addai led all backs with 20 carries for 142 yards and a TD this week. Taylor Jacobs, SF, led all receivers with 9 catches for 172 yards and a TD. Good old Taylor. Ginn was the #3 receiver statistically this week. Shawne Merriman, SD OLB, was the defensive player of the week with 10 tackles, 4 assists, 3 sacks, 1 pass defensed. Greta's Top Special Teams Players: 10. Lito Sheppard, PHI. 9. Joe Anderson, BAL 8. Ellis Henderson, Hou 7. Quinn Walker, Ari 6. Keldrick Holman, NOS 5. Ryne Robinson, SD 4. Sidney Rice, STL 3. Johnathan Joseph, Cin 2. Devin Hester, Chi 1. Daniel Bullocks, Det. Our next game is hosting the 0-3 Atlanta Falcons. Michael Vick has been injured at times this year his backup Jamarcus Russell has not performed well. Vick is healthy again and is expected to start this week. Their rushing attack is 10th behind their 1st overall pick Dave Mahoney. Dave is already rated 68/76 by our back and he is a very dangerous back with amazing breakaway speed. So far, he has 67 carries for 255 yards and a TD. However, the rookie has had 3 fumbles, 2 of which have been lost. Their passing attack is 29th in the league. They are scoring 13 ppg which is 30th in the league. Defensively, they are 25th against the run and 7th against the pass. They scoring defense is 29th in the league and they are giving up 32 ppg. Offensively, the QB is their weakest position as Vick is only rated 39/39 by our scouts. Defensively, their front 4 is good with Abraham leading the group, but their linebackers are a weakness with Aaron Morrison being a horrible SLB. DeAngelo Hall is the 1st or 2nd best CB in the league, but the rest of the secondary is average at best. Kelly Wells is a poor SS. |

Sean Considine intercepts Vick's first pass and returns it to their 2! Next play, McNabb to Stallworth for a 2 yard TD! 7-0. Still, they stop us at midfield and we punt. Vick throws a short pass to Michael Jenkins and he turns it into a 37 yard gain. End of 1: We are up 7-0, but they are driving into our redzone. Vick with a long pass to Michael Jenkins on their first play. 28 yard gain. Victor Askey with a hamstring injury. Vick with a big pass to Crumpler that gets called back due to holding. That leads to a 40 yard FG attempt which they make. 10-7, Atl. 2:36 left and we start on our 38. McNabb to Stallworth for 20 yards. McNabb with a 11 yard scramble to convert 3rd and 10. McNabb to Stallworth for a 31 yard TD pass! 14-10. 1:01 left. Trent Cole with a big sack to end their drive at midfield. Halftime: 14-10, we lead. Victor Askey re-injures himself on the 1st play of the 2nd half tackling Vick who scrambled for 8 yards. We stop them at midfield and force a punt. Scottie Abe with a 29 yard run to start the drive. McNabb with crisp intermediate passes is marching us down the field. Eddie Glover, our 3rd string late round RB with a 14 yard TD run to end the drive! 21-10. End of 3: 21-10, we lead. They are inside our redzone. Dave Mahoney ends their drive with a 4 yard TD run. 21-17. They get the ball back on their 17 after forcing us to punt. We force a 3 and out.. no defensive pass interference gets them 26 yards and a first down. Michael Lewis intercepts Vick's next pass. Abraham sacks McNabb and forces a fumble which Atlanta recovers on our 28. Vick to White for a 28 yard TD. 24-21. 7:25 left. McNabb to Stallwroth for 16. McNabb scrambles for 5. Stallworth drops the next pass. McNabb overthrows Baskett.. We punt. Dave Mahoney gets them a 1st on their 30. 4:33 left. We force them into 3rd and 5 by stopping Mahoney twice. We stop Mahoney on a 3rd down run. They punt. We are on our 27, with 2:07 left. McNabb to Reggie Brown for 41 yards! Greg Lewis drops the next pass and he underthrows Stallwroth on 2nd down. They stop us on 3rd. Akers makes a 49 yard FG! 24-24. Less than a minute left. Vick with 2 long passes to Jenkins to get to our 38. Brandon Meekin connects on a 55 yard FG with 12 seconds left. McNabb throws a long pass at the end of the game... going towards Ginn... it is picked off by Jamal Patton. 27-24 loss Week 4, 2009 played in Philadelphia, PA 73 degrees, fair, 4 mph wind

Darren Howard, Phillip Buchanon, and Ted Ginn, Jr. are now all 100%.
Lito Sheppard is now probable with his strained calf, but a high risk of reinjury means I'll rest him 1 more week until he is 100%. Westbrook is probable, but with a high risk of re-injury he might rest 2 more weeks. Victor Askey has a high probability of exacerbating his hamstring injury, but I'll probably play him since I want Sheldon to recover from his if possible. Carson Palmer was the offensive player of the week with 19 of 27 passing for 275 yards with 4 TD's. Vince Young had the most yards (353) with 2 TD's 1 INT'. Brady Quinn, Detroit, had 24 of 36 passing for 317 yards with a TD. Chad Pennington is starting for Baltimore now (with Kellen Clemons starting for the Jets) and Pennington had a nice 18 for 28 day for 207 yards with a TD 0 INT's. Willie Parker led all backs with 26 carries for 191 yards. Greg Jennings, GB led all WR's with 9 catches for 165 yards. Roosevelt Colvin, OLB NE, won defensive player of the week with 11 tackles, 1 assist, 3 sacks, and a pass defensed. Greta's best possession receivers: 10. Laveranues Coles, Jets 9. Justin Gage, Jets 8. Demetrius Williams, Bal 7. Braylon Edwards, Cle 6. Sinorice Moss, Giants 5. Marques Colston, NOS 4. Greg Jennings, Cin 3. Chad Johnson, Cin 2. Larry Fitzgerald, Ari 1. Alfred Greer, Ten Our next game is hosting the Saints. The Saints are 2-2. They are missing a few of their bigger stars due to injuries. Reggie Bush seperated his shoulder in pre-season and hasn't played a game this year yet. He'll be our for 3 to 4 more weeks. Marques Colston has a torn ACL from late last year and is out for 8-10 more weeks. Despite, this they have a very good WR in Calvin Johnson who is rated 62/62. They have a good RB in Deuce McAllister who is starting to age but is still rated 58/58. Dree Brees is a very good QB who has excellent accuracy. The offensive line is solid across the board. Defensively, they have Dwight Freeney who is a superstar DE with Will Smith at the other DE who is rated 83/83. That is one of the best tandems in the league. However, both DT's are only rated 33. Their linebacking corp is weak except for MLB Alfred Fincher. Their corners Grady Parent and Benjamin Beyer are also poor. Their top S is out and they will be starting a poor SS, however, Roman Harper is a solid FS. |

