Yep. I believe it was popularized in the movie House Party, but I'd heard it in HS before that. Kid 'n Play, Robin Harris movie. There's a scene where one of them says, "5000, Pops!" on his way out the door, as I recall.

Loved me some Robin Harris. Dead way too young. Ain't that a bitch?

Is there a basic level of understanding of technology we can expect from Americans in 2025?

I know this sounds and probably is privileged but I feel like there is a basic level of technological understanding that Americans probably should have for everyday life. What constitute that basic level I don't know. I get the impression that we all have our own basic level that we expect from others but nothing is codified. Whatever it is, I don't expect a person to exist in America in 2025 with the same level of tech understanding of a person 1925. For example, have we reached a point where we expect Americans to know how to navigate a smartphone at the same level we expected Americans to navigate a touch tone phone after the switch from the rotary phone? Have we reached a point where you have to know how to navigate a computer at a basic level? I don't mean to just make life easier. I mean if you don't you can't live without that basic level of understanding.

I got some Cleveland Browns knockoff Stanleys for crazy cheap on Amazon, and now guys at work think I'm a Browns fan. Trying to decide how much I should lean into it. I really just needed cups and they were cheap.

You need to really play it up.

I suspect that there's a LOT of old jerseys and other random Browns gear you could get for cheap on Ebay to randomly wear and bring into the office.

And I never opened a pack that had the 3 most expensive Live Series cards in MLB The Show this year.

Funny how scarcity works, ain't it?

Whenever my wife wins like $10 on one of those, I always respond with something along the lines of, "Great, we're now at -$783 all-time!"

So my daughter has a boyfriend and went with him to homecoming. Whatever, I care only in the sense that he isn't an asshole to her.nim not one of those stupid, I got a gun dads.

On one of the pre-dance pics they're facing away from the camera and flexing. First, I think she could easily beat him up if he got out of line... but I'm pretty sure she can beat me up.

I didn't think that when I only had a girl, I'd still have to think of when my kid could take me in a fight.

If there's anything less reliable than fucking Instacart in this Godforsaken shithole of a town, I'd hate to see it.

Congress is more trustworthy, more efficient, more likable.

That's interesting because that is the only delivery service I have used that has been 100% reliable.

I *get* why people do it but it annoys me no end when people post photos where the image is reversed. OK you want to see a mirror image when you take a photo but if there is writing in your frame (shirt, cap, cup, sign) then reflect that sh*t before you post that pic. Most noticeable in women's dating app profiles.

Your comment immediately made me think of the gotcha in this episode of Columbo:

I may not be losing my mind. One of the Halloween candies I bought was Reeses peanut butter cups. Of course had a few and they just tasted off. Looked it up and apparently people are saying they changed the formula. Why would you ruin perfection?

I always mute it so I don’t know. I just thought it was dueling with the walking Billy Bob commercial (which I also mute and is weird in its own right).

I was just about to mention the Billy Bob commercial and his fake fucking "everyman" BS. I'd like to open a can of "Whoop Up" on whoever thought that commercial was going to sell shit.

Back when I was living in Brussels in 2002-2004, one of my ears was completely blocked. I tracked down a English-speaking doctor and made an appointment. His "office" was in an apartment building and was essentially an examination chair and some equipment in a large, empty apartment. I was concerned I was about to be murdered.

I wasn't.

He was a fine doctor. It took two sessions to clean out my ear and at that time he told me that I produce excessive ear wax and this would be a recurring problem for me. He was right, but it hasn't been that bad.

Though my daughter does call my iPods case "Dad's Ear Wax Box."

I think for something that takes some time, like a treadmill, I might tip. A quick furniture delivery or standard washer/dryer or refrigerator hook-up, I don't think so.

We've tipped for furniture delivery and set up, especially if they are polite, clean, and caring. We've tipped delivery drivers who loaded an exceptionally heavy package to the downstairs room it was going into.

Yeah, if it's quick I wasn't thinking it was necessary. If this took an hour to setup though, that's another story.

If they're installing and/or putting something together, then I've tended to tip. If they're just dropping off, then no.
