Peavy going tonight, pitching against a team he's not very good against and a ballpark where he has his worst career ERA.

Bochy will be going to the pen early and often tonight to get 27 outs as he is known to do in must win games.

So I'm watching the espn game cast on this. Not my first time using it, but I've got to ask if the umpire is as inconsistent as the app is showing?

I'm talking balls dead center of the plate "belt" high, and called balls. I was thinking to complain about it when Peavy was pitching to Hosmer in the first, but it looks just as bad during the Giant at bats.

So consistently bad ump? Or consistently bad illustration by espn gamecast?

I'm going to go with illustration Glengoyne. Live on TV the strike zone doesn't seem too bad. Maybe even a little wide.

Really hoping they can keep up with the weak hits to score runs plan. It's helping tremendously that these hits are super solid and well struck.

I'm in downtown SF tonight. Kinda glad I didn't go to a bar to watch. I might have gotten punched for not looking sad enough.

The giant's radio PBM guy was just saying that Ventura was frustrated because the umpire won't call the belt high strike. He said you have to bring it down to the knees. I'm guessing this is just the umpire's strike zone. He must love him some offense.

Will be interesting to see if Yost brings in any of the big three for some work or decides to rest them. May see a combo of Frasor/Duffy to close this one out.

I've thought it's been pretty inconsistent tonight. I'm curious to see Brooks Baseball's thorough map about it tomorrow

Well, since I posted about how it looks ok it's been much worse

It's funny, because Mike Krukow (the Giants' color guy) was talking pre-game about how he's a pitcher friendly ump and that his zone has a tendency to be a little large. This game his consistency has been calling low strikes, but not high strikes...but he hasn't been all THAT consistent, so even that's hard to generalize.

Yeah, I'm not wanting to complain about the ump the way this game is going but it's just been really inconsistent looking. Here's the quick map from Brooks (i.e. quick calculation and hasn't been adjusted)- the right to left is pretty "meh"

At first I was wondering if Joe Buck is Madison Bumgarner's agent, but then relized that after this entire post-season he's still mis-pronouncing his name.

At least this one doesn't feel like 2002. After the Angels and the Rally Monkey came back late in that game you just knew how Game 7 would go. This one has been over since the 2nd inning so no heart wrenching gut punch other than to say that's baseball and we'll try again tomorrow.

Well, that went terribly. Giants cannot cannot go down early tomorrow night. Game 7 on the road, you need to jump on them quickly a la Red Sox vs. Yankees in 04. Should be a doozy.

Bret Saberhagen throwing out the first pitch for Game 7. Might as well just leave him on the mound and see if he can win another Game 7.

How bad is Timmy if the Giants waste half their bullpen in a game where they were down 7-0 by the 3rd inning. Using up the guys you may need tonight with a starter in the pen is quite silly.

If the Giants can take one thing away from last night's game, it's that in this series, absolutely zero momentum is carried over from one game to the next. It's almost as if every game exists in it's own little vacuum.

I will also say again, that Bochy deciding to not start Bumgarner in games 4 and 7 was the biggest blunder of the Playoffs.