Our first drive consumes 6:30 minutes and methodically marches down the field ending in a 9 yard TD pass to our TE. 7-0.
A long kickoff return starts them on our 40. Calvin Johnson catches an intermediate pass and turns it into a 36 yard gain with 2 great moves. Brees to Evertt Baxter for a 11 yard TD play 2 plays later. 7-7. We start on our 46 thanks to a nice kickoff return. They stop us on their 20 thanks to a Will Smith sack. Our FG attempt is blocked. Mike Hass dropped a 3rd won pass and they go 3 and out. End of 1: 7-7. Ginn catches a short pass, fakes out a defender, and runs 21 yards. However, we get stopped short of FG range. Robert Tobin connects on a 44 yard FG on their next drive. Akers connects on a 43 yard FG on our next drive to tie it up again at 10-10. They go for it on 4th and 1 on their 45 with 44 seconds left and Deuce converts. A few plays later Robert Tobin connects on a 56 yard FG as time is expiring in the half! 13-10. They start with the ball in the 2nd half. We force a 3 and out. DE Charles Grant intercepts a screen pass on our 44. Brees with 2 quick passes to Calvin Johnson gets them inside our 5. Brees to their TE for a TD. 20-10. They sack McNabb on 1st down to force a 2nd and 21 which eventually leads to a 3 and out. Matt McCoy goes down with an injury. Tommy Kelley with a sack and forced fumble, but Brees recovers it. That forces them to punt it. We go 3 and out. Brees starts marching them down the field. End of 3: 20-10, Saints lead and are driving into our half of the field. We stop them inside our 5 and they kick a short FG. 23-10. Sean Considine goes down on the field goal attempt 10:54 left. We need to score here. We drove inside the 20, but a holding call pushed us back out and we failed convert a 3rd and 15. Akers connects on a 44 yard FG. 23-13 with 6:07 left. By running, they make a 1st down but we finally stop them after that. We get the ball back with about 2:30 left. McNabb to Stallworth for a 41 yard gain. 15 more yards go Ginn. Another pass for 27 yards and a TD to Baskett! 23-20 with 57 seconds left. We recover the onside kick! Brandon Hancock made the play!!! McNabb to Baskett for 32 yards to get to their 33. 32 seconds left. McNabb to Bryant for 13 yards! McNabb to Reggie Brown for a 21 yard TD!!!!!!! 27-23 with 10 seconds left. What a comeback! Sherman Gregg with a hurry on the QB. Great play by our new freak! What a win! Week 5, 2009 played in Philadelphia, PA 48 degrees, fair, 2 mph wind

Matt McCoy is out 3-4 weeks with a hyperextended knee. Sean Considine is out with the exact same injury for the same amount of time.
Lito Sheppard is now 100%. Tommy Kelley has a broken cheekbone, but can play through it with no risk of reinjury. McCoy's injury is going to force me to give Dallas Sartz a chance to start. It will be interesting to see what he does, as I plan on letting him go in FA after this year. This could be his last chance to change my mind. Greta's Top Run Defenders: 10 Darren Howard, Phi 9. Jake Delhomme was injured last week and will not play for the next few weeks. He was playing well for them. Steve Smith is still one of the top WR's in the league but he is starting to decline in talent. Courtney Lewis is a barely acceptable HB. Their offensive line is weak on the right side as their RT and RG are both injured. Defensively, they are solid throughout, but Sedrick ware is a bit of weakness at FS and Glenn Earl is just ok as a SS. Their passing offense was 6th behind Jake who had completed 103 of 168 passes for 1530 yards with 10 TD's and 4 INT's. They will probably start 2nd year QB Gary Kunz who is rated 34/52 (he was taken 1st overall in the 2008 draft.) He is the apparent successor to Jake and he has great timing but poor accuracy. Their running game is 32nd in the league. Their turnover margin is 0 which is tied for 14th. With Jake at QB, they were scoring 24.4 PPG which is 13rd in the league. Defensively, they are 31st against the run and 6th against the pass. They are allowing 21.8 ppg which is 11th in the league. All of this adds up to a 3-2 record for them. After 5 games, our rush attack is 16th. Our passing attack is 13th. However, we are 3rd in PPG with 30.6 PPG. We are 3rd against the run but 15th against the pass. We are 3rd with only 16 PPG allowed. McNabb's stats after 5 games: 122 of 176 for 1336 yards with 13 TD's 4 INT's which equals a rating of 106.6 |

Kunz's first pass is a 44 yard bomb to Todd Watkins.
S Frank McGrath with a key play on 3rd down to stop them from converting. Nice play from him. Hopefully, he'll be a good starter for us in the future. We hold them to a FG. 3-0. We fumble the ball away immediately on our first drive and it leads to an easy TD for Carolina. 10-0. McNabb is perfect on our next drive. He is 6 of 6 for 49 yards, but Scottie Abe finishes the drive with a 11 yard TD run. 10-7. Trotter with a sack on their first play. Steve Smith drops the 2nd down pass. We force a 3 and out. I turn away for a second to find out that we scored when I wasn't even looking. 14-10. End of 1: 14-10, we lead. McNabb's 10th pass is his first incompletion of the day. Julius Peppers sacks McNabb and stops our drive, but a great punt starts them on their 2. Kunz with a 25 yard pass to Kerry Colbert. A Penalty forces them into 3rd and 25 but Kunz finds Steve Smith for a 32 yard gain. We stop them just outside our 40. Ginn catches a screen pass, evades two defenders and turns it into a 20 yard gain. Next play, he catches a 15 yard pass. They stop us on their 34. Akers misses a 51 yard FG attempt. Halftime: 14-10, we lead. We start with the ball in the 2nd half. McNabb throws a pick on our 43 to give them a short field. Kunz with a 29 yard pass to their 4th WR. Kearse sacks the young QB on the next play, forces a fumble, and Kearse recovers it! McNabb drives us down the field, but they stop us at the 30. Akers makes a 47 yard FG. 17-10. Trent Cole with a sack on 3rd down to force a 3 and out. McNabb throws a short pass that is intercepted by S Sedrick Ware. Our defense holds and they settle for a 52 yard FG. 17-13. End of 3: Up 17-13 and we are driving down the field. Ginn just went over 100 yards early in the 4th. He has 10 catches too. Unfortunately, a holding penalty kills that drive. Dhani Jones intercepts it on their 21 to get us the ball right back! Maybe the old vet isn't washed up completely. They stop us 3 plays in a row on their 2. Sheesh! Akers shanks a 18 yard FG attempt. Trent Cole sacks the QB and forces a fumble, but they recover. Trent Cole sacks the QB again on the next play! That forces them into 4th and 31. They go for it. Phillip Buchanon intercepts the deep pass and returns it to their 28. 2:44 left. Akers misses a 50 yard FG with 1:05 left. Kunz with a 17 yard pass to Steve Smith. They are on the 38 with 36 seconds left. They fail to complete a 4th and 5 and they only had 5 seconds left. Game over. 17-13 win for us Week 6, 2009 played in Carolina, NC 77 degrees, fair, 9 mph wind

