Great bit part by Doogie Howser as well. I saw 'The longest yard' remake and give it 5/10. Almost all of the funny moments were shown on previews (guess that's what you get for waiting on Netflix) but it was harmless enough entertainment. I thought Michael Irvin actually did a decent job, but it's just so hard to take him seriously. |

Alien - 9/10 - I hadn't watched this one since I was a kid.
Aliens - 6/10 - I'd never watched this one before. I had always heard that it was better than the original. It wasn't. Basically, the first half starts out decent, but as it goes along it becomes a standard action movie. It seemed really cliched, but I think this might be the movie that started all the action movie cliches. I was pretty disappointed. The Dead Zone - 9/10 - This is probably my favorite Stephen King adaptation. |

You paused the movie with an hour left to post a rating on a website BTW - Angelina Jolie + great sex scene == moving to top of Netflix list. |

"High Noon" - 10/10
Gary Cooper, Grace Kelly, well-written, well-acted, old fashioned heroes and villains. What more could you want? It also has an actress who I consider to be one of the most exotically beautiful women I've ever seen - Katy Jurado:

Comedian - It was fairly insightful but otherwise pretty boring, and the Adams kid was annoying. 4.2
The Longest Yard (remake) - Never seen the original, I know blasphemy. It wasn't a horrible movie. Had some funny bits, kind of like a poor man's Replacements. Nothing that gave me guffaws. 5.2. |

DVD: The Devil's Rejects - 7.5/10. Thought it was better that House of 1000 Corpses.
Movies: Jarhead 8/10. Very good movie. Not a lot of action, more of about interaction between soldiers and them dealing with training and isolation in the middle fo a desert, plus a lot of comedy in it too. Very good movie IMO. |

Last two movies I saw were "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" and "Serenity"
KKBB has a rather chubby Val Kilmer and a whacked out looking Robert Downey Jr. 8/10. I had heard nothing about this film going into it so it turned into a nice surprise. Serenity was another nice suprise. Got dragged to it by a couple of friends from Minnesota who are nuts on the TV series (which name alludes me as I have not seen it).

The girl next door - 7/10 Not spectacular, but a few moments had me laughing. Nice plot twists as well.
Sideways - 9/10 Loved this movie. Great acting, was a damn good movie. Racing Stripes - 6/10 Not a bad movie at all. More of a kids movie, but the voice acting for the animals was well done. Meet the fockers - 7/10 I think this sequel was pretty good. Not spectacular though. I do enjoy watching Dustin hoffman though.

Just saw:
Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy: 4/10 I didnt' read the books, so maybe I didn't enjoy this as much as others. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: 5/10 Someone mentioned to me before I saw it that Depp was acting like Michael Jackson. Unfortunately I couldn't get past this thought as Depp did act very 'femine' throughout, and I kept expecting him to touch the little boys. Yikes. |

I've read the first 3 books, and re-read this one just a few months ago, so i was quite familiar with it going in. I felt there needed to be a bit more of a realistic sense of fear from the kids in the movie... it just seemed like they hardly grasped the seriousness of what they were being faced with, while i felt that was a bit more present in the book. Then just some minor technical gripes here and there. It was just a tad too clean for my tastes, but worth seeing i would say. |

Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire: 9/10.
Having read the books, I could easily identify things that they either removed or changed to make the movie flow a little better. Some of the things I think were important, though, so that's really the only reason I'm knocking it down. It was otherwise great, Finnes was awesome as Voldemort, and I look forward to seeing it again over turkey day weekend. /tk

In the theater... Just Friends. For the category it falls into I would say an 8/10. It is pretty damn funny, atleast to me. Nothing raunchy really in the movie as far as the gags go, which I thought might have been the case going in. Some funny stuff though, it had me in tears at one point which surprised me.

Layer Cake... 7/10
Very well shot, and a solid performance by Daniel Craig. Though I don't care about the James Bond franchise, I felt he would do the role justice after seeing this movie. And Sienna Miller... my oh my.

We watched Infernal Affairs, which was regrettably dubbed rather than subtitled, but pretty good nonetheless. I had heard really good things, and was slightly disappoitned, but the plot idea is very compelling -- Hong Kong underworld and police each have a "mole" planted on the other side, and they are both essentially racing to figure out who is the other side's mole first, to save themselves.
From the imdb link, I see that this is on its way to being remade/butchered by Hollywood... but I am buoyed by the names Scorcese, DiCaprio, and Damon being attached, so perhaps there's hope for this one to turn out well. Anyway, the original gets 7/10 for me... might have gone a tick higher with subtitles. |

I just watched "Vlad" last night. I'll give it a 3 out of 10.
It was a real stinker. It has a bunch of college students from our current time visit transylvania for background on research papers. Of course they run into Vlad and there is a fight over an ancient piece of jewelry. It turned out to be really silly and of B grade quality. |

Barry Lyndon - 5/10: A few good parts, but Kubrick sure does know how to drag out his movies.
Can't believe it took me so long to see Vanilla Sky - 8/10, though. Man, what a great film, I can't believe people were so on the fence about it. The concept is great.. spoiler: Given the choice, would you rather live a dream (with consequences) for eternity or deal with a normal life and mortality? |

Just watched Adaptation with Nic Cage. I can't decide how to grade it. It was at times funny, introspective, and never boring, but at the same time I can't figure out why I feel underwhelmed. I don't know. 6.5/10

Adaptation is awesome. It loses a lot of people in the last third, but that is kind of the point as Donald starts helping Charlie write the script so all the movie cliches come in (drugs, guns, chase scene, happy ending). The end kind of works better conceptually than it does within the context of the story, but I still really like that movie. It's among my favorites.
