You paid your referees well it seems.

Game should never have gone to OT, the calls in the 3rd were utter shit. That said they'd better give Rask a huge fucking contract because anyone else in goal and this series is over already and Boston's out. Very impressed with Rask's play.

Sucks the refs decided this one and not the players.

I wouldn't be so pissed if Buffalo players lost the game. Just hate the refs decided it.

Calls were suspect but I had a bad, bad feeling throughout the third and the two OTs.

Simply put, Buffalo deserves to be down 3 to 1 right now. Stafford should be cut right now - he's completely useless and then jumps on the ice to bring on the too many men penalty.

Pominville is a disgrace - $5 million a year for that effort and production? Connolly, Roy...the good players just aren't stepping up their games (other than Miller of course, who was brilliant again last night).

I still won't give up hope though and will be at the arena tomorrow night rooting them on.

The Devils' fans should be ashamed that some of them were cheering when Laperriere got his face sliced open by a shot.

As I am typing that I see the Penguins second goal replay. How did that count? The net came off.

Is there anywhere to find NHL box scores? I was trying to find how many saves Roy and Vanbiesbrouck made in game 4 of the finals in 1996.

Goaltender Patrick Roy stopped all 63 shots he faced.

Looking for Beezers numbers.

I just did two searches. One was "Game 4 1996 Stanley Cup finals" and the other was "How many saves did Vanbiesbrouck have in Game 4 of the 1996 Stanley Cup finals".

Roy's numbers I got from Wiki. I forget the other site I got Beezer's numbers from.

Sabres finally proved they can play 3 great periods. Charra thought he was all that with his cage, he was tentative all night with out it, and then when he steps up, he gets it big time...I wonder if he puts the cage on in Boston.

Ok, I'm finally starting to get into hockey, and I'm currently watching the Sharks/Avs game. Quick question... the Avs had an empty net, Setoguchi grabbed the loose puck and the announcer said "he needs to get to center ice", then he shoots and scores. Was he simply saying he needs to get there to get a better look at the shot, or is it a rule that you need to get to center ice to shoot at an empty net? May sound like a stupid question, but like I said, I'm just now starting to watch and get into this, and I remember after the strike season they came up with some new rules.

If he missed the net and wasn't across the red line, the Avs could touch up for icing.

He needed to get to center ice before he shot the puck so that if he missed the net it would not be an icing call resulting in a face off in his own end.

Thanks guys. I'm an idiot, that was obvious, completely overlooked icing... just the way he phrased it threw my mind, "needs to get to center ice to shoot".

Saw the end of the Nashville / Chicago game at a local sportsbar/restaurant place yesterday. What was up with the 5 minute major call at the end? Looked like the Chicago player gave the guy a little shove, the Nashville player goes FLYING into the boards but takes the entire hit on his back / shoulders, lays on the ice for like 5 minutes, refs completely ignore him to break up the fight, and the Chicago player gets 5 minutes for a little shove. Looked like one of those soccer plays with the guy writhing on the ground because he tripped over a blade of glass. Unless I completely missed something.

And of course Chicago scored the tying goal shorthanded, then won it shortly after the penalty expired in OT, so I guess no harm / no foul. Just seemed weird.

Anytime a guy gets pushed from behind, probably SHOULD be a penalty, as it's written, but they are particularly keen on plays that occur about 6-10 feet from the boards. Closer in, the player typically hits the glass/wall like any other hit. Further out, player slides to the boards.

At that distance, he can't stop/slow himself and results in head injuries.

Penalize the play, not the result. Just because he didn't hit his head, still a penalty.

Also, they are just trying to keep Hossa from suffering the shame of losing in the SCF again.

Last year Penguins blew a chance to close out the 4-5 series in game 5 at home, then fell behind 3-0 in game 6 before winning.

Only this year, Max Talbot didn't have to get the snot beat out of him to make it happen.

But you can call a 2 minute boarding minor. That was never in a million years a 5 minute major and the refs are very lucky that Chicago came out on the winning end anyway.

Funny thing is, the pundits were surprised Hossa wasn't tossed and he isn't getting a suspension because that has been the case for this penalty throughout the season.

Murhpy and Potvin were the two analysts on NHL on the Fly on NHL Net last night.

Potvin actually said he expects Hossa to get a game. I don't see it. Ovy got a suspension following the Campbell hit because it was his 2nd (3rd?) offense.

It would be nice to see the Red Wings not to give up four goals. Their defense has been top notch, or non-existent.

Kind of off topic, since the Thrashers missed the playoffs but forward Max Afinogenov is part of a great story that came out today in Birmingham, Alabama, where he took part in a pickup hockey game while in town to watch his girlfriend play tennis.

I don't have a problem with him being a super-homer though - I mean he is a Bruins announcer on a Bruins station. Not like he's on a national broadcast. I thought the call was pretty funny though...made me LOL

Whatever he said at the end of the game was good, too.