I'll play that game tomorrow. |

Westbrook is back in the starting lineup. We hand off to him the first two plays for a 3 yard and 6 yard gain. McNabb overthrows Westbrook on 3rd and 1, but a running into the kicker gives us a 1st!
Wow. Just saw a highlight of a 74 yard TD from Peyton to Dwayne Jarrett. Meanwhile, we are having a balanced drive that is marching down the field. Westbrook with 31 yards rushing including a 10 yard TD run on our 1st drive. 7-0. We stop them before they even get past their own 20. But, they stop us and we punt pinning them on their 5. We don't let them get a single yard as we force a punt. Barrett Ruud intercepts a pass on their 36 and returns it 10 yards. McNabb was trying to throw a slant to Ginn. End of 1: 7-0, we lead. Chris Leak leads them on a nice drive which ends in a TD. 7-7. 2nd play of our drive, 4 WR set, Stallworth gets a short pass and breaks a tackle and runs 69 yards for a TD! 14-7. I'm going to extend his contract after this game. Sheldon Brown picks up a minor injury on the 1st play of their drive. Chris Leak with some great throws ending in a 12 yard TD pass to Alex Smith, their TE. 14-14. Akers with a nice 53 yard FG at the end of the half. 17-14. Halftime: 17-14, we lead. TB starts with the ball in the 2nd half and Marcus Golson has his 2nd big run of the day against us for 19 yards. Tommy Kelley forces a fumble on his next carry and Dallas Sartz recovers for us! Unfortunately, we fail to move the ball and we end up punting. On our next drive, LJ Smith goes down with an injury At least, we keep moving the ball and get inside their 20. Ginn had a few receptions on this drive. It ends with a 4 yard TD pass to Baskett. 24-14. Tommy Kelley with a big sack to end their next drive. End of 3: 24-14, we lead and we have the ball on our 19. We are running the ball well early in the 4th, and we are almost exclusively running it. Westbrook with a 4 yard run to convert 3rd and 4, but offensive holding calls it back. McNabb to Ginn on 3rd and 14. Ginn breaks a tackle goes 38 yards and then fumbles it. TB recovers. We force a 3 and out.. excepts defensive holding gives them a 1st. We stop them on the next 3 plays and force a punt. 5:40 left and we punt it to their 7. Tommy Kelley sacks Leak on the 1 yard line. They go for it on 4th and 13 and fail to convert with 4 minutes left. McNabb to Stallworth for an 8 yard TD on 3rd and goal. 31-14. They bring in young Jimmy Hopkins. We force 4 incompletions from Hopkins and get the ball on downs on their 15. 2 minutes left. Akers misses a 37 yard FG. 1:02 left. We are making Hopkins miss all of his passes (although they are mostly long throws.) They turn it over on downs and we run out the clock. 31-14 win for us. Sheldon Brown, Tommy Kelly, Brandon Hancock, and Frank McGrath are all 100% after this week. Fred Smoot is now probable with his broken foot and is unlikely to reinjure it.
McCoy is still out for 1 more week at least. Considine is doubtful and will not play. L.J. Smith suffered a strained deltoid muscle and will be out for a few weeks. Greta's top 10 Pass Catching TE's: 10. Kevin Everett, Buf 9. Owen Daniels, Hou 8. Kellen Winslow, Cle 7. Vernon Davis, SF 6. Todd Heap, Bal 5. Fernando Leftwich, KC 4. Heath Miller, Pitt 3. Peyton was the only QB to go over 300 yards this week. Brady Quinn was 20 of 32 for 269 yards with 2 TD's 1 INT. He has been consistent most of the year. Quinn Walker led all backs with 32 carries for 132 yards and a TD for Arizona. Quinn Walker was the 3rd overall pick this year. He has 100 hole recognition and 100 elusiveness according to our scout (as well as 85 breakaway speed and 76 power inside.) He is already rated 86/86 by my scout. In 7 starts, he has 159 carries for 648 yards with 10 TD's. Andre Johnson, Hou, led all receivers with 7 catches for 122 yards and 2 TD's. Mario williams, Houston, was the defensive player of the week with 5 tackles and 4.5 sacks this week. Our next game is hosting the Giants. They are led by Eli who is rated 93/93 now by our scouts. Sinorce Moss (70) and Plaxico Burress (61) are a very good WR tandem. Their offensive line is decent with Sam Baker (65/65) at RT being the best rated player. Defensively, they have a great line with Barry Cofield being the star (87/87.) Lavar Arrington is very good and the rest of the linebackers are solid. Shawn Lyons is a weakness at RCB and Tony Parrish and ERic Weddle are just average safeties now. The Giants are 4-2. Eli has completed 127 of 210 passes for 1705 yards with 12 TD's 4 INT's. Their passing offense is 5th in the league. Their rushing offense is 29th in the league. Their 28.7 PPG scored is 6th in the league. Defensively, they are 4th against the run. They are 19th against the pass. They have allowed 23.2 ppg which is 16th. They don't generate many turnovers and are -3 as a result in Turnover margin. |

McNabb to Reggie Brown for a TD!!! 14-10. Joel Thomason goes down on the play with an injury. 1:27 left in the half. We force a 3 and out. Halftime: We are up 14-10. NYG starts with the ball. Kearse with good pressure to force a 3 and out. A penalty contributes to us going 3 and out. Broderick Bunkley sacks Eli and forces a fumble. Trent Cole recovers it! Another balanced drive helps us take advantage of the fumble. McNabb ends the drive with a 9 yard TD pass to Glen Ogden, our 3rd string TE. 21-10. End of 3: 21-10, we lead. We stop them at midfield. 13:10 left as we get the ball. Ginn goes over 100 yards on his 7th reception of the day, as we are methodically moving the ball down the field. Another very balanced drive ends with a 3 yard Westbrook TD run. 28-10. 7:44 left in the game. Michael Lewis intercepts a long pass from Eli on the 1st play of their drive. Their punt returner fumbles the ball and Stephen Phillips, our rookie G/C recovers it after hustling down the field. That gets us the ball on their 20. He takes a 3 year deal for 4 million. We also add an extra year to Omar Gaither at a modest 1.5 million for the extra year. I'm convinced that Winston Justice could be a decent RT for us. Our next game is hosting the 3-5 Washington Redskins who we beat 40-13 at their place in the 1st game of the year. Washington's run offense is 29th in the league as Clinton Portis just isn't getting it done any longer. He is averaging 3.38 YPG and only has 4 TD's. Their passing attack is 26th as Jason Campbell is still struggling. He has 9 TD's vs 14 INT's. Their turnover margin of -6 is 28th in the league. They are only scoring 17.1 ppg which is 28th.
Defensively, they are 31st against the run. However, they are 4th against the pass. They are allowing 26.5 ppg which is 28th. This should be an easy win. |

