It always has the same pattern:
*1 stupid message*
*5 people with a response of "remove me from this list"*

And it spawns a litany of:
  • "Remove me from this list"
  • "Stop hitting reply all"
  • A manager or three who have "had enough" and "escalated things"
  • An occasional a-hole who knows what is going on and has something sarcastic to say about how this is an IT company and people should know better.
SI

And currently I am working for a large IT company you've likely heard of as well. I am seeing a trend...

I was expecting the manager wave to hit shortly after I posted, but amazingly it didn't.

Yeah, that happened here at my job (you don't work for the big E in Hopkinton, do you Jeff?) Could be worse, last time it happened, it got so bad that a representative for an Executive Vice President replied that continuing to feed the overwhelming volume of information would be treated as abuse of company systems...

Ah! Ok, yeah, we were looking at the same thread then. (was checking email in preperation for a 2-10 shift)

I thought they completely closed Southboro down? I knew they moved a bunch of folks out of there because of the leases expiring...

Oh, and if you're using Uniphi... GET OUT so I can get in *grins*. I'd love to see the faces of the guys who maintain Uniphi with the regular snowstorms.

They closed Westborough down, moved to Southboro.

I'm contracting, not a perm employee, doing the virtual desktop rollout. Was actually down in your office(I think) doing the dog and pony show for it a few months back in the caf.

With the gourmet food truck revolution in full effect - I just consumed a delicious "Mexi-terranean" fusion burrito the other day - I thought to myself: "What will become of the good old roach coach?"

Random sales tip time: The harder you work to obscure simple details (such as price), the more suspicious I become about your intentions. Same goes for trying so hard to convince me that you're "trying to help" while simultaneously refusing to answer very simple direct questions.

edit to add: Related tip -- if I call you with cash in hand to buy X, once I make it clear that I'm not interested in alternative Y or Z then your insistence on continuing down those paths puts you at risk of losing the sale of X as well.

In case anyone is wondering, I'm dealing with newspaper reps today. They're probably the worst about this stuff, although I see it to some degree with most media types.

I sure wish there was a fast way to get information. I'm tired of waiting until I read my Monday morning newspaper to find out who won all the football games on Sunday. And I HAVE to read the comics first to find out if Garfield wakes up from his nap, if Hi and Lois have gotten divorced, or if Prince Valiant's artist has gotten any better at drawing. By the time I know the score of the Broncos game, it's damn near noon Monday.

On the old Tom and Jerry cartoons, why did that fat black woman always refer to Tom as Jasper?

The characters were originally named Jasper & Jinx when they debuted in a 1940 theatrical release. To the surprise of the studio, the project became a favorite of theater owners & they had to quickly change their plans to have it be a forgettable one-off & turn it into the series that we came to know as Tom & Jerry.

So I order Papa Johns.

Somebody else's order gets delivered to me. I call, let em know, they call the driver to turn around and give me the right order. S'okay, it happens.

Here's the thing. So somebody's else's order was sitting out in my house for a good 20 minutes...and the driver takes it, saying he needs to get it to the right customer.

Good lord. They seriously are going to deliver pizza that's been sitting at a complete stranger's house?

Sent a long message to Papa John's corporate. That's...kinda unnerving.

You better hope your pizza wasn't sitting at somebody else's house too!!

That's the kind of thing that'd make me never order from them again - because everytime I did I would wonder if my pizza had a similar odyssey on its way to me...

Wasn't sure where to post this (HS recruiting thread? Nah). And wasn't sure if it deserved it's own thread. Plus recent mention of SI in this thread.

Most recent copy of SI has a great article about Alliquippa, outside of Pittsburgh-- home toMiek Ditka, Ty Law, Darelle Revis, Sean Gilbert, and Tony Dorsett, among others. The effect of the decline of of the community and resilience of the football program. Excellent read.

Over five decades of economic decline and racial conflict, - 01.31.11 - SI Vault

I Cutlered my knee a couple weeks ago helping my dad after he fell in the shower. Should have gone to the doctor but decided to gut it out. The swelling is mostly gone but the popping and pain aren't getting better. Thinking I need to bite the bullet and go see a doc.

My sentiments exactly.

I'm kinda wondering what they'll respond to me with (if anything at all). I'm betting I get a bunch of free pizza that I'll be terrified to use.

I read that as pooping not popping and thought that you really need more fiber if you are putting your knees into going.

Funny, I don't remember sending myself a spam email trying to sell Viagra, but, somehow, I sent myself a spam email trying to sell me some Viagra. Checking my Sent folder, there's nothing saying that I sent myself a spam email trying to sell me Viagra. I feel like watching Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country now.

The Undiscovered Country: One of the plots was Scotty and company, trying to figure out why it appeared that the Enterprise fired a photon torpedo at the Klingon ambassadors ship, when a visual count shows that they did not & the crew knows that they didn't, but, their weapons computer system says they did.

However, I have to agree with your question though. You would think he could just give it a magic touch...problem solved.

Haha! Star Trek 5 was not very good. It had potential though, but, felt more like when a chick is giving you a hand job and near the end, she says, "My arm is tired, you can go ahead and finish yourself".
