That Alabama defense is scary.

How may more times are Vince and Gary going to call someone on the Tide Manziel?

Tennessee's 2nd half might be interesting. Let's see who quits & who wants to play football.

I like how the halftime announcers basically talked about A&M's errors and how awesome Manziel is. Yep, 'Bama did nothing like score 28 straight points.

Well, Syracuse has finally found a team they can do something against on offense. Unfortunately, it's 1-AA Wagner, but we'll take what we can get.

Manziel has a ton of physical talent, but I think it would be a mistake for him to leave for the NFL after this season. He has to grow up a bit.

Not if NFL GM's learned any lessons from drafting guys like Ryan Leaf and Cade McNown.

Look here CBS, if you are going to spend all this time focusing on the "gestures" of college football players, I am going to need you to take a class or something to know exactly what the "meaning" of the gestures are.

What's the similarity Between Manziel and Leaf and McNown?

Talent will ultimately be the deciding factor. Leaf and McNown would have been busts even if they volunteered at the animal humane society every week. Manziel will grow up, and if he has the talent to play in the NFL, he'll succeed there. Many, if not most, elite college QBs think very highly of themselves during their college years and live the life. Nobody will care about autographs if Manziel can play at the next level, just like nobody will care about Cam Newton's shenanigans if he can ultimately be successful. Dan Marino's stock plunged because he was coke-head dumb jock. But then he became an adult.

Just going with the odds, in that he's not the first arrogant big-time star college football player in the history of the universe, despite how it's portrayed. I can't even imagine what it would have been like if we had this kind of media attention on guys in the 80s, in terms of what parties they went to wearing what jerseys, ect. I still think Manziel is an amusing side show compared to what went on then (and now in other places). Going back further, I don't think Joe Namath would have made it through college in the modern era. Personally, I don't mind it because I think those kind of characters make sports fun. It's fun when they back it up, and it's fun when the go down in flames. It's fun to have a sports universe that contains both classy workmanlike guys and crazy party-boys.

Question for everyone.
The announcers just said Iowa States stadium is the only football stadium in the United States named after a black person.

Is that true?

I'm fairly sure it's not true if you extend it to every level. At the D1 level, seems quite possible.

And another punt by ISU. 3 possessions, 3 punts for them. 2 possessions 1 punt and a fumble for us.

Well this got a lot more interesting. Huge swing of events with the red zone turnover combined with the 90+ TD.

Should've onsides kicked it.

Does Alabama teach their offensive linemen to push up on the D-linemen's facemask? It wouldn't hurt the refs to call illegal hands to the face once if you're gonna throw flags on D-linemen who play without a helmet... (saw it in the FSU game too)

Assuming the rule is same as the new one for HS (and they often are very similar on stuff like that) then yes. You pretty must stop activity immediately upon losing your helmet, allowed to complete the current action (i.e. they don't expect you to literally stop in mid-air in case you were diving when it came off).

You do anything else, that's a penalty.
Anybody touches you, that's a penalty on them.

Irritated that I'm already hearing this called a classic. As far as i remember, Texas A&M never had the ball down only one score the entire second half. Any time they cut it to one score, Bama simply scored again.

He still put up 464 yards with 5 TDs against the Tide. He'll put up enough numbers through the season that there will be little doubt about him going pro, and I can't wait until he's gone. I know there are a number of quality QB prospects out there, but you know somebody is going to be willing to roll the dice. Hell, I would think the Eagles would want him to be running that offense since you know Vick won't be around forever.

Yup. As much as the announcers were getting on Manziel for throwing that end zone pick (and that receiver did a terrible job tracking the ball), I couldn't understand why they kept lining Evans up on the near side hash. Maybe he can only play the right side, but it seems like you put him left on the wide side, you either have a 1v1 jump ball that he'll probably win, or Alabama's forced to put 2 defenders out there and give you a +1 to run the ball.

Kevin Sumlin also hurt them with clock management at the end of both halves. End of the 1st half he didn't call the TO after the Manziel scramble, it took them 15 seconds to run the next play, and they end up having time run out on a catch inside the 30 they could've gotten a FG attempt off... then 2nd half he didn't call TO's once Alabama was 1st and goal and obviously running the clock down every play. You were still going to have to recover an onside kick if they got any points, might as well do it with more time on the clock. (And on the off chance Alabama turned the ball over or missed a FG you don't need timeouts with 2+ minutes and that offense.)

So far, looking like a repeat of week 1 vs. Boise State - the Huskies are playing well, but shooting themselves in the foot just enough that the scoreboard doesn't reflect it. Up only 10-3, mainly because the Big Ten refs think only Pac-12 teams commit penalties.

I'm encouraged by the offense & defense, and I think they'll pull away in the 2nd half, but it's a lot closer than I'd prefer at this point.

Well I'll be darned. The Kicker for the SC Gamecocks wears little wire-frame glasses. I can't remember the last time I saw a football player wearing glasses like he just showed up from English class.