2 penalties for 20 yards kills our 1st drive.
We stuff Portis on several carries and quickly get the ball back. McNabb drives us down the field with several intermediate passes to Stallworth, a 28 yard pass to Baskett, and a 4 yard TD pass to Ogden that gets called back by a hold. A few plays later, Scottie Abe runs it in from 1 yard out. 7-0. Sheldon Brown intercepts a pass in the endzone to end their drive. First pass is a 40 yard completion to Reggie Brown! But, they stop us the next 3 plays. End of 1: 7-0, we and we just got the ball back. Akers misses a 33 yard FG attempt! Campbell with severyal big passes to drive them to our 5. Portis runs it in from the 5 to make it 7-7. Levi Brown picks up a minor knee injury. Levi Brown gives up sacks on the next 2 plays. Winston Justice gives up a sack on 3rd and long. We force a 3 and out. Greg Lewis returns it to our 45. 57 seconds left. They force us to go 3 and out. Halftime: 7-7 tie. An illegal shift negates a 13 yard TD run by Scottie Abe and McNabb throws a pick on their 11 yard line on the next play. We force a 3 and out. Westbrook makes a few moves and takes a secreen for 23 yards. That is the key play in a drive which ends with a 3 yard TD pass to Brandon Hancock. 14-7. Sherman Gregg recovers a fumble on the kickoff return to get us the ball right back! A few plays later McNabb to Melvin Bryant for a 13 yard TD! 21-7. Next up, we play at Dallas. Dallas is 5-4. Steve McNair has been injured most of the season and they have had to use 3 different starting QB's. As a result, they are running it 34 times per game which is 1st in the NFL. However, they are only 11th in rushing yardage. Their pass offense is 30th in the league as Owens is slowing down. They are scoring 21.9 ppg which is 16th in the league and their plus 7 turnover margin is 4th best in the league.
Defensively, they are 3rd overall, 3rd against the rush, and 13th against the pass. They are allowing 17.2 ppg which is 3rd in the NFL. They are creating the 3rd most turnovers in the NFL. |

Dallas starts off with a time consuming (7 minute) drive that featured several critical 3rd down passes by QB Blaine McDaniel. 7-0 Dallas.
Rookie Stephen Phillips goes down on our 1st play. Terrell Owens has a key 25 yard catch on their next drive which ends in a FG. 10-0. End of 1: 10-0, Dallas leads. Our drive is hurt by a holding on 3rd and 2. We settle for a short FG. 10-3. 8:47 left in the 2nd. A fumble in the redzone bails us out and then the defenses take over. Halftime: Down 10-3. McNabb is 14 of 17 for 140 yards, but can't seem to move the ball in the redzone. Early in the 3rd, Broderick Bunkley goes down with an injury Blaine connects with Bubba Franks, their #2 TE for a 24 yard TD to make it 17-3. 7 minutes left in the 3rd. End of 3: Dallas up 17-3 and they are on our 3. 3 yard TD run by Julius Jones to make it 24-3. As if getting whipped by the Cowboys wasn't enough, Westbrook goes down midway through the 4th with an injury. Their front 7 is just getting too much pressure on McNabb and he isn't able to complete hardly any passes this half. We turn it over on downs on our own 21 with 5:38 to go. Game over. 27-3 win for Dallas. Week 10, 2009 played in Dallas, TX 47 degrees, fair, calm

Our 2nd drive of the game is a balanced drive which ends with a McNabb TD scramble! 7-0.
Trotter with an interception early in their next drive to get us the ball on their 24. A few plays later they stop us on 3rd and 1 from their 5. Akers makes a 22 yard FG. 10-0. End of 1: 10-0 we lead, and they are about to punt. Green with a 5 yard TD pass to Todd Blythe late in the 2nd to make it 10-7. Halftime: Up 10-7. Tambi Hall is getting trememndous pressure on McNabb. Early in the 3rd, we make it 17-7 with a balanced drive. A punt return by Greg Lewis for 76 yards makes it 24-7. McNabb with a bad pick on our next drive. He just locked on Ginn and threw it into double coverage. End of 3: Up 24-7 and we have the ball back. Oh my! Ginn catches a 6 yard curl early in the 4th, jukes his man out, and outruns the defense. 76 yard TD!! 31-7. Late in the 4th, Fred Smoot with a nice pick of a Trent Green bomb. With the game firmly in hand, Jay Fiedler gets some time on the field to hand it off. Eddie Glover, our 3rd string HB finishes the game with a drive that ends in a TD run. 38-7. Game over. 38-7 win for us. Week 12, 2009 played in Kansas City, MO 32 degrees, fair, 13 mph wind

LJ Smith, Levi Brown, and Joel Thomason are all 100% now.
Scottie Abe is out for at least a week with a strained achille tendon. Stephen Phillips will miss at least 1 more game, as weill Broderick Bunkley. Winston Justice is going to risk trying to work through a strained knee ligament. Greta's Top 10 Premiere Linebackers: 10 Antonio Pierce, NYG 9. Brian Urlacher, Chi 8. Korey Well,s Wash 7. Karlos Dansby, Ari 6. Ernie Sims, Det 5. Victor Hobson, NYJ 4. Nick Barnett, GBY 3. Manny Lawson, SF 2. Derrick Johnson, KC 1. Shawne Merriman, SD David Greene, QB NE, was the offensive player of the week with 21 of 27 passing for 316 yards with 4 TD's 0 INT's. Eli Manning threw for over 400 yards but had 2 picks. LT led all backs with 24 carries for 157 yards and 1 TD. Brnadon Lloyd led all receivers with 8 catches for 147 yards and a TD. Rocky McIntosh, Wash OLB, was the defender of the week with 7 tackles, 2 sacks, and 3 passes defensed. Our 9-2 record is just 1 game ahead of the Giants, but we are at least 1 game ahead of everyone in the NFC. Next up, we play at the 2-9 Vikings. They are spliting time between Chestor Taylor and Marshawn Lynch and have a good running game that is 11th overall, but 2nd in yards per carry. However, their passing attack is only 23rd and their overall offense is 23rd. Kyle Wright is having a so so year again and is 195 of 350 for 2274 yards with 10 TD's 9 INT's. They are scoring 16.8 ppg which is 27th and are -4 in trunover margin. Defensively, they aren't much better as they are 22nd against the run, 29th against the pass, and 31st overall. They give up 27 ppg which is 31st. They don't generate many turnovers at all. Kevin Williams and Kenechi Udeze are their only good defensive players although Dwight Smith is ok at S. |

