Wow, they replaced the wrestling rejects of the 90's with the wrestling rejects of the 80's.

Did they basically overhaul the entire TNA roster in one night? Seems like they've brought out at least a dozen new wrestlers already.

It's basically Hogan's recent overseas tour roster, minus a few guys.

This is ridiculous. I am trying to watch the bowl game and I cant DVR both TNA and Raw so I chose RAW.

TNA picks an interesting night to compete.

Of course from the sounds of your comments I wont miss a lot from the new look TNA.

I think that's it. And they really had two choices: have Shawn go mega-heel, or try to smooth it over like they did. Save the heel heat for Vince, while letting Shawn walk away from the whole thing as the good guy.

(Or, you know, set up a swerve later in the show.)

It's mildly amusing to see which WWE reject shows up next but other than that ... the women's tag match was tolerable (I didn't see the opener) but otherwise it's very Nitroesque.

i just thought it was a pretty unconvincing take at smoothing it over...i dunno. my expectations are probably too high.

or there'll be a nice predictable "ref bump" here and bret will come out as the guest referee to quick-count

Of course then we have to ask ourselves whether it was unconvincing or intentionally unconvincing, just in case anyone thought they were really reconciled.

Maybe, but if your goal is to keep both guys as faces, is there really anything else you could have done?

You don't read the spoilers ahead of time, do you?

(This was revealed earlier in the day)

So is the Main Event Mafia still going strong or not? I seen a bit earlier from Nash/Hall/ and XPac talking to Hulk.

I was thinking Nash was in the ME Mafia last time I watched.

lol nope. i haven't read spoilers (nor watched a minute of wrestling) in...YEARS. Probably sometime right before the Hogan-Goldberg match in WCW. So in that sense this has been a successful night...they got a very casual viewer to tune back in

Loudest sound I've ever heard in my life was in the Dome that night. And up in the nosebleed section where I was sitting, the floor didn't just vibrate, it shook (to the point I was a little concerned about my immediate safety).

Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Brutus The Barber Beefcake. The newest tag team in TNA.

That is, speculation of who the assaulters are. It ain't real. I hope.

One of the key lines about the WWE just got said by Cole.

"Some things never change", about DX retaining the tag team titles. So true...

I hate the WWE.

What's the deal with The Rock? Somehow when he gave up wrestling I don't imagine it was for starring roles in movies like "Tooth Fairy."

Is there something more there that just hasn't come out? Steroids or a chronic injury or something? I feel like there almost has to be. I mean the guy went out at the absolute TOP. If it was just a personal choice by him...I have a lot of respect for him for doing that.

My son truly has a devious wrestling mind.

He just asked me whether both shows were live or taped tonight. He was disappointed that they were both live because he thought the perfect finish for Impact would be for either Bret Hart or Chris Jericho to show up.

Considering he's not old enough to remember either guy & their promotion switch as anything other than a history lesson, I'm awfully proud right now

He's a 3rd generation wrestler. He knows what kind of toll the business does to you over time and certainly with all of the deaths as of late. He got out while he could so he'll be in vastly better health in his later years. I can't imagine the pay difference, if any at all, would be enough to get him to come back. He has kids. Might as well kick back and kick out family friendly movies instead of the endless touring and punishing of his body he would be doing wrestling. Hogan was doing family based stuff as well, but he fully admits he's addicted to the business and hence he's back.

yeah...i mean i'm sure that's the reason - it was the reason i've always thought, and frankly it's pretty damn intelligent and i have a shit-ton of respect and admiration for the guy for making that choice. it shows a lot of strength of character.

i just saw an ad for "Tooth Fairy" and was like "haha - damn...it's The Rock" and it got my cynical-side wondering.

Smart crowd for the taping tonight in Orlando, chanting "Who Needs Bret" during the Angle-Styles match.

Vince tried to get Rock to come back and be the guest host next week and was refused. He has pretty much tried to stay as far away from the business as possible which I understand if his acting career had taken off but he has pretty much been in a bunch of low profile movies since he left.

I dunno, the horrible looking Fairy will put him over the $1B US gross mark in 9 years, and get him close to $2B global.

it's a shame too...Rock would be great as a guest host...he was ALWAYS amazing on the stick. People's Champ/Corporate Champ/Nation/Insulting Rock, there was never a persona he brought out that didn't just...work. Shit, I'll go so far as to say that aside from some of the classic-Flair stuff I have on VHS from the 80's that Rock was the best I've ever seen on the stick.

I'm pretty sure Rock's been well taken care of by Disney.

The Gameplan grossed $140M worldwide, and Race To Witch Mountain grossed $106M worldwide.

Wonderful old-school match on TNA tonight - Styles defeats Angle in a 30 minute spotfest.

For the first time in a long time, I didn't know who would win nor how they would win.

Didnt even realize he had been doing that well. His worldwide numbers arent much worse than Will Ferrell surprisingly. Interesting link.
