Fran didn't make a big deal about it - but he had heart problems all his life and had numerous surgeries which unfortunately never truly gave him a normal life. He was a talented designer and incredibly upbeat and cheerful despite all the obstacles he faces in his life - he'll be missed by all of us who knew him. PS - I'd known him since he was a teenager and he contacted me asking about how we created (back then) CM, I spoke to him semi-regularly and he eventually came onboard as first QA and then eventually as a programmer at SI ... unfortunately due to his health issues he had to leave after a few years (by which time I was in the US) but he stayed in contact with quite a few of us. That's just awful. He seemed like a really nice guy and I think he would have made a great game. I never knew that about his heart and I think that's even more a credit to his memory that he stayed so upbeat through all this.