Sherman Gregg with a nice sack on their 2nd drive, but it doesn't stop them from scoring a TD a few plays later. 7-0.
A fumble kills our next drive and they get the ball about midfield. End of 1: Down 7-0. We start the 2nd quarter with a long lengthy drive that ends with a short TD pass to Eddie Grover. 7-7. We force a 3 and out. Chestor Taylor with 2 big runs including a 38 yard TD run to make it 14-7 late in the 2nd quarter. McNabb with a 22 yard pass to Ginn as a key play in a drive that ultimately gets derailed by a bad sack that put us into 3rd and 26. Oh shit. Winston Justice just exacerbated his knee injury and he is down with a serious knee injury Halftime: Down 14-7 and with a big loss of Winston Justice in this game. End of 3: Down 14-7, we are marching down the field. Levi Brown goes down early in the 4th The next 2 plays we give up sacks, forcing us to kick the FG. 14-10. We quickly get the ball back. LJ Smith makes a few guys miss and gets us a quick 26 yard gain to get to midfield. However, we get stopped at midfield and punt with 9 minutes left. We down it on their 6. Darren Howard forces a Chester fumble, but Minnesota recovers. We get the ball back and drive to their redzone, but then get stopped. We kick another FG. 14-13. We quickly get the ball back with 4 minutes left. Antoine Winfield intercepts a McNabb pass killing our drive and giving Minnesota a short field. Next Play, Marshawn Lynch with a 23 yard TD run. 21-13. 2:45 left. McNabb to Baskett for 23 yards. False Start. Incomplete pass. Incomplete pass. 3rd and 15: McNabb is sacked for 15 yards. On 4th and 30, we fail to convert. Turnover on downs. Sheesh, our offensive line is falling apart due to injuries to both tackles. We somehow get the ball back. Unfortunately, a long pass for Ginn is intercepted. They run out the clock. 21-13 loss. Week 13, 2009 played in Minnesota, MN 68 degrees, fair, calm

Westbrook is still suffering from a sprained knee that will limit his carries.
Levi Brown suffered a dislocated shoulder that will cost him the rest of the regular season and possibly some Playoff time. Lito Sheppard has a sprained knee ligament. Seeing how Winston's blew up, I'll probably rest Lito. Winston Justice has a torn Lateral Knee Ligament. He is done for the year and possibly his career. I'm suddenly regretting his new contract that I gave him. We sign Jeff Perrett, a young RT that was drafted by the Bengals in the 4th round in 2007 and was just released 2 weeks ago in a roster move. He is rated 32/32 by our scouts. Tackle will be a position of great weakness the next few weeks as we will be our starting Marion Dukes at LT despite him mostly busting. I'll be starting Joel Thomason my young undrafted RT. Jeff will back them both up. Greta's "Best Possession QB's" 10. Aaron Rodgers, GB 9. Marc Bulger, Stl 8. Jake Delhomme, Car 7. Alex Smith, SF 6. Matt Hasselbeck, Sea 5. Brian Griese, Mia 4. Tom Brady, NE 3. Carson Palmer, Cin 2. Eli Manning, NYG 1. Peyton Manning, Ind Eli Manning threw for over 500 yards 3 TD's and 1 INT on 35 of 55 passing. But, Matt Hasselbeck was the offensive player of the week with 32 of 42 passing for 446 yards with 5 TD's 0 INT's. Lendale White, Tenn, led all backs with 21 carries for 165 yards. Plaxico Burress had 16 catches for 268 yards and 2 TD's. Kris Jenkins, DT Jets, was the defensive player of the week with 7 tackles and 4.5 sacks. Our depleted offensive line and the rest of the team next faces Oakland. New York won last week, so we need this win to maintain at least a tie in the NFC East. Oakland is 8-4 surprisingly. They don't have very good talent except at S with Michael Huff according to my scouts. However, their running offense is 1st in the league behind LaMont Jordan's 1000 yards, Jared Rice's 400 plus yards and Aaron Brooks adding another 235. They are 28th in passing offense, but are 19th overall. They are 17th in points scored per game and are -2 in turnover magin. They are 14th against the run and 28th against the pass and 27th overall. Their defense has generated the 8th most turnovers in the league and they are scoring. Kirk Morrison has been a machine at MLB for them this year. This could be a tough game if my OT's don't hold up. |

A long grinding 1st drive for us ends in a 15 yard TD pass to Baskett. 7-0.
Trotter forces an Oakland fumble and Smoot recovers it. It's raining today and the ball is slippery. End of 1. 7-0, we lead. Oakland with a FG on their next drive and then a TD on their next drive makes it 10-7. Midway through the 2nd, Michael Lewis picks up a hamstring injury. They put together a lengthy time consuming drive that ends in a 3 yard TD run by Rice. 17-7 with under a minute to go. Halftime: Down 17-7. End of 3: Still down 17-7. Not enough time is being given to McNabb to throw it deep or accurately. Wow. McCoy forces a fumble on their 4 yard line and Sheldon Brown picks it up and runs it in for a TD!! 17-14. 9 minutes left. Can our defense score again? Can McNabb get us into the endzone with very little time to pass? We force a 3 and out. Greg Lewis with a good punt return gets us to the 35. New tackle Jeff Parrett with a good run block to get Westbrook 7 yards. Westbrook with a 8 yard carry on the next play. McNabb to Stallworth for 4 yards to move us to the 45 officially. Westbrook is stuffed and fumbles. McNabb recovers it. 3rd and 6 on their 46. McNabb slips on the wet field and throws a bad pass. 5 minutes left. We need to get the ball backk quickly. We force them to punt with 2:20 left. McNabb's first long pass is picked off. That should be the ball game We get them to punt with 48 seconds left! McNabb with a bomb to Stallworth for 42 yards! We are on their 46 now. No timeouts. McNabb with a bomb to Ginn for a 46 yard TD!!!! 21-17! Game over. Week 14, 2009 played in Philadelphia, PA 35 degrees, rain, 6 mph wind

Trent Cole has been much less active the last few games. Hope he isn't getting complacent.
Westbrook, Abe, Stephen Phillips, and Frank McGrath are now all 100%. Michael Lewis has a strained hamstring but I'm going to risk him playing through it with a reduced number of plays. The Giants won their game so we are both 10-3 and tied for 1st in the NFC East. We play at their stadium next! David Greene, NE, was offensive player of the week with 18 of 24 passing for 231 yards with 5 TD's 0 INT's. Brady Quinn was 24 of 36 for 280 yards with a TD 0 INT's for Detroit. Carnell Williams led all backs with 17 carries for 129 yards and a TD. Greg Jennings led all receivers with 10 catches for 166 yards. Tony Parrish, Giants, was the defender of the week with 7 tackles and 4 interceptions. The Giants have very few serious injuries, except Sam Madison who they miss. Eli Manning has been on fire this year and Plaxico Burress is still capable of dominating a game. Sinorice Moss is a great receiver alongside him. The offensive line looks good. The defensive front 7 looks great but the corners are very weak. Clifton Kerry and Shawn Lyons are the big weakness of this team. Hopefully, we can exploit them. |

