I really considered just punching a hole in the bottle since it's plastic but I'd have had to drink the whole thing tonight and I don't want to do that.

Yes, it tastes good. It's one of the best tasting cheap whiskeys and I paid a little more for it. It's no Knob Creek but it's more than just drinkable.

Try this method used on old wine bottles where the cork can't be easily removed:

1. Use port tongs, if you have them or anything that will fit around the neck well.
2. Heat the tongs in a fire, until they are red hot.
3. Clamp them onto the neck for a few minutes.
4. Then use a cloth or feather that has been soaked in ice water to gently brush the side of the bottle about 2/3 of the way down the cork and crack off the neck.

Nevermind, I see it was a plastic bottle.

I really don't drink wine ( except Sangria ) so this wouldn't help me but damned if I didn't have a corkscrew on the can opener. I've just dug the cork out with a knife as well and I've even managed to just push it in the bottle.

Now, my favorite beer is Three Philosophers but I've never once had a problem removing it's cork.

Yeah, its funny. When I was younger I moved away from alcohol because I only had two states with it. Sober and too drunk. I couldn't easily find a middle ground and it pretty much sucked.

With beer, I could really manage my drunk and that worked a lot better. The thing is, beer is really hurting my stomach lately and after one or two, I've gotten ill a few times and that's not fun either.

Now though, I can deal with alcohol a lot better and I feel the buzz earlier and can regulate my intake and it doesn't upset the stomach. It's all good in the end.

Damn straight. Today I was at Applebees and I didn't know what to choose to drink since they have Pepsi products and I'm not a big fan. I didn't want a real drink so I looked at their frozen drink menu and found a Strawberry Mango Swirl.

Now, I like a fruit smoothie as much as the next guy and this one didn't disappoint. I mean, I really didn't taste any alcohol or get a buzz or anything but as an overpriced Smoothie, I'd order it again. I enjoyed it.

I've been in N'Awlins for their Fat Tuesday Carnival and had a blast. The restaurant, not so much but it's a decent place to get plastered. I am kinda curious about someone who can't handle it, assuming they meant the restaurant.

Cartman, me and Molly ( my wife) were in vegas recently and there is a Fat Tuesdays's stand in the mall at Planet Hollywood, one day I drank alot there while we were playing blackjack and having an all around good time.

Here is the trip report if you are bored

I was wondering if you were referring to the myth about mixing alcohols or if it was just a bad choice taste wise. I don't like scotch and have very limited experience with it so I can't say how foul this would be taste wise except for saying that scotch is already foul.

I'm convinced the "mixing alcohols" deal is bullshit. I think it's just rationalizing either drinking on an empty(ish) stomach, or just drinking too much.

btw..I'm buzzed off of whiskey...I know I'm at least half-drunk because I am drinking my roomate's mountain dew as a chaser. What a vile drink Mountain Dew is.

The trick to no hangover is plenty of water post-alcohol. Advil doesn't hurt, but re-hydrating after drinking is the key.

Tonight was a mix of Cuervo 1800, Smirnoff Vodka (blech), Budweiser, Coors Light and Newcastle. I really should have saved the Newcastle for more sober people who would have enjoyed it, but it looked so good.

The fact that I can type up board mark-up tags without errors tells me that I didn't drink enough.

I think he was more commenting on the mixing of the two in one drink, which would be a vile waste of decent scotch.

But no, I was not so very vile, I used the berry stuff with sprite for a fruity fizzy drink and did shots of Glenlivet in between.

I have to remember to drink some water before bed though. woke up feeling miserable first thing this morning, not so bad now.

actually, that doesn't sound like that much, so either i miscounted or i'm more of a lightweight than i thought.

Man I got tore up last night. We were all just hanging out at the house. And we went through....two fifths of Jameson. One of my roomates had to work at 8:00 am today, and she stayed up later than I did. What a dumbass.

As I was telling Lathum the other day, I've discovered an interesting liquor that I'm still trying to figure out. It is Patron XO, a coffee liqueur made from Patron Tequila. It is some good stuff.

I saw that not too long ago. Sadly, anything Patron (outside of a shot) is out of my price range...

This is actually a lot cheaper than the Patron tequilas, which usually start at $40 and go up from there. I picked up a bottle of the Patron XO for $20.

Just found this....Benjamin Australian Tawny Port

I will be trying this out here in a bit and seeing how it is...the ratings of WS 91 and WE 88 shocked me as they tend to favor the 10 to 20 year aged ports.

Oh, and I have my nice bottle of Pyrat Rum to finish off tonight too...

Speaking of Rums, anyone try a Dominican Rum called Barcelo(sp?) I think...I saw it today and I am just getting into rums, so I am not to sure on it..

Drinking homebrew tonight. This is from my first-ever batch of homebrew, which was tasty but shortly after brewing it, I started working out more intensely and stopped drinking as much beer. I didn't think this batch was nearly as good as subsequent batches, so it's been kind of hidden in the fridge.

BUT since I'm going to be moving into my new house soon, and I don't want to have to move bottles of beer, and tomorrow is the first day since the 11th that I don't have to be up at 6 a.m., I'm taking the opportunity to drink a bit.

I suppose I could consider it celebratory, on the house and the successful launch and, well, not having to get up at 6 a.m. tomorrow (though I will be going in for the afternoon). Drinking + alternately watching season 2 of "The Office" and playing Fable Pub Games on 360. SOOOO glad I don't have to get up at 6 tomorrow (though I did today, and I suppose I could also say I'm getting my body used to doing 6 a.m. until midnight or so, since that's what I'll be doing Monday and Tuesday, it looks like...)

Cheers!
