My Niners are getting spanked right now.

Excellent. My sizable parlay on the Rams and the Under payed off.

Special thanks to Dennis Erickson. I couldn't have done it without you.

Do I need to give another reason why I love Farve? Only he could pull something like that .

Got to see IND/JAX, ATL/CAR today (oh and some of the STL/SF, but well, you know). Jacksonville, even though they lost looked VERY solid. That defense looks very good and Leftwich had a great game. Taylor? Not so much.

And for all those whining about Duckett, did you see that last drive? That's what Duckett can bring. He gets better as he gets more and more carries. It was great to see him running over people. Maybe that can drive his stock up so someone like Miami deals their 1st round pick this year or something for him (they are that dumb... you never know) .

The man's legend only grows with each game he plays. Today was just completely unreal.

One last recap:

suffers a concussion
misses two plays
goes back onto the field without doctor's approval
throws a touchdown pass on the first play back (on 4th and 5!)
is held out of the rest of the game

You can't make this stuff up!

edit: thanks for the reminder there Isiddiqui

Oh, and in addition to that... the TD pass... it was on 4th and 5 .

The man is going to be remembered in NFL lore for years and years. You'll have people telling their favorite Farve story for as long as we can remember.

And what happened to the Titans. They have just fallen apart at the seams. They didn't get hit by the injury bug but a full scale plague down there.Maybe its time to trade McNair or even Mason since next years is itcontract wise for both and resigning them is very slim.I hate to sell the farm so soon but 27 seasons as a OIler/Titans fan tells me they are finished for this year as far a playoff run is concerned.I would say they should start looking at retooling. But boy what a run Fisher had with them. They were the winningest team in the last decade I do believe.I guess the fall can be attributed to the NFL as it is and free agency.

Yeah, I remembered the 4th and 5 thing right after I posted. Too good.

I find it impossible not to like the guy. Anyone who seems to enjoy and respect the game as much as he does is just awesome.

And of course every team in the league passed on him until the Falcons had him, let him rot on the bench and then dealt him to the Packers who kept him behind the Majik man, until an injury Wally Pipp'ed him .

So would I. The Falcons defense is amazing. Green Bay must be kicking themselves for letting Donatell go for ONE PLAY! Oh well, their loss .

I would most certainly take that bet. .500 ball from here on out probably gives them the division.

It's going to be a long season for the entire NFC North unless you're a Vikings fan. Even there....

I betcha the Lions grab a Wild Card spot this year. Amazing. And maybe the Bears can draft Williams from USC to give Grossman someone to throw to.

Wow, the 49ers were bad. Is it really true they have something like $40 million in dead cap space, or was that just Summerall's fading memory again?

I don't know but at one point Summeral said Erickson was 7-12 last year for the 49ers.

Not 40 mill, but pretty bad:

The 49ers head into the season with a $28 million pot of dead money - cap space occupied by players no longer on the team - that far outweighs that of any other NFL team.

Especially considering this was the first division game (and it was at the home of the best team in the division). The Falcons should not lose more than two of their remaining division games. They are at this point by far the favorite to win the NFC South.

No one thought the Vikes could blow it either.

If Vick gets hurt, Falcons have no shot.

I think they can win without Vick this year. He is not the reason they are #2 in scoring defense and #1 in rushing defense, and that is the reason they are 4-0.

Yes, but he keeps their defense off of the field. If a new QB comes in and they can't move the ball, the D will be on the field a lot more, and no matter how good they are, those numbers will go up.

.. Oh and yes, you'll be 4-1 after Sunday, when Roy Williams dismantles their secondary.

Yeah, I am a Lions fan, but just you wait.

Not if they are still #1 in rushing. They are that with his help, but even without him they can run the ball. Alex Gibbs is a genius.

I don't think they can win without Vick. Yes the defense is good now but I suspect they will not maintain this pace. They'll be good but not #1 or #2 good over the season.

To make some noise will require Vick and the offense to make some strides and really improve on what they are doing. Vick can do it; I'm not so sure Schaub can. Also, the fact the defenses have to account for Vick and waste time spying or scheming helps.

There's something intangible about having him out there. Look at 2 years ago.

But this isn't last years team. This team can go .500 the rest of the way without Vick. .500 from here wins the NFC South.

That's true. I was thinking more in terms of contending in the playoffs.

I don't think they will contend in the playoffs even with Vick. They are not to that level yet.

I guess I am still somewhat skeptical. If Vick is out, you can put 8 and 9 in the box and not worry about him beating you to the outside. I am probably wrong, but the dimension he adds of just scaring people is enough to make your run game open up.

They do have two capable backs however, so we shall see.

Just be ready for ROY *Rookie Of the Year* Williams to carve up the Falcons secondary Sunday baby.

I could see them winning an opening round game. I don't think they are ready to go into Philly or anything but beyond them or maybe Seattle there's not much difference between them.

With Matt Schaub as a backup the Falcons will obviously miss Vick if he goes out, but they'll still get solid play from the quarterback position.