They score first, but we put together our own balanced answering drive that ends with an Abe 14 yard TD run. 7-7.
McNabb with a bad pick late in the 1st to give them a hort field. Our defense had done well last drive, but they are starting on our 31 now. We hold them to a FG. 10-7. End of 1: 10-7, NY, but we are driving. A few plays later, McNabb to Stallworth for a 2 yard TD. 14-10. The Giants respond with a quick strike drive. 17-14. 11 minutes left in the 2nd. A fumble gives them the ball back quickly and they score again. 24-14. 8 minutes left in the 1st half. The Giants with an impressive drive to make it 31-14 with under 2 minutes to go. Eli is destroying my defense. Halftime: Down 31-14. Eli has completed 17 of 27 for 276 yards and 3 TD's at the half. They are getting too many sacks and too much pressure on McNabb. We end up punting on our 1st drive of the 2nd half. Fred Smoot with a big pick to try to get our team back into it. McNabb scrambles for a 1st on 3rd and 4. We are on their 36 now. McNabb with a short pass to Ginn that he turns into a 21 yard play. Marion Dukes gives up another sack to force 3rd and 21. McNabb throws a pick on the next play. First play of the drive, Manning to Burress for a 50 yard gain. Late in the 3rd, the Giants make it 38-14. McNabb throws his 3rd pick of the day late in the game. 41-21 loss and it looks like the Giants are going to take away the #1 seed and the bye from us. Aaron Rodgers was the offensive player of the week with 23 of 28 passing for 317 yards with 5 TD's 0 INT's.
Willie Parker led all backs with 29 carries for 190 yards and a TD. Plaxico Burress led all receivers with 8 catches for 235 yards and 2 TD's. Skip Miller, DT New Orleans, won the defensive player of the week with 4 tackles and 3 sacks. Next up, we host SD. They are 5-9. Their running attack is excellent with LT having 273 carries for 1275 yards and 8 TD's this year. However, Phillip Rivers is having a mixed season. He is 330 of 539 for 3368 yards with 23 TD's but 25 INT's. Defensively, they are 30th against the run and 7th against the pass. They are 18th overall. Their turnover margin is -13 and that has cost them. I'm going to run it more against them. |

They drive down the field, but we stop inside the 20 and then we block the FG!
We quickly move down the field, and McNabb connects with Ginn on a 17 yard TD pass to end the drive. 7-0. End of 1: Up 7-0. On their second drive, we stop them at our 47. We execute a great time consuming drive, but they stop us at their 9. We kick a 26 yard FG. 10-0. 4 minutes left in the half. We force a 3 and out. 2 minutes left. Good ball movement gets us into FG range at the end of the half and Akers connects on a 46 yarder. 13-0. Halftime: 13-0. We've only passed 9 times, but we've run it 18 times for 110 yards. Midway through the 3rd, we make it 20-0. Our defense is dominating and our offense is being efficient. Late in the 3rd, they kick a FG to make it 20-3. McNabb throws a pick to Merriman late in the 3rd. He returned it 30 plus yards to our 39. End of 3: We are up 20-3, but SD is driving. WE hold them to a FG. 20-6. SD makes it interesting late as they make it 20-13 and get the ball back. Sd on my 44 with 1:21 left. Rivers with an 18 yard pass to get to our 26 with 1:02 left. Rivers to Dennis Morse for a TD. 20-20. 47 seconds left. A good kickoff return starts us on our 35. McNabb to Ginn for a 31 yard play! McNabb to Brown for 11 yards to get to their 23. Akers connects on a 40 yard FG with 3 seconds left! 23-20. Game over. 23-20 win. Week 16, 2009 played in Philadelphia, PA 51 degrees, fair, 10 mph wind

Unfortunately, the Giants won and are still a game ahead of us and seem destined to get the bye.
Phillip Buchanon bruised his shoulder but should be ok to play. None of our injured guys are ready to come back yet, but Bunkley should be ready for the wildcard game. Levi Brown is out this week and is unlikely to be ready in time for the wildcard. Greta's Top 10 Blocking TE's: 10 Randy McMichael, Mia 9. Jeremy Shockey, NYG (LOL) 8. Tony Scheffler, Den 7. Sinorice Moss had 8 catches for 130 yards with 2 TD's. Kyle Vanden Bosch, DE Ten, was the defensive player of the week due to 4 sacks. Our final game of the regular season is a rematch of our recent game, this time us hosting the Cowboys. Blaine McDaniel will continue to start at QB for them. McNair is suffering from Repetitive Concussion Syndrome and his career is over. To bad Dallas only signed him for 2 years and only 2 million per year. |

The 1st quarter is a defensive battle.
Defense dominates the 2nd quarter as well. Dallas kicks a FG to tie it up 3-3 with 2:28 left in the half. Reggie Brown with a 103 yard kickoff return!!! 10-3. Halftime: We are up 10-3. Defense dominates the rest of the game, along with a key fumble for Dallas and 2 missed FG's by Akers. We win 10-3. Week 17, 2009 played in Philadelphia, PA 46 degrees, rain, 15 mph wind

Broderick Bunkley is now 100% for our wildcard game which is at Chicago despite our better record since they are the divison winner.
Unfortunately, Levi Brown is just not quite ready to come back from his dislocated shoulder. Winston Justice and Shawn Andrews are my other players missing this game. Chicago is using Kyle Orton at QB and he has done well all year long. He has completed 282 of 485 passes (58%) for 3151 yards with 15 TD's and 11 INT's. He has consistently been around 80 in QB Rtg and keeps fending off challengers. Cedric Benson is their primary weapon on offense. This year, he had 368 carries for 1353 yards (3.68) which is a drop from last years 1497 yards on less carries. However, he had 11 TD's this year which was a significant upgrade. We'll have to bottle him up if we want to win and Bunkley will help with that. Desmond Clark is an ok TE. Jason Hill is their best wide receiver. Jason who was a 2nd round pick a few years ago had 36 catches for 547 yards and a TD this year. Mark Bradley is the other receiver and he had 37 catches for 658 yards and 4 TD's. With the exception of the RT, the entire line is very good. The standouts are LT John Tait, LG Roberto Garza, and C Olin Kreutz. Defensively, Tommie Harris anchors a standout defensive line. The linebacking corp is solid and is led by Brian Urlacher. Devin Hester is an excellent LCB but Charles Tillman is questionable for this game. If he doesn't play, they will rely on DeAndre Jackson who is only rated 33/33. Their top two S's are out for this game, but Chris Harris and Danieal Manning are both very good backups who would start for many teams. With our T's both being out, we will try to rely on the run like we did the last few games to ease pressure on McNabb. |

