Remembering my "brother" Will yesterday. I posted a number of things I remember him saying yesterday.

I started goofing around and flexing all the time at work in Chicago when I was lifting like crazy and seeing some results. Mind you, I knew I wasn't built like a truck but it definitely was an improvement. Will's response one day to me flexing? "Poli, those are nice pop guns."

Will always told me how terrible I was at softball. I think he was kidding. One day as he was telling me how terrible I was, I reminded him I was his shortstop. His answer? "Poli, you're the shortstop because I can't find anyone better to play it." (and when he did, I was moved to second base lol)

Will introduced me to ButterBurgers and Culver's in general. Yesterday I destroyed my diet and had a butterBurger deluxe and cheese curds from Culver's in his memory. I probably had this conversation a hundred times.

"How many butter burgers you want, Poli? You know I'll take care of you."

In truth, he always took care of me. He knew money was tight since my ex and I were having problems. He never let me go without.

On our way to a softball tournament in Sheboygan, WI, we decided to stop by and watch a Brewers game. Will subsequently got drunk. On our way out of Milwaukee, we stopped and got gas. Will came out of the gas station with drinks.

"Poli, drink like a Porn Star!"

"Dude, this is Rock Star, not Porn Star."

"Whatever, just drink it!"

"Dude it's 11. We got (softball) games first thing in the morning. I'm not drinking that!"

Will, be a Native American, often joked about a pickup line, "What can brown do for you?"

Probably the best thing I remember hearing him say, one that always makes me smile, is "Poli, I've never slept with a Master Chief!"

We worked for a Master Chief...she was on the USS Cole when it was bombed. Great woman and great to work for. However, she wasn't attractive in the slightest. Will had got drunk enough at the Christmas party, however, to try and test the waters. I kept trying to talk him out of it, but he wouldn't listen. Oh, and it didn't work.

I couldn't post the last one at facebook because the Master Chief in question is a friend on there. I'm not exactly sure she realized Will was trying to put the move on her!

Mt. Lebanon man held on murder charges in abortion clinic probe

Quote:
A sweeping investigation of a "house of horrors" Philadelphia abortion clinic included the arrest of a man in Mt. Lebanon Wednesday on murder charges.
Detectives from the Allegheny County district attorney's office arrested Steven Massof, 48, at a home on Marlin Drive West in Mt. Lebanon. For the nearly five years that Mr. Massof worked at Women's Medical Society clinic, he posed as a doctor though he did not have a medical license, according to a grand jury report.

This part sadly may me giggle-

Quote:
According to the grand jury report, Mr. Massof was working in Pittsburgh as a bartender and a cook before starting work at the clinic.

Seems like a logical progression...bartender...cook...doctor

I'm frickin' sick of all the movie remakes. I wish the studios would stop this nonsense. Of course... if the lemmings keep filling up the theater, they will continue to produce them.
Quote:
Remakes are here to stay, and there’s nothing you can do about it. That seems to be the general message Warner Bros are sending out this week. The studio have unveiled a list of films that they'll be rebooting and/or remaking at some point in the near future. Warning: this list has blood-boiling potential. Their catalogue of remake-worthy films includes the likes of Lethal Weapon...

Lethal Weapon doesn't need to be remade. There is nothing to add or improve upon.

If anyone has seen Moron, they're asked to call Aurora Police at 303-627-3152.

I assume they are being deluged with calls.

Was watching a British movie the other day and a character referred to her house being "burgled". I chuckled. I wish I was a language scholar, and could explain why Americans think "burgled" sounds silly and instead use "burglarized".

My surgery was two weeks ago and I've been staying at my parents' house ever since. Even with video games, movies (including OnDemand), internet, and books, I'm bored out of my mind.

I don't know how people stay at home for longer durations. People at work are asking why I'm coming back on Monday; I just can't figure out what I'd do at home any longer.

Eh, not yet. OWN ratings (so far) are less than half of Lifetime in Prime, barely a quarter of Lifetime's total day ratings.

Speaking of Lifetime.. here's a story about a 23 year old woman who on her own, figured out that she was kidnapped by another woman from a hospital when she was just 19 days old, and reunited herself with her mother.

I figure Lifetime is on the phone right now, asking for the rights to her life story, and asking if it's ok that the main villain in the made-for-tv movie gets turned into a male who's a rapist.

Kitten home from UGA Vet after "alteration" & front declaw (no real choice when in a house w/ 2 already declawed).

Now he's fighting the cone/lampshade thing so much that his paws are bleeding, after hours vet on call says monitor him & "limit activity". Has this vet ever lived w/ a kitten? "Limit activity"? Fine, then sedate his furry butt, otherwise fughedaboudit. 2 y/o humans on meth are less active than him.

And if I have one more vet suggest "maybe lock the cat in the bathroom". WTF? This kitten will flat foot onto the f'n mantle in the living room, y'think maybe jumping on/off bathroom counters onto tile floors might be a little worse for him than the sleeper sofa here in the carpeted basement?

Last night was to be hockey practice #1. Cancelled.

My son was pretty bummed...but forgot about it a few minutes later.
Along with that, last night was the worst snow removal I've seen in Pittsburgh in a long time. It wasn't a terrible snowstorm, about 3-5" depending where you are in relation to the city. But, my streets were not even touched. The main roads and two lane highways included.
I'll never understand trucks with plows, riding people's asses in traffic, honking for them to move...all while the plow isn't even on the ground.

After all my years in Wisconsin, I can say that I've never had nor seen a snow plow do this.

Then again, the vast majority of snow plowing occurs at 2 in the morning.

You know I would, but I basically have no responsibilities or contacts. Someone is paying around $200/hr(I think, I don't see it) for me to fill a position that's not needed.

So I pass the time seeing how far I can push the people that are making money off me. I'm good at pushing buttons, yet I still haven't found the limit.

I had a job like that a few years ago, long lunches (2 hours usually) were the norm and no one even noticed. All of us ended up getting moved to different departments.

Well, at least it's Friday and a little bit past 3. So, your weekend should be starting fairly soon.

Heh, that was my last job, post-merger. We were absorbed by a company that had some 30-40 IT people - I had absolutely no reason to exist there. I finished up the project I was working on, got my people set up on the new company's network, few other minor things. This took a week-ish. Followed by me sitting there. All day. Every day. For 4 months, till they finally started to purge all of us that came over in the merger.

3-5 pints of guinness during my 2 hour lunches and 15,000 smoke breaks were what got me through the days.

Add in the fact the 4 months before this I was pulling 80-100 high pressure hours a week in. Finished that and suffered whiplash doing to this.

Someone's trying to kill me.

It appears to be real, one of a series of commercials called "The Neighbourhood" produced by Wilkinson Sword to promote their line of women's bikini razors.

Although the one you posted doesn't seem to be there at the moment, other spots in the series including "The Landing Strip" & "Tidying Up Downstairs" are on their website
