Yep. Nearly fifteen million dollars for one start over twenty-one games. I wonder who the next sucker that steps up will be?

I'm surprised that Matt McGloin somehow made it to be a 2nd string backup. I honestly don't remember much of his college career showing he was worthy of playing in the NFL.

He played pretty well in the preseason. Seems more of a gritty 3rd stringer though.

I am just glad we have one quarterback who looks like he may be a player in this league.

That would be amazing if it came to fruition.

However, according to Adam ShefLer, on twitter, he is going to the Lions.

I know it's still early but if the Eagles don't make a miracle run it would be nice to see the 18-0 Saints versus the 18-0 Broncos in the Super Bowl. Just so Mercury Morris and company can shove their champagne somewhere.

Though I bet that Morris would come out with some stupid statement about it not really counting since two teams didn't lose going into the Super Bowl?

I imagine Morris wouldn't make any statement because he'd be too worried about the hidden guy with an axe in his backseat, his stomach exploding due to pop rocks and soda. or the babysitter getting a call from inside the house.

Is it weird that I'm an AFC guy even when it comes to teams that play in the Dolphins (my favorite team) division? Jets-Falcons? Even though I hate the Jets, I found myself rooting for them against the Falcons.

So the Jets get a TD to go up 12 in the 4th, and they don't even think about going for 2. Kick the extra point...and a few minutes later, the Falcons go down for an easy TD and are now just down 6.

Yes. I don't root for the Pats, Bills, or (especially) Jets unless it somehow benefits the Dolphins by knocking another team out of the playoff hunt. And even then I feel dirty afterwards.

Looked like the Falcons defender was afraid to push Geno out of bounds there.

I am a big Jets fan, so obviously I like the outcome. But if I am a defender, I don't know what to do there. You hit him and you probably will get a 15 yard unnecessary roughness call (like Tampa did in week 1), you don't hit him and he tip toes up the sideline for 7 yards. It is tough to be a defender in this NFL.

So at this point should Mike Smith be worried about his job? This has been a terrible start to the season, and it's looking like they're in major trouble for a playoff spot.

Wildcard standings:
Chicago
San Francisco
Arizona
Green Bay
Philadelphia
St. Louis
Washington
Minnesota
Carolina

I know it's early, but if we look at realistic shots here, the Falcons are 2 games back and there are 7 teams between them and the 2nd wildcard spot. It would take a hell of a finish to even get to the playoffs at this point. You have to think they need to go 9-2 the rest of the way, and they still have Seattle, New Orleans, @ Green Bay and @ San Francisco on the schedule.

I think that 9-7 team will sneak into the NFC playoffs as the #6 team

Can the Falcons go 8-3 the rest of the way, of course. The team has suffered some major injuries, especially on defense, and it seems unlikely though. Last night they started not one but TWO LBs that Ive never heard of. Like ever.

That's almost impossible given the amount of football, college and pro, that I watch. Folks like to focus on the big name injuries (mostly due to FF) but the real nuts and bolts are missing OL and DEF.

Look at the Browns. Losing Joe Haden > not having Richardson. Its a fact. Hell, they put some scrub journeyman at QB who was playing better than anyone that they had taking snaps for years. Including 1st round picks.

Yes, Weeden is a big downgrade from Hoyer. Cleveland will win in spite of him rather than because of him.

Considering Atlanta has lost 4 games by 1 score or less and all of the teams they have lost to have winning records, I don't see how you can say that.

The Giants got shutout by the 1-3 Panthers.

I see SF as the biggest disappointment. After the year they had last year, adding Boldin, I thought they were going to be like Denver, winning pretty easily week in and week out.

Thinking that's a bit of an overreaction. They're in the playoffs were they to start today, and despite both losses being "blowouts", they were actually very close games until late in the second half. One in the hardest place to play in the NFL, and the other to the only team to beat Seattle thus far. Not to mention injuries - this team is missing it's best CB, LB, DT, DE and WR, and their TE has been dinged up as well.

Has it been a disappointing start? Yes. Biggest disappointment in football? I think not.

San Fran will be fine. Losing to Seattle in Seattle is nothing to be ashamed of. No team has a better home field advantage than the Seahawks (regardless of the eardrum rupturing decibels in Kansas City). The Colts are no joke either. They're pretty banged up, but they'll still make the playoffs. I don't see them as a disappointment.

I think the Giants are the most surprising. They've really been bad. They've been smacked around by some teams that aren't that great. They have no running game, Eli has thrown a ton of picks and their defense isn't getting pressure on the QB.

You could see the Pittsburgh decline coming, though I am not sure anyone quite expected it to hit this fast.

The Falcons are pretty disappointing as well. Yes, all the games they've lost were close games to teams with winning records and their defense is pretty depleted by injury, but given their record last year and expectations going into the season this year, a 1-4 start is very surprising and disappointing.

As a lifelong Lion's fan I can never muster any pity or sadness for any suffering team or fan base, other than the Cleveland Browns.

I think the Giants giving Jacksonville on a run for their money in terms of being the worst is the winner for most disappointing. Atlanta, regardless of the close games, would be next.

Why does the score matter? 1-4 is still 1-4 and they were basically 1 play from the superbowl last year, opposed to the Giants who didn't make the playoffs last season.
