Actually, no clue. According to the "Manage Label" menu:

Free to spend: $6

And that's what's left of the $21 I put in there originally.

Actually, it looks like it goes back to my band, near as I can tell. What I wouldn't give for a bit better FAQ and rules. Anyone know how much single and album sales bring in so that I know how much to give back when re-upp'ing bands?

My labels money system seems to be working as I now have about $500 in the label account after a someone sold a single.

How do I do re-presses of a single?

Had no idea how it'd go so I only put out 100 copies of my single, trying to figure out how to mass produce the suckers now.

Happy though, finally started raking in some cash, made about 6.5k this last month.

EDIT: Cancel that, found it..don't know how I missed it the first look through.

Looking at the earnings of my single, it appears that each single brings in $2, but that the label doesn't get any money until the band's cost is covered.

Last month I sold out my intial pressing of 3000 copies, I have 4 fields for earnings:
Label Cost - $0
Band Cost - $6100
Label Gross - $0
Band Gross - $6000

So this month, the label should start seeing some income as mine and the other singles start to cover the band cost.

How do you repress singles or albums?

How do you resign bands after their contracts are expired?

Go to "Band Details"
Go down to your "Band Discography"
Then click on your single, and you'll be able to order on the next screen.

As for the second question, I don't have a clue.

I'm thinking your stuck with that label until you apply to another. Which kinda sucks because then you can't do independent releases.

If it lets you, you could create your own label and then transfer whatever funds back to your band.

So, whenever you guys reup with FOFC Live! just tell me what you guys have in your "Label Gross" columns. I'll double check the math (since I can't see who sends the cash to the label) and send it in your new contract.

Don't you also have an option when you offer a contract that states how much money you'll spend on promotion? Maybe instead of just funnelling it all back to us, we can pool our funds and have the label spend on promotion? Just a thought.

Here is all the owner of the label sees when he offers a contract:

Offer Recording Contract
Step 3 of 3: Set Contract Details
Band Name:The Cornelius Machine
# of Singles Allowed:
# of Albums Allowed:
Budget Provided by Label for Each Recording ($):

Yeah, unfortunately, that isn't an option.

Well, it would have been a cool idea.

If all you can do with the money is help out with the production costs, the whole contract is just plain silly. The band has to pay back all production costs to the label before it sees any profits, of which the band will only keep 80%. So all the label is really doing is fronting the band the money.

From what I can tell, the purpose of labels is to see which label can make the most money and to help fledgling bands get a single out. However, it has been shown that with a little touring, an independant release isn't hard to acheive. If that's the case, I'm not going to keep track of how much I've paid to the label, you can just keep it and use it either for prestige or for new bands.

I think I just don't get this part of the game.

The game is fun, but it has a long way to go before it comes close to approximating reality.

Not at all. And I would say one problem is that a lot of the regular players don't seem too interested in seeing the game become more realistic (based upon what i've read and written in the forums over htere).

I like seeing a Russian name for the band leader. Makes me think I created a mafia member who is running things

As for money to the band, it's not much but it's a start

Record Label Name: FOFC Live!
Funds: Free to spend: $57
Tied up in record contracts: $14
Transfer Funds

I wish there was a way for label leaders to see which albums brought in which funds.

My label got money as soon as the first band released a single last month, we went to $500, now with two more releases we're at $1,500. Seems something is screwy. Who's our accountant anyways?

Not sure, personally. Did you abuse them in practice? I did this past month and my bands went from 95-100 to 75-80. But if you did 11 days of rest, that leaves a lot less days of practice than I did to them.

Watery Hands have got another single dropping this month. We should be ready to drop a full length of entirely new material in 2-3 months.
