Race #12 Federated Auto Parts 400 from Richmond Highlights

Check out the highlights to see one of the craziest crashes in FOFC history.

I've never seen anything quite like it. Both accidents started with one car spinning out trying to get into pit lane and then everyone doesn't know what to do. The one problem with the game is it was made before NASCAR changed the rules to disallow racing back to the caution flag so whenever theres a caution the drivers don't seem to understand how to slow down.

That was the funniest accident in the history of FOFC racing. Glad we trained pit row crash avoidance as much as we did. Nice to see a bit of a bounce back from the boys after the last couple.

As somebody whose team is struggling in this iteration of the Series, I have a silly competitive balance suggestion -- make the series winner reveal a few of their ratings each year. I get the sense that some of us are fumbling around in the dark, while others that have NR2003 experience know what's up.

I've been trying to come up with a few ways we could add a bit more parity to the series while still making sure it is not completely a toss up either.

One way I've been thinking of is changing over the car stats part of the ratings. Keep the driver stats as is and that would continue to be the random part of the series and where drivers can make their improvements. What I was thinking of for the car stats is giving everyone the same settings. In the game you can have a minimum number and a maximum number. My thought is to set the minimum at 80 and maximum at 100. Every time we start the race the game randomly assigns a rating between 80 and 100 to your driver for that race. Or set the stats at 70-100 for 3 of the 4 car stats and then pick one where your driver or team excels at and set that at 85-100.

I really do feel like car stats are what probably causes the greatest divide among the drivers and if you don't have it just right your driver will suffer. We could leave it up to the driver and not the car. Any other suggestions would be great, always trying to find any way to make the series more competitive.

If you know the way the games settings are you can dominate and I wouldn't mind decreasing that a bit. I've done enough messing around with it where if I wanted to I could probably have Cannon winning 4-5 races a year but I've decided to give him a random middle of the road setup and hope for the best.

The offline league I used to be in did something similar to that. We only adjusted our driver stats and never even knew the car stats were there so I'm not sure what they were set at.

And getting back to the race, what a run for Killinger. Wish we would have gotten the win though but we will take it.

Next up for the series is the Sears Point road course. This could really make the point standings interesting with only two races remaining after this one.

I have never played this game. So I was happy when Hawk won a race. Even though it was a race too late.

In nascar, the cars are pretty much the same arent they? A few tweks here and there. But for the most part there isnt a huge difference. ]
I like just tinkering with the drivers and have the cars all similar.

Would, say, a 20 point allowance to tweak a car at the beginning of the season make a huge difference? What Im saying is to have a set number for the car stats, then each owner has 20 points to play with.

Something like that could definitely work. Set all 4 car stats to 80 and then each driver gets 20 to add to that however they wish.

Yeah for the most part all the top teams in Nascar have very similar strength cars so it wouldn't be unrealistic at all to have that here.

Wish this would have it's own sub forum.

It kinda feels way too random. My guys have been trash, and then Bonaparte suddenly kills it.

Some very brief reading on the game kinda shows me why my cars have sucked so badly.

Bonaparte has been an interesting one to watch. He's had quite a few races where he has ran up in the top ten only to get involved in someone else's mess or just have his car completely fall off.

Race #13 of 15 - Toyota/Save Mart 350 Results

You never quite know what to expect from a road course race. Drivers that may not normally run up front may surprise you with their road racing skills. Rob Nielsen took the pole in this one and led the race's first 22 laps before losing the lead to Billy Bushinhimer. Bushinhimer was in control for most of the day's action and led for 67 laps, but didn't lead the laps that counted. With 12 laps remaining, the #06 Kroger car of Deacon Palmer took the lead in turn 7 and cruised to the victory by over 7 seconds. Bushinhimer had to settle for 2nd, in 3rd was Seamus Archer, Bo Danville was 4th and Aaron Kappe was the first playoff contender in 5th.

As for the other playoff drivers, Wheely McStephens was 8th followed by Rob Nielsen in 9th. David Ginsberg came home 11th, Luke Duke was 15th, Bo Duke 24th, Mustafa Henderson 25th, Stroker Ace 29th, Red Neckanback 31st, Wallace Bryant 32nd, Blue Neckansack 38th and Patrick Hutt finished last in 42nd after spinning off the track a few times during the race.

I would have to say Henderson's championship hopes are just about over now after that poor run. It would take a miracle now. Time for Bushinhimer to take out Ginsberg, Nielsen, McStephens, the Duke Boys, Kappe and Ace for us.

Race #14 of 15 - Southern 500 Results

Bo Duke and the #01 team came up huge when it mattered most today at Darlington. With only two races remaining and Duke on the verge of falling out of contention with a bad run, him and his team had a great day at Darlington. Duke started 18th and quickly moved his way up where he ran in the top 5 all day until the final 31 laps of the race where he made a great move diving underneath the #48 of Ginny Tonic to take the lead and the win by 11 seconds.
Tonic finished 2nd after leading 61 laps, in 3rd was Dexter Jackson who led 95 laps, Cannon was 4th and Rob Nielsen was the second playoff driver in 5th. Al Cohallik led the most laps on the day, 123, before finishing 22nd.

Playoff drivers were Bo Duke 1st, Nielsen in 5th, McStephens in 7th, Ginsberg 9th, Neckansack 13th, Luke Duke 18th, Hutt 21st, Henderson 23rd, Ace 24th, Bryant 27th, Neckanback 41st and Kappe 42nd.

Rob Nielsen retakes the points lead by 2 over David Ginsberg with only 1 race left. Wheely McStephens is 3rd, 6 points back Nielsen and Bo Duke in 4th is 14 points back of the lead. All four drivers have a shot at the title Wednesday at Homestead. Luke Duke isn't officially eliminated but would need a miracle to win.

At lap 75. McStephens is 2nd, Nielsen 6th, Ginsberg 13th and Bo Duke 42nd.

Bo's day and championship hopes are done. During green flag pit stops, Duke was leaving his pit stall as Dicky Woodhouse came into his stall and crushed the front end of Duke's car. The damage was too much to repair and his day is done.

Nielsen 1200
McStephens 1198
Ginsberg 1191

Great move by Rob Nielsen. Green flag pit stops have begun. Neckansack went in a lap early for his stop. As Ginsberg and Grey decided to pit Nielsen made the move to stay out, lead a lap and pick up a bonus point. I'll update after the pit stops are done and everything is set again.

This will shuffle things up and looks to have possibly ruined any shot McStephens had. A yellow has flown for a crash involving Cannon Pace and Mike Schaplowsky. Not all of the green flag stops were complete and McStephens may be trapped a lap down now.

Nielsen is your leader at lap 210 as we are about to go back to green. Ginsberg sits 5th. McStephens 25th. Only 6 cars are on the lead lap but that will change quickly. Everyone in positions 7-29 will actually start ahead of the top 6 on the restart. This will get very interesting.

During the caution, David Ginsberg ran straight into the back of Wallace Bryant. I'm not sure if he didn't see him or not but there is definite damage to the car. This could be Rob Nielsen's championship. We will see how things shake out.
