If Anxiety is OK with it, I'd be happy to be moved down below Chubby and Chief Rum.

I'm fine with that, but I think Chief Rum should be before me, because he's never hosted a game.

Throw me back in the mix to run one as well. I figure that with the list as long as it currently is I should be able to come up with something OK between now and my turn.

That's what I was saying. Moving both of us behind Rum and Chubby. Seems like you're ok with this, so blade go ahead and move us back.

I would like to run a game based around "The Three Musketeers". I plan on it being a basic game, but with a good dose of special roles. Please put me on the list.

FYI -- I'm out of the country on vacation from 9/20-10/6. I believe that we'll have time to get my game in before that since Tangle is starting on 8/30, but if his runs long I might have to bump my name down one spot.

By the looks of the current game we've got a few days to go -- since I'm out from the 20th through October 6th I think I'm going to have to request to be bumped down a spot and then will be able to run the next game starting after 10/6.

OK, I know I'm all over the place with this, but since this game ended a bit earlier than I anticipated, I think if we start on Monday we can probably get my game in on time -- I'll keep my spot in line and start signups late tonight/tomorrow morning for a Monday day 1.

I am next on the list after mckerney and my game is ready, but I leave the country for 10 days on the 28th, so if Mckerney doesn't respond #3 on the list will need to go. I'm ready for when I return though.

#3 on the list? Why damn that would be me. I am so glad I have off tomorrow. I will try and pump out a set of rules as I want to avoid doing another sequel, though I do have a rule set for To Crown a King, pretty much ready.

I've debated, since I do have a week long vacation the second week in October, but by then mckerny and/or alan t would likely be ready to go so the timing would, in many ways, be worse. So I think I'm going to keep the spot, despite it's unexpected early arrival.

I come back october 8th, and my game is ready any time. But I am pretty flexible, so can move back a little more if its inconvienant for you Barkeep..

Maybe right now is a good time for someone who's willing to run a basic/simple game since those are good from time to time to mix in. Then you can go after that game Barkeep? I can go after you're done Barkeep.

I have a simple game ready, similiar to my last, but with some of the "problems" solved. Ready anytime.

My upcoming game is definitely not simple, but hopefully has a high "fun" factor that will entice people to play despite a medium/challenging rule set.

dont misunderstand my comments from the end of the animal farm game...i am not saying that the recent round of games has not been fun. nor am i saying that we shouldnt have various rulesets and various difficulty level. my point was that i think we have fallen into a bit of a one-upsmanship situation, where everyone is trying to make their game somehow better than the ones before it, and in doing so, have overcomplicated things to the point that the games are becoming frustrating at points instead of fun the entire time.

my ego would like to think that i ran two games that people enjoyed quite a bit, and the Harry Potter game was one of the most simple games we have ever had...all i was saying is that we dont have to reinvent the wheel every two weeks when a new game starts, not that i thought we should make people change their signatures to their role for the duration of the game to make it easy...a challenging task is great fun...an insurmountable task can become more of a burden than fun.

saldana: I haven't read your commentary but I don't think I disagree with you. I think Spawn 2 was far too complex, actually, and have been glad we've had some simpler games as they have had some excellent role play.

Saldana, I didn't take it in that way at all. I was just mentioning that if we are looking for a "simple game" (know you love that phrase) to bump up the list that I know the one I've been working on does not fit that bill.

I think that there is plenty of room for creativity in the format. The more complex, or less defined rule sets, are probably not as easy to pick up for newer players. So I completely agree with the idea that we should ideally run a mixture of game types.

Personally, I don't think there is an element of one-upsmanship as much as each person having a vision of what they want their game to deliver. I have aspects of the game that I find to be the most fun, so I will likely incorporate that kind of logic into my games. I try to run a game that I think I would have a blast playing, and hope that others feel that way at the end.

I personally like complex games, although my next game won't be as complex. Here's what I'm thinking of doing:

Set in Bree in Middle Earth. Four factions, two on each side. Light has Rangers and Townsfolk. Dark has servants of Saruman and Sauron. Each faction has its own winning conditions, and it is possible for both good factions to win under the right conditions, but not both evil factions, since both evil factions are vying for power.

Outside of that element, the roles will be relatively standard with only a few bells and whistles tossed in for fun.

I think the idea of four factions, two on each side would be interesting to see in gameplay, and I haven't seen it yet since I started playing around ten games ago or so.

Anxiety, I know that Dubb had planned to do a multi-faction game as well at one point, but never did.

I'm planning on doing a Marvel comics theme, very loosely based on the "Twelve" storyline. While that was strictly an X-Men game, this would be open for any Marvel hero or villain. Players select their character, I then assign a series of "powers" for each of the characters that may or may not match up with conventional werewolf roles. In this format everyone has a unique role; hopefully many players get someone they already have an attachment to from reading comics.

That is actually a bit similar to the Bree game I had tossed around on here a bit before. I kept running into an issue where I had like 6 different winning conditions for people and it almost became like Free for All Werewolf..

I'm looking forward to your game as J.R.R Tolkien is my all time favorite setting for literature and something I've probably read more on than anything else we've had WW about.

Agreed on Tolkien being a natural setting for these games. I would say Middle Earth and the Matrix universe, are two themes that I have been waiting to see happen.

I'm leaving for south america tommorrow, I'm sad I won't be able to see how Barkeep's game progresses till much later, its looking like a very fun game.

I'll be back on the 8th, and my game is all set to go if Barkeep's is done by then. I'm hoping everyone will enjoy it, I've tried my best to create a game that remains fairly basic as far as what players have to do, while trying to incorperate as many people as possible in the game. Even the vanilla roles won't be vanilla... I've spent alot of time hopefully to give every player some form of personality, and actually create a village for the setting.

See you all when I'm back on the 8th

I think the key to something like this is to have Q doing it for his amusement. Once you have that in place the doors open wider as to what is possible.
