So I was always a charmin ultra soft user and one day my wife bought ultra strong. To this day I don't let her forget. Nothing ultra strong should be going near that area. Horrible toilet paper. But then we bought a home on septic and had to ditch Charmin for angel soft. And yeah our work toilet paper is awful. Definitely a prime example of the government going lowest bidder. |

Several folks in here complained about specific annoying adverts, but I am also suspicious (but not necessarily surprised) at how quickly market forces agreed we should be covering our entire bodies in various deoderants.

The first year we moved into this house we had our septic system inspected and the guy specifically asked if we used Charmin after the inspection. He said it has higher cotton content than other toilet papers and doesn't break down as well. So you're looking at getting your septic pumped more often if you use it. So it's not that it's not allowed. Just not recommended by the guys that do the pumping. |

Charming ultra strong for me.

We use Scott. I prefer the harder stuff that doesn't fall apart. I can't use the soft stuff. It just disintegrates.

Can someone explain the T-Mobile commercial with the 2 guys shake-weighting/jerking off together, complete with weird-ass noises? I have no effing clue what they are supposed to be doing or why I'm supposed to be amused.

If a business has double doors and one is locked it’s at least 96% I’ll try the locked one first.

I think they're two guys from Suits. I could give a shit about Suits, other than Meghan Markle was pretty hot circa Suits. Which is to say about zero. (I guess it's really popular on streaming for whatever reason. I guess this translates to mobile service somehow.)

With the double doors, this gets me often, usually with my wife. And it probably IS my fault, because I don't just grab the door on the right with my right hand when I'm entering, which is what the establishment assumes most people are going to do. But for whatever reason, we are usually either approaching from the right and my wife is behind me, or my wife is to my right. So the natural thing (I think) would be to open the door to my left with my left hand, so I don't have to cross in front of her or otherwise get in her way to get in the building (essentially, the door opens away from her rather than into her). But the restaurant/store doesn't see it this way, I guess.

Finally got around to trying the new Dreamsicle Frosty from Wendy's.
Verdict? It's good, but it's actually NOT Dreamsicle in my opinion. It's actually Orange Push-Up. Good, but a slight difference in flavor. There's also a slight aftertaste of some sort. Not awful, but present. Which is kind of sad in a way, cause while this is fine, Wendy's didn't make an ice cream treat thing come as close to the target as most energy drinks (which have mastered the Dreamsicle flavor across multiple brands)

My grandad was the worst with those kind of scams (RIP)...not because he would fall for them, but because he thought he could bring down some kind of justice on them. It was like those youTube scambuster channels, except he was 90, with a rotary phone and zero grasp of how the internet works.

Hmm ... kinda? This is really spot on Push-Up to me (especially on the front end, before any aftertaste hits) and I never thought that was precisely an F.O.

Isn't it weird that we can talk? That we can move the flesh in our mouth and manipulate the air that passes through it in such precise ways as to express detailed thoughts and emotions that others humans (and dogs) can immediately understand?

There was a silent auction last night put on by the Chad Tough foundation in honor of Chad Carr, the grandson of former UofM coach Lloyd Carr. Chad passed away from the same type of brain cancer that took my nephew’s life. My nephew’s foundation, along with many others, have joined up with Chad Tough over the years. As you can imagine, given the connection to Lloyd Carr, the foundation has deep ties to a large number of sports organizations both college and pro.
I ended up winning two tickets to the Chris Spielamn family suite for a Lions game and to hang out with Chris Spielamn before the game and sideline passes!

USPS or their tracking is so weird. I have a package that went from Greensboro, NC to Greenville, SC, so I thought I might get it early. Nope, it then went to Charlotte, NC, then to Spartanburg, SC, where it then went to Greenville to get delivered a day late. Why?
I actually looked farther back, it started in Atlanta and went to Champagne, IL before coming to Greensboro. It literally started 2.5 hours from my house but traveled god knows how far. Last edited by Ghost Econ : 05-14-2024 at 11:29 AM. |

This is surely a bit of trivia I knew at some point in my past and have long forgetten - even when he died - but I just learned (again) that Jani Lane's real name was John Kennedy Oswald, and he was born a few months after JFK's assassination. Apparently his middle name was changed to Patrick at some point (I don't know if it was early on, or he did it himself because of the absurdity of the name, especially in proximity to his birth).
Anyway, that's today's edition of, "Learning things you probably once knew but are too old to remember you knew."

one time, when i was probably 10 or 15 years old, i randomly started idly musing about football scores...and for some reason decided then and there that i just did not like the score 20-10
still bugs me, for no reason, when i see it, literally in any context... like, there was never anything rational about it, whatever led me there is long since forgotten, but i just have a mental muscle memory that i hate 20-10 and that's enough for a tiny bit of recoil any time i see it i am a deeply rational person, not at all superstitious or prone to anything of that sort... this is a personal anomaly born of... nothing, really |

I bet it is because the winning team's score is 2/3rds of the total points scored.

No. The smarminess. Like they think you should feel honored to be ordering from them and if you don't use the correct verbiage they correct you or give you side eye. I don't care if it is vente, grande, etc...just give me a fucking medium coffee or whatever your version of that would be. |

I have order a lot of medium coffees from Starbucks - I almost always get straight-up coffee there - and can't recall ever being corrected or being given the side-eye. And I slip pretty casually between grande/medium and vente/large depending on the day. Could be my natural Charisma, or "riz" as the kids say, that puts them at ease?
