Twix has always been #1 for me. I also like Heath Bar. But if I'm going to gorge on candy bars, I am definitely not picky.

It is October 12th, and some motherfucker in our neighborhood decided tonight was the night to fire off the remainder of their fireworks.

Has anybody made a short documentary, created a podcast or wrote an article explaining how corporations have convinced the American public to hate human cashiers so much that the same public is willing to do the cashier's job for these corporations for free? One or two items I get it. But 30-40 items? No way, I'll suffer through whatever small talk comes with Louise scanning and bagging those items.

I would so much rather check out my own stuff than deal with waiting for a cashier. What I don't understand is how the tech doesn't exist to just roll the whole cart through a scanner and have it all added up at once.

Also, I was at Walmart earlier today and they have people clenching your receipts on the way out. I'm like, nope, not gonna do your job then have you make sure I did it correctly.

I know they have tried that a couple of places. The expense is too high yet for it to be common.

I think potentially RFID could be the solution, but you need to be able to pick up the tag even if it covered with something else with near 100% accuracy. That seems like one of the big hurdles.

I like Sam’s club where I can just scan it as I can put it in the cart. Wal Mart does offer this but you have to be a Walmart+ member and you have to still pay at a kiosk.

I feel like it's been a long social experiment where they hired less cashiers for like 20 years to the point a lot of people are fine with it because they just want to get out quickly. I'd prefer a cashier but I also do self-checkout because I don't want to have to wait 15 minutes to checkout my 7 items.

I have four days of four-and-a-half hour trainings on Agile methodologies and I am a third of the way in, and already willing to murder someone if it will get me out of the rest.

I've cut down on sugar, pretty much just buying zero/diet soda. I'm now trying to cut down caffeine.

Dr. Pepper Zero Strawberries & Creme was pretty good but soda of choice now is Diet A&W root beer.

Anyone else has a favorite non-sugar, non-caffeine soda?

I don't pay attention to which have caffeine or not. Is Sprite non-caffeine? Sprite Chill has been one of my favorites this summer. I hope they make it a permanent flavor, not just summer edition, because I can't go back to just the regular Sprite anymore.

It may be going away, as it's supposed to be just a limited edition for summer. I posted about it earlier this year here. It's cherry limeade-flavored with some sort of mint extract that makes it feel cool in your mouth even after it's been out of the refrigerator for a while. You don't taste the mint, but it does have a mint-like coolness to it even when it's not as cold. It's great, IMO.

We've had difficulty getting the Zero version here. My daughter found a bunch a couple of months ago in a Kroger up near NKY/Cincy where she lives and she bought like 8 of them and gave us 3. My stock is running out.

Tried the zero version. Could definitely taste the cherry lime in the first couple hits but after that, I really didn't taste it anymore. May just be my taste buds.

Might have been the mint/frosty sensation overtaking the flavor. The concept is that the mint was added so that it feels like it is staying "cold" during the summer even if it's not ice cold right out of the fridge.

Late to the party here. A couple of years back, I had the whole team management, developers and analysts setup for a week of Agile training. One of my top developers just put in for retirement when I reached out to him about attending.

I did Scrum training years ago and it was pretty good. There were a whole bunch of guys there from Fidelity who were recently hired or recently moved into the development group (Fidelity had been using Scrum for years at this point) and I was pretty impressed by their real world examples. And the Fidelity site & app remains pretty good (I'm a customer).

I’m not sure what gaming trend I like less:

Making the consumer pay more to get a game on its actual release date rather than on Friday.

Or

Charging money for a season pass and then releasing DLC that isn’t included with the season pass.

Not exactly sure where this goes, but I just read that Matthew Sweet had a debilitating stroke in Toronto this past week at the beginning of a tour. So sad. There's a fundraiser to help with medical expenses. Girlfriend is just behind the 2 Jellyfish albums as the best power pop album of the 90s and is still a top 5 or 10 power pop album even outside the 90s.

A Chipotle opened in my town about 5 or 6 months ago. Since we're a small suburb of Lexington, we don't have a ton of newer chain restaurants. It's mostly BK, McD, Wendys, Arbys, Taco Bell, etc. So I want to support a new place that didn't have its heyday in the 70s. I haven't eaten at one of those fast food places since some point in 2023, at least (and I've never gone to the BK that's been open for at least a decade).

That said, the wife and I went to Chipotle for dinner and ordered 2 bowls with guac, a side of chips and salsa, and 2 drinks. $35 and change. WTF? Mexican is typically pretty cheap! I can go to Chuys in Lexington and eat a full meal with multiple free baskets of chips for about the same price, including tip. Or, I could go to one of the local Mexican places and pay even less.

That's insane. It was good, but at that price, they should just rename the place Mexican Panera.

I'm told gas station mexican restaurants are pretty inexpensive.