Broderick Bunkley with a sack on 2nd down at midfield forces them into 3rd and 17 which they can't convert. We get the ball on our 20 with 1:39 left. Charles Tillman intercepts the ball as time runs out in the half. Halftime: Up 7-3. We start with the ball in the 2nd half. Short crisp passing is moving us down the field. Ginn with a pair of big catches on this drive. It ends with a 4 yard McNabb TD scramble from a 5 WR spread set! 14-3, we are up. We force a 3 and out. They stop us quickly to get the ball back. They then proceed to march it down the field via intermediate passes and a few big runs. Brant with a 4 yard TD run to end the drive. 14-10. 1:22 left in the 3rd. They force a 3 and out. End of 3: Up 14-10. Chicago with the ball on their own 25. We quickly get the ball back. Greg Lewis with a nice punt return to get it to our 36. McNabb with a 17 yard scramble on 3rd and 4 to get us to their 41. Westbrook with a 11 yard run on 3rd and 2 to get to their 23. McNabb throws a pick to Devin Hester in the endzone. Broderick Bunkley is key in forcing a 3 and out. 6:44 left. Brandon Hancock catches a little screen, fakes out a defender, and goes 11 yards. McNabb to Brown for 14 gets us to their 24. Another 9 yard pass to Brown gets us to their 15. They stuff on us on 3rd and 1. We kick a 33 yard FG to make it 17-10. 2:05 left. Orton with a 7 yard pass to get to their 35. Incomplete pass. Orton to Fred Tolson for a 3 yard play to get the 1st. 1st and 10 on their 38 with 1:32 left. Considine defends the pass. Holding costs them 10 yards. Sheldon Brown intercepts a bomb! 1:01 left. We run it 3 straight times and they use timeouts to force us to punt with about 20 seconds left. They are on their 26. They can't move it down the field in time. Game over. 17-10 win! Tom Brady was the player of the week with 30 of 39 passing for 345 yards with 2 TD's and 0 INT's.
Reggie Bush led all backs with 23 carries for 129 yards and a TD. Trevor Chanoine, NE, led all receivers with 8 catches for 131 yards and 2 TD's. Chris Kelsay, DE St. Louis was the defensive player of the week with 4 tackles and 1.5 sacks. In the other wildcard games: Despite Brady's performance Cleveland beat New England 35-28. St. Louis lost at New Orleans 27-24. Tennessee lost at Denver as Jay Cutler was very solid. Conference Semifinals: Cleveland at Miami Denver at the Colts New Orleans at Seattle Philly at the Giants. I have 2 very interesting decisions: Levi Brown is probable with his dislocated shoulder and should be full strength in a week. I was bitten by risking Winston Justice, but that was a knee. I'm tempted to try this... Even more interesting: I didn't IR Shawn Andrews in case he could come back in the playoffs. He is questionable now. There is a low risk of re-injury, and he wouldn't be full strength for 4 more weeks. If I start him, it would mean moving having my rookie be the primary backup since his stats have indicated that he has actually underperformed Todd Herremans this year (but is almost up to him in ratings.) I'm worried about Levi, but I'm going to take the chance with both of them. I'm going to have both Levi and Shawn take a somewhat reduced number of snaps. The Giants are well rested and are missing only Sam Madison which is the only weak point on their offense. I'm going to be constantly double teaming their receivers and hoping that we can at least prevent them from beating us. I'm also going to continue to run it more in hopes of keeping their offense off the field. |

