Thanks Korme, if this works I'll definitely give you a shoutout. I wish I could help you with it as I feel like I owe it to you. But thanks a lot for doing this.

When using the A-F grading scale is there any way to remove the number ratings(1-100) when looking at the training screen? It shows the current Academics scores as numbers instead of the A-F grades.

Ok, I've got it finished - big thanks to Steve Alford for taking that UCLA job today.
95% of the coaches are filled in correctly, everything from hometown to age to alma mater and W/L record. Ratings wise, everyone is default 30/30/50/50 (Rec/Sct/Off/Def) - making them level 3's. I then went randomly through and edited high profile coaches to a rating which I felt was desirable. Boo, hiss if you disagree with some of the choices - but it's not overloaded by any means. Feedback is welcomed. Also added a couple of notable assistant coaches and unemployed guys - Steve Woj, Ben Howland, Tubby Smith etc. Also also, at the very bottom of the file I added retired coaches who are in the top 20 of all-time wins. I added their age, or if they are deceased what their age would be today, and gave them all skills as "1" so they won't be desirable. Hopefully they all retire after 1 season. I did this to have career record accuracy - if you don't like it, just remove the last 15 rows or so of the file. Code:

I have found a way to get the data into a player file csv that takes about 10-15 minutes per team. Lot of cut and paste and it generates some decent players although the freshmen are often rated incorrectly and I have yet to find a site that defines the specific roles for players on a team as there are so many who can play multiple positions but the game weights the position you select from what I can tell.

On first run, the game still generates way too many good coaches.
For instance, I've got Pitino at 90-90-90-90, and his assistant coach is 100-100-100-100 |

I have noticed more than a few guys declaring for the draft and then not being drafted still. I know you looked at that earlier. Just for your notes. Last edited by muns : 03-31-2013 at 08:39 AM. |

It's really not a flaw on your end, if anything I haven't given the real life guys enough props. I have nobody at Level 15 on that file, so it's on me a little bit. Also figured I could export a post-game generated coach file with my real life coaches plus the fake ones, and edit them all down, then just use that to start a new game. |

I went through the thread, but I didn't see a mod for the current (2012-2013) conference alignments. Is there one available for download?

I think that is already available in the game by just choosing the 2012 league file.

Thanks for that info. I did some minor editing to the 2012 league file to get a few of the teams into the correct conferences for the 2012-2013 season (Memphis, Butler, VCU, etc.). On the teams.csv files, there's a column with the heading "TravelPart". Most of the values are zero, but a few have numeric values. Does anyone know what this is for? I can't find it anywhere after searching the GDS site and this thread. |

Yeah, a few conferences have (proximate) teams travel together. The most notable example in my mind is that the Ivy League has B-Y, C-C, D-H, and P-P paired up.

korme, great job with this and thank you very much. Now my only problem is I am totally incompetent when it comes to computers. Can somebody walk me through step by step how to download kormes coaches file and install it into my FBCB game? I'm not good with stuff like that. lol

Random question, Brian - do schools getting boosts from having players that get drafted? Sort of like how Kentucky has become the place for one and done players to go to.

It should go into your Documents/GDS/FBCB 2010/datafiles folder. From there, start a new game and pick "2012" as your imported coaches file (the option is on your right) |

Relatedly, I'm interested in slowing things down a little. Median teams seem to get something like 70 possessions per game when the prevailing tempo in real life is closer to 66. |

