I believe with Carolina's win, Detroit jumps over TB for the #2 pick. A shame Suh will go #1.

I have no idea WTF is happening here but I like it! Too bad that all Carolina is playing for is trying to give San Francisco the worst 1st round pick possible.

Vikings, you can't make a game of it now. Knock it off.

Vikings O Line needs a wake up call. What a pathetic effort.
Things never change. Put the Vikings on grass and they suck. I'm glad this happned. Childress calls a conservative game early and this is what happens. Athough thinking about it he was probably doing it to fire up that line that has turned into a bunch of whimps. All Pro tackle Bryant McKinnie gets benched. Funny stuff. He needs it. Have the Vikes turned into a passing team with an average running game? I can't understand how a team can run the ball with Tarvaris Jackson but can't run the ball with Brett Favre at QB.

A tale of two Hart High quarterbacks...the one who got all the press is the backup in St. Louis, of all places, while the other one just knocked off the 2nd best team in the NFC.

Their line has turned into a bunch of whimps. They are playing lazy because they were scoring points by passing the ball so they got complacent. Childress called a conservative game early which kept the Vikings from getting on the board. Apparently Childress hasnt accepted the fact that his line has forced him to be a passing team. The signs that Childress is clueless are coming back. I love his comment out of halftime. "We could have gotten 62 yards at the half by not even practicing the week." That comment alone says a lot about his coaching. The Panthers played this game with a lot of pride and heart while the Vikings played it like a preseason game and got stomped in every possible way. Not a good sign as championship teams dont pass up on opportunities like this. Last edited by jbergey22 : 12-20-2009 at 11:05 PM. |

Frustrating season.
At least the team is competitive now. Hopefully, next season we can improve the O-line and get a pass rusher with our two #1 picks and FA. Also another year with the same OC would help even though I don't think Jimmy Raye is the answer, but the team can NOT switch coordinators again.

Childress tried to bench Favre in the 3rd quarter leading 7-6. WTF?
I'd love to hear his explanation for that. |

The 49ers need the Panthers to lose out. They need to get a RT with the 1st of the #1 picks (unless by some miracle a Berry or someone drops that far) and maybe even the 2nd pick; some edge rushing would be nice as well, but the line desperately needs help. I think Staley is a solid T but jesus, the teams needs time for its offensive playmakers.

It's crazy how AD can have a bad game, but still get over a 100 yards from scrimmage, thats hella impressive. He is clearly the best running back in the game to me. I know Chris Johnson this , Chris Johnson that. I still think AD is #1.

Don't take this the wrong way, but this reminds me a lot of the Jets' season last year. Of course the Vikings will make the playoffs and all but there are a lot of similarities. Good to great running team that just needed a competent QB to make a few throws for them. They get good QB play and all of a sudden, they start tossing the ball 40+ times a game. Then they can't run the ball anymore. Now the QB does not have to just make a few throws, he has to win the game every week.

It wasn't though. They are still playing for a bye and have a small shot at the top seed.
Not to mention that I think it is more of a mental loss to have to bench your QB in a tight game because you've conceded your offensive line is horseshit. |

Delhomme was not in there throwing picks. Like many other teams, Carolina was a half-decent (or at least a non-turnover-machine) QB from being right back in the playoffs.

And Jim Zorn officially tops Lane Kiffin's 76-yard FG attempt from last year on the "I don't give a fuck" scale.

If anyone else confronted their coach like Favre did in these situations, they would be trashed left and right. With Favre, it's excused and even worshipped. He's a self-centered ego maniac who happens to be a talented QB. There is no way the Vikings will win the Super Bowl and he's the reason. He will kill this team at some point with his ego and poor decision making, and I won't feel sorry for him or the Vikings one bit. They knew what they were getting. |

And to think the Vikings won't win a Super Bowl because of him? There will be a lot more holding the Vikings back than Favre. Childress will be the one who ends up having a bigger impact, unfortunately.
IF the Vikings can avoid playing outside after the first round, they'll be JUST FINE and have a very good chance at getting to the Super Bowl. I WILL start to worry if they lose again next Monday night against the Bears IF the Eagles win, Cowboys lose and Giants win. That will give me the willies. |

No, but the coach should have benched his ass agains tthe Packers when he audible dot that dumb pass when time and a run play were mor eimportnat. Childress said he was going to bench Farve then, he let his OC talk him out of hit, Farve heard later and got pissed. Childress was totally in his right to bench Farve if he does soemthing than what he was told, and should nat have let his OC talk him down.

Running the ball on 3rd and 9 with over 3 minutes to go isn't always the right call, even if you're up by 10. I'd pass it, but not the deep pass that Favre threw. They were having so much success passing that day that they shouldn't have been running the ball at all.

If the coach cant handle who he brought in he should be fired. What did he expect? Favre has been taken out of the game early 6 times this year. If Favre wants to over rule a foolish coach that thinks he needs to bench his MVP in close games I dont blame Favre one bit. Can you imagine Caldwell trying to bench Manning up 7-6 in a position to clinch a home field playoff spot or up 10 against a division rival? I'm thinking Caldwell would be packing his bags and Manning would be staying in the game. Last edited by jbergey22 : 12-21-2009 at 10:02 PM. |

I didn;t defend pulling Farve is anything else, I'm just saying that Farve's audible to a deep pass when up by ten and the coach and OC want you to run out the clock is bad, you do as your coach says. Childress should have followed his gut and benched Favre, and remind him who is in charge. We all know Favre was going for more blood against the Packers, for personal reasons, and he would have been justifired, then, not in any other plac,e but then to remind Favre that the game is about the team, not his personal vendetta.

I agree with you in principle, however there would be considerable pouting solicited by move. And when Brett Favre pouts, texts about feeling unappreciated get send to Chris Mortensen, "rumors" of dissatisfaction and locker room splits begin appearing in the press, Bus Cook chimes in out of nowhere with a "nothing's wrong" comment (which can only mean that something is quite wrong), and contemplations of retirement begin. The Viking's next destination is Distractionville. Childress is really the dumbass in this scenario. He knew what he was getting in Favre, so he should know better than to be playing with this particular fire. |