Our first drive is aided by a personal foul against New York that immediately gets us to midfield. McNabb with a quick little hitch to Baskett and he fakes out a defender to get 22 yards. That gets us to the 22 quickly. Another pass to Baskett for 15 yards. So much for my inital plan to run it more. The drive ends with a 2 yard TD pass to Stallworth on 3rd and goal! 7-0.
Manning to Dwayne Bowe, the 3rd reciver, for 13 yards. Manning to the FB Dan Kreider for 12 yards. Manning to Kreider for 4 yards. We stuff a run to force 3rd and 6 on our 39. Manning throws into double coverage and we defend it! They punt. Westbrook with a 15 yard run on 3rd and 4. Shawn Andrews gives up a sack on th enex tplay, but McNabb to LJ Smith gets us a 1st. McNabb to Stallworth for 11 yards to get us to their 37. McNabb to Ginn for 9. Ginn drops a TD pass. Westbrook picks up the 1st on 3rd and 1. 1st and 10 on their 26: Westbrook runs for 2. Then a pass to Ginn for 11. Westbrook with a run of 4 yards. McNabb with a bad pass. McNabb to Baskett for a 9 yard TD!!! 14-0. Eli Manning to Billy Sawyer, 4th WR, for 24 yards. Manning to Meade, their HB, for 6 yards. Jamal Lewis runs it for 2 yards to set up 3rd and 2. Eli scramlbes for 5. A big run gets them to our 28. Jamal Lewis with a 5 yard run. Colby with a sack on a blitz for a 8 yard loss. 3rd and 13: Manning to Jamal for 16 yards. Manning to Meade for 14 yards to get to our 1. We stuff Meade on 1st down. Manning to Burress for a 2 yard TD. 14-7. 10:28 left in the 2nd. Ginn with a 19 yard reception early in the drive. Westbrook with a pair of 9 yard runs. Before I know it, we are inside their 20. Scotti eAbe with a 1 yard run. Offensive holding pushes us to 2nd and 19. McNabb to Ginn for 17 yards. Westbrook witha 2 yard run to pick up the 1st. Westbrook with a 10 yard TD run!!! 21-7. 4:50 left in the half. Manning to Kreider for 10 yards. Manning to Sinorice Moss for 23 yards. Manning to Sawyer for 14 yards. They are on our 30 now. Manning with an incomplete pass. Manning to Burress for 11 yards. Broderick Bunkley with a hurry leads to a bad pass. Sheldon Brown defends the next pass. Broderick Bunkley with a sack to force a 41 yard FG attempt which Feely misses! Less than 2 minutes left. Westbrook with a 20 yard run! We are running it heavily. Seem content to get in FG range. Akers misses a 43 yard FG. Halftime: 21-7, we lead. Manning is marching them down the field again. Michael Lewis re-exacerbates his hamstring injury! We sack Manning and he fumbles! Tommy Kelley recovers! They force a 3 and out. They start back on their 16. Manning marchs them down the field, but we stop them at the 25. Feely connects on a 42 yard FG. 21-10. 6:11 left in the 3rd. 3 and out for us. Broderick Bunkley picks up a "minor head injury." I don't like the sound of that. We force a 3 and out as Sheldon Brown came up with 2 big plays. They quickly get the ball back and a good punt return starts them around midfield. End of 3: We are up 21-10, but they are on our 28. Sean Considine with a big defensive play to force a 4th down. They kick a 45 yard FG. 21-13. Manning throws a pick to Lavar Arrington. They are on our 42. We force a 3 and out. Great defense! However, a great punt starts us on our 1. Westbrook with a 8 yard run. Westbrook with a 1 yard run. Scottie Abe with a 2 yard run to get the 1st. Osi Umeniyora with a 8 yard sack to push us back to our 4. Westbrook with a 2 yard run. Westbrook with a 3 yard run and we punt. They are on our 47. 6:48 left in the game. Michael Lewis just re-injured himself, again. Despite that we force a long FG attempt which they miss! We kill some clock, but don't move the ball effectively. About 3 minutes left, they are on their 20. Michael Lewis with 2 good pass defenses. Considine with a pass defense. Considine defends the 4th down pass too! We get the ball on their 20. Westbrook with a 1 yard run. 2 minute warning. Westbrook with a 2 yard run. They stuff Westbrook. Akers connects on a 34 yard Fg. 24-13, with 1:30 to go. We stop Burress from catching the ball. Bunkley is 100% after resting this week. Levi Brown is now 100%.
Shawn Andrews is still questionable, but no worse for wear. Michael Lewis still has the strained hamstring he had a good portion of the year, but he should be ok to go. Sean Considine has a pulled groin, but I'm going to risk him playing. The only player missing this game is Winston Justice. Brian Griese, Miami, was the offensive player of the week with 22 of 30 passing for 298 yards with a TD. Jay Cutler was 17 of 26 for 221 yards with 3 TD's 1 INT. Westbrook led all backs with his 30 carries for 138 yards and a TD. Chris Chambers was the only WR to break 100 yards with 8 catches for 115 yards. Ebenezer Ekuban, DE Denver, had 5 tackles and 2.5 sacks to win defensive player of the week. Cleveland lost at Miami 27-3. Denver won at Indianapolis 24-3. The Colts were without Peyton Manning who was injured. New Orleans lost at Seattle 37-10. So, the conference Finals are: Denver at Miami Philly at Seattle. Seattle's Matt Hassselbeck is one of the most accurate QB's in the NFL and it helps him thrive. He threw for over 4500 yards and completed almost 68% of his passes. He had 35 TD's and 6 INT's. Shaun Alexander is in his 10th year and clearly on the downside of his career, but he is still a very solid back. In 12 starts this year, he had 251 caries for 809 yards with 9 TD's. Josh Parry is a very good FB that is a solid blocker and an ok receiver. Bennie Joppru is a good TE. Jarrett Hicks and Deion Branch are both just average defenders that are thriving thanks to Hasselbeck's accuracy. Hicks had 51 catches for 737 yards and 6 TD's. Branch had 69 catches for 1124 yards and 10 TD's. The offensive line isn't that good and Chris Spencer at C is the only player I would take over my guys. Their entire defensive line is very good with LT Kendrick Deneault being the biggest standout. He is a very good run stopper. Their linebacking corp is led by Julian Peterson who is starting to show his age. Marcus Trufant is out due to injury and that really hurts their secondary, but Michael Boulware and Tank Williams are very good safeties. Interestingly, Matt is doubtful due to a hyperextended elbow. If Matt can't go, they have 3rd year Jeff Rowe or Rookie Alvin Dewez (who is probably the more talented of the 2) to start, but neither is really ready to start this type of game and we should feast on them if they do. No big changes to our gameplan, except slightly more throwing. |

In the other Conference Final, Miami beat Denver 17-3. They shut down the Denver running game and held Cutler to 13 of 27 passing for 124 yards with 0 TD's 2 INT's.
Brian Griese wasn't spectacular, but he managed the game with only 1 pick. Ronnie Brown had 37 carries for 160 yards and 2 TD's. Todd Herremans is out for the Super Bowl with a hyperextended elbow. This means that Stephen Phillips, the rookie, will start at LG in the Super Bowl. He has shoulder tendinitis, but we'll take the chance. Shawn Andrews will play despite his injury. Sean Considine and Michael Lewis will play through their respective injuries. Miami relies on Ronnie Brown who is one of the top 3 RB's in the NFL right now. He had over 1500 yards rushing on 343 carries wih 11 TD's this year. However, they also have weapons at TE and WR. Randy McMichael is one of the best all around TE's in the league. Chris Chambers is a top notch WR who had 71 catches for 1414 yards and 12 TD's this year. He is a tremendous deep threat. The entire offensive line is solid. Defensively, they are weak along the defensive line with DT Rodrique Wright being their only standout. However, their linebacking crop is one of the best in the NFL with Reggie Torbor leading the group. The secondary is ok but their top S is out and FS Marlon McCree is someone we can pick on. |

End of Season Evaluation from Herb:
Team Performance: 66/100 Franchise Value: 83/100 Profit/Loss: 80/100 Roster Strength: 65/100 Overall Score: 75/100 Notable Retirements: My Backup QB Jay Fiedler RB Deuce McAlliser, NOS DE Reggie Hayward, Jax T Kyle Turley, FA DT Chris Hovan, FA RB Shaun Alexander, Sea WR Hines Ward, Pit OLB Takeo Spikes, Buf T Orlando Pace, Stl. WR Derrick Mason, Bal CB Sam Madison, NYG K Adam Vinatieri, Ind T Jonathan Ogden, Bal ILB Ray Lewis, Bal ILB Tedy Bruschi, NE QB Steve McNair, Dal S John Lynch, Den WR Antonio Bryant, SF It is time to hire a scout. I offer Bruce Etaton 3 years for 800k a year. He is very good at QB's (I'll need to replace McNabb eventually), good at RB's, Fair at WR's, Average at OL, Excellent at Kickers, good at DL/LB/DB's and young talent. He is the best combo of a good QB evaluator and a good Young talent evaluator. The rest of my staff is under contract and will be back. Bruce accepts our offer and our scouting just became much better. We send Sherman "the freak" Gregg to Summer League. He is currently rated 19/28 with tremendous potential in pass rush technique. I'm hoping he can bloom with a bit more playing time this year and live up to his excellent combine results.. I choose not to Franchise Jeremiah Trotter who surprised me by even coming back for another year. He is getting old and I think he is going to have a significant drop-off this year. We'll probably let Omar Gaither take over the MLB job. No change in ticket prices this year. Finally, here is how our new scout views the roster. Interesting how much better he views McNabb: Code:
