Messi's tournament is off to a good start. Nigeria better wake up, it's been a rough five minutes for them. Higuain wasted a good chance.

And right as I type this, goal for Heinze off a corner kick. Great header.

Nigeria's defending is atrocious, but Argentina looks really good regardless. Could get ugly.

Tough to mark on the corner when you're caught in a bear hug.

Argentina is just split seconds off right now. If they start really clicking, this could get REAL ugly. They look very dangerous.

I set up DirecTV upgrade a few weeks ago, not even thinking of today's game. It was set for 8-noon and of course they just called to say it will be closer to noon and the game starts 12:30 PM here. Is it online at ESPN or anywhere else?

The match is at 2:30 eastern. Thinking you aren't in the mountain time zone.

Ahh, thanks. Some reason I was thinking it was 1:30 eastern. Hopefully, the upgrade will be done before the match starts.

Nigeria just seem to refuse to score. Offensively they play like guys who never played together. Poor communication and often going for the 2nd best options. And the wasted corner kicks are killingg me.

Their keeper is playing out of his mind though.

the nigerians played like they were leading and not trailing for some reason in the 2nd half, but in the end also simply ran out of gas.

Messi with a private duel with Enyeama, great game by both of those guys.

Sigh. Installer called an hour ago to say he was running late on the job and should be here just after 12. Now, he just called back to say the job was very complex and he will be here a bit before 1. Anywhere online to watch the game? Otherwise, I'll be watching on my phone when he has to shut down the boxes.

ESPN360 isn't showing the ABC games, but Univision is (in Spanish) - can watch that muted and run the ESPNradio.com feed for audio.

England isn't playing with a DM. That is good for our offensive side of the game, but could be trouble on the defensive side for us.

I would have started Buddle with Jozy and brought in Findlay around the 70'

Ugh, Findley in the starting lineup - our one striker who can't find the goal w/ a map.

Add Clark in midfield and we're pretty much playing for a 0-0 draw.

I think Findley's a good choice.. someone with speed who will take attention off Jozy... then Buddle as a second half sub.

He gives the ball away way too much, can't find the goal ... and his redeeming quality is pace. So he's much better coming on late, after England's defenders have tired.

Just because Gerrard and Lampard do more than a DM does i wouldn´t say they are playing without one. Both are perfectly capable of sliding into this spot on defense, aren´t they ?

btw : I just recognized (been on a trip for 3 weeks ...) that Walcott isn´t on the roster, why is that ? I mean, the guy is the perfect substitute player and you can´t justify a spot for him in a 23 man roster ? Then again i guess the reasoning is that Lennon and Wright-Phillips can fill that role ?

Love that Heskey after all those years still gets the nod without being the least bit dangerous in front of the goal, speaks volumes to his other qualities.

Also really think it´s a great thing that they have Beckham and Ferdinand with the team. Allways am irritated when injured stars just stay home rather than travelling with the team still.

Clark looks f'n lost out there. He keeps losing his man. You would think after letting them score he would pay a little more attention to that.

The English attack is much more fluid and quick than what the US has been able to put together.

one of the laws of nature proven again : English Goalkeepers suck ...

that´s good for the game definitely, forces the english to play more offensive again

Why was Milner substituted ?

Yes, there was at least three blatant times where Cherundolo burned him, just nasty.

SWP has been much more dangerous and pressing in the action.

Carlos and Cherundolo look alright. Gooch, Clark, and Demerit are looking ugly, although Gooch has gotten his head on a couple of crosses.

BTW, Findley looks better in midfield.

I liked the ball control and the slow build by the US in their attack, but I am concerned that their approach gets them ball control and set ups well through two-thirds of the pitch, but then in that last third, they really flub it up. They just haven't seemed dangerous in front of the goal. Altidore needs to be stronger on the ball when he gets his chances. I do like the impact Findley's pace has had on England's backline, but he hasn't put himself in too many spots where he can be dangerous.

It's telling that perhaps the two best non-set piece threats the US posed was Donovan's grounder across the goal from outside of the box and Dempsey's goal--attacks from experienced international players trying to make something happen from further out.

Now's when it's clear how we miss Davies. I really wish he had been healthy enough to play here.

I'm not even going to talk about the defense. That's too depressing.

Didn't Milner also have a yellowcard?

Horrible stop by the England goalie, looking forward to a great second half!

Were the two earlier games any good? I was surprised to only see one goal by Argentina.

BTW, I love that the early Milner sub almost certainly means there is no chance Capello makes the decision to pull Green, as much as he may want to.

I hope Bradley doesn't put his team into a shell in an attempt to get the draw. Play for the win.