Did some tweaking (Enfield to USC) and testing a workaround to the game creating really good fictional coaches.
First, I made the most recognizable coaches better- there are 14 coaches who are level 11 or better. This seems realistic. Also improved most any coach that coaches at a power conference school to be at worst a level 5 guy. Finally, I created a new game and there were still tons of fictionally created coaches that were very good. So I exported the generated coach file, and went back to Excel. From there, anyone the game generated, I edited them to 15-15-15-15 by default. I then took 15 coaches and made them 80 in recruiting, 15 different coaches and made them 80 in scouting, and 15 more and made them 60-60 in coaching. This way, we've got some specialists out there for the top teams... As the game progresses I'm sure it will even out to a more normal looking skillset for assistants (right now it does look funny as most guys look the same) In by no means is this perfect, but it's an alternate if you want your world to be dominated by real life coaches. I'm sure the best solution is somewhere in the middle, but it's another start for now. Last edited by korme : 04-02-2013 at 01:27 AM. |

I'm guessing to lower possessions you would lower the Time modifier. I'm not completely sure though, maybe HR can advise.
I will tweak this evening and see if I can figure it out. |

I've got a question for some of you who have been at this game a bit. I accepted a job with UTEP in CUSA in 2018 (started in 2011). I downloaded the conference file linked here. Front Office Football Central - View Single Post - FBCB2 discussion: Full version now available
What I am seeing is that even though it is claiming on the conference list that I should have 16 conference games, I am only having 11. Some teams have 12, but I don't think any of them have 16. Do you know why this would happen? I have limited conference movement, and conference prestige changes. I don't think anyone has left or joined CUSA since the start, but I do see that their prestige has dropped to 3. I don't know if this has anything to do with it or not. |

For less possessions you'll actually want to increase the time modifier.

Here is a coaches file I am using. To give fair credit, I started with the file created by PFunk at Fast Break Basketball Forum • View topic - 667 Coaches. This uses values at the beginning of the 2012-13 season. I tweaked the coaching values to prevent the super coaches syndrome, and added the three new schools. This file also has assistant coaches from the bigger schools, as well as unemployed coaches.
Like I said before, PFunk deserves most of the credit, as I took his file and tweaked it to prevent super coaching syndrome. Obviously, the coaching values I used are open to opinion. I might have dumbed them down too much, but YMMV. |

Forgive my ignorance, but this is the first time I have tried to install a patch. I tried to install it in C:\Program Files\GDS\Fast Break College Basketball 2010, which is where the game is installed, but I am getting an error.
ChilkatLog: UnzipToFile: Failed to open file (2) filename: FBCB2010.exe currentWorkingDirectory: \\?\C:\Program Files\GDS\Fast Break College Basketball 2010 osErrorInfo: Access is denied. Filename: FBCB2010.exe Failed to open file. When I originally installed and tried to run, I had to do so in admin mode. Is there something similar here? EDIT: Nevermind, right click and run as admin worked. Last edited by Umbrella : 04-03-2013 at 06:11 PM. Reason: found my problem, operator error |

Ugh, I'm sure I'm being a moron, but I cannot figure out where to put all of the teams, conf, and tourney.csv files after I downloaded the patch. I found out that putting the coaches file in datafiles in the documents file works. Anyone willing to help a moron out? defaultleagues doesn't seem to work, so I can't find out where it is pointing to.

I think I found the problem. It looks like when you start a new game, it is creating new default files which override the ones I added. I just created a new folder in the defaultleagues folder with the data and that seems to work.

Am I the only who, after installing the latest patch, had the game point directly to their Documents folder instead of their GDS>Fast Break College Basketball 2010 folder? I had to move my files around to get everything to read again, which isn't a huge deal but is a bit annoying. Makes my Documents folder a bit of a mess, too...

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but just tried downloading this but when I open up FBCB it still shows v17. Edit - Nevermind, I had to switch from Program Files to the (x86) folder. Thanks. Another edit to ask - am I ok to delete all the GDS folders in my Program Files and My Documents (and leave the ones in the x86 folder)? Not a big deal to leave them, but would prefer less clutter.... Last edited by bryce : 04-04-2013 at 08:18 AM. |

In Program Files, yes. If you delete the GDS folders from My Documents, your savegames and other kinds of files that would be in My Documents will start reappearing under your (x86) folder, I think. You may run into permission issues with that.
