I'd think not. I mean, why would you want some guy winning who literally works for a would-be competitor? I thought they went over the top quite a ways in their press release honestly, since you know they pretty much have to be hoping he chokes to death asap.

The Joey Chestnut news is probably the least important "breaking news" item I've ever received as a push notification. And that includes anything royalty-related. I can't think of a piece of news that matters much less. I actually laughed when I saw it pop up on my phone yesterday.

What?!? This is like Michael Jordan being banned from the NBA Finals. Wayne Gretzky being banned from the Stanley Cup finals. Patrick Mahomes or Tom Brady being banned right before the Super Bowl. But more so! On the one hand, the rule - that he can't participate in the marquee Major League Eating event because he's repping a different brand - is ridiculous. On the other hand, he knew the rule and quite brazenly broke it! If Joey Chestnut bigger than Major League Eating? Or can the League survive without their biggest star? This. Is. Huge.

To paraphrase one of the immortal FOFC quotes, this is going to revolutionize the way I don't watch The July 4th Hot Dog Eating Contest and MLE in general.

I was at an oyster fest once, and they happened to have a MLE (or whatever it was called back then--it was a while ago) oyster eating event there. They were all professionals, but you could put your name in the hat and try and get one of the two amateur spots. And I really really wanted that. Not because I wanted to try and keep up. But because it would have been awesome to have all I could eat oysters for 8 minutes. I'd smuggle up my own bottle of Tabasco--and they'd say I was disqualified, and I wouldn't care and keep eating.

Plant based hot dogs? Are the disgusting parts of plants that we can speculate are in plant based hot dogs in the way we could with a regular hot dog? Is there such a thing as a dirty water plant based hot dog?
Nothing against plant based foods but one of the joys of eating a hot dog was always the fleeting idea that it might just have something in it that you did not want to know about.

Yeah, come to think of it, what are the plant-based equivalents to chicken lips and assholes?

I guess I'm wondering why Nathan's wasn't paying him. Since I'm not in New York, I only know of Nathan's through the hot dog eating contest.

I just mean I've never heard the brand uttered outside the event. It's probably available here but Oscar-Meyer and a few others have the market cornered at the store it seems. Guess what I'm saying is that hot dog eating contest might be how a lot of people know about the brand. |

Took my kids and their friends to the boardwalk/arcade yesterday. Like most lots they have a pay station where you put in your spot number then pay to park. Come back and their is a ticket on my car! They wrote the ticket at literally the same exact time I paid for the parking, which was 2 minutes after I parked. The kicker is the machine was out of paper so i don't have a receipt and my bank statement only shows the date of the transaction, not the time.

So pages back we talked about the McDonalds app and I have to reiterate it's probably the best of the fast food apps as far as getting deals. Chickfila is decent in achieving rewards, but using the McDonalds app last night I got a 10 piece nugget, large fry and large drink for $4.24 after tax.
I just wish I didn't have to keep using apps to get deals. Either I just leave them on my phone or just shuffle them on and off. |

If you have the Arby's app, the deal for this week is 5 roast beefs for $5

Is blue cheese salad dressing the same stuff they give you with wings? Going to be making some wings in an air fryer for the first time and that's all I can find at the store.

I'm a fairly big believer in "trust your instincts", and rarely have I ever had things turn out good when I don't folllow 'em ... yet here I am at the moment still trying to move something down a particular path while my head & gut both keep saying "you already got your sign on this, what more do you need, a ton of bricks on your head too?"
I don't even know WTF I'm thinking ... okay, that's not true. I'm continuing because I'm not sure any better option actually exists either. I fucking hate this kinda shit.

Speaking of fast food, does anyone feel like the Wendy's spicy chicken has fallen off a little bit? Had one the other day and it just didn't hit like it used to. Maybe it's always been like that and we just have so many places making good chicken sandwiches that they don't seem as good.

Love the 5 for $5. But don’t think they were the reg roast beef sandwich but a scaled down version. But with horsey sauce & curly fries, good stuff

Nah, regular roast beef these days are pretty small. It's the McD's single cheeseburger size for Arbys.

Tried to do that 5/5 deal ... "technical difficulties, try later" online message, which seems pretty common.
Arbys has probably the least functional app & website when it comes to ordering. Anything requiring it is no better than a bait & switch since they rarely work when a promotion is underway.

Pamela finally accepting responsibility after 33 years is a good thing. Think she is trying to plea for clemency to the Gov. Article said her male accomplices had finished serving their time around 2015.
But seeing the old clips made me feel old. Her/his hairdo and her dress ... those were the 80's. Quote:

Those Arby’s cheeseburgers are really freaking good. Strongly suggest checking them out. I make really good sous vide burgers at home, and these are every bit as good.

Saw a thread on Reddit where Europeans complain about how Americans are dependent on cars. I decided to look up how I can get to the nearest grocery store.
There's a Harris Teeter a little over a mile from my house. 4 minutes by car 20 minutes if I walk 26 minutes if I take the bus The bus requires me to walk 6 minutes to the nearest stop, then ride the bus for 6 minutes, then walk 14 minutes to the store. If I stayed on buses and just switched, buses until I get closer, it would take a little over an hour and I'd still have to walk 10 minutes total. "To Die For" is one of those movies that I have to watch it if I come across it. Speaking of old movies, my wife an I just watched the documentary "Brat Pack" and it made us want to watch some of those teen movies from our youth. We watched "Sixteen Candles" and "Weird Science" last night. They are still funny, but in a way that would get everybody involved cancelled today. |
