It would be interesting to know if they had (or didn't have) remarkable histories with authority, fidelity & relationships, whether they continued/abandoned schooling at an abnormal rate and/or what level of general 'success' they attained.

California psychologist arrested for having sex with student

“Mental health professionals wield a tremendous amount of influence over their patients,” Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer said in the statement.

“This betrayal of trust is even more egregious because she used her position to gain her victim’s trust and then exploited the therapist/patient relationship to prey on one of the very students she was entrusted with helping,” Spitzer added.

Boyle faces a maximum of three years if convicted.

You know, as many of these that keep popping up, I have to believe that the number of men doing this is at least 5-10 times more prevalent. I heard rumors, here and there, and then my wife filled me in on her experience and how teachers went about doing it at her school. It's pretty disturbing, all in all. This Psy, is far lower than your typical teacher imo. She's not only going to jail, possibly, but her career is completely effed. There's no chance to come back from that one.

5-10 is pretty high (I hope) but wonder why the male teacher stories don't seem to be reported as much. I wouldn't be surprised if at the college level its higher also. Not illegal since they would be older than 18 but still a breach of trust and/or university rules.

Yikes. One of these has hit close to home. Middle school teacher charged with sexual relationship with a student. The woman involved has been to our home at least twice that I can recall, maybe more. One of her sons was in my oldest daughter's kindergarten and first grade classes, and her husband used to work for the organization my wife heads. They have six children, ranging in ages from 4ish-16ish. Their mother's face has been plastered all over social media in the last hour since the story broke. At least four of them are old enough to understand what she is being accused of. I can't imagine what they're going through now, and what they'll go through when they return to school.

I don't know her husband well, but have had a handful of conversations with him and he seems like a genuinely good guy who doesn't deserve this. Ugh.
