28 days is a long time, but early voting at this point in time makes me feel better.

Early voting is the only reason Amy McGrath won KY. She would have been trounced at the last minute by her Louisville challenger, Charles Booker, in the wake of the Breonna Taylor killing, had it been a day of election decision.

She's a lesson how not to run a campaign in Kentucky.

The evidence (or lack thereof) sure seems to be pointing to Trump making everyone around him test for covid while he wasn't getting tested. Nobody can point to when he last tested negative, cuz he wasn't getting tested at all.

My friend has taken to calling Trump the Pestilence of the United States. Well coined IMO.

There's a tipping point where the Trump supporters aren't going to turn out. His brand of being a "winner" is a big part of his appeal. You don't stick around a bully who is about to lose - you're going to try and pretend you never liked him in the first place, just like all the people that abandoned Bush after 2006.

It would be really great if that happened. I would love to see Indiana flip blue because of this reason.

I wonder if Melania even has it? Admitting that she doesn't would just show how little time they spend together. I thought it was a fishy announcement from the start.

I don't doubt that he has banged Hicks, but she's been linked to a bunch of dudes in his circle and all of them have gotten downgraded. Lewandowski, Porter, (maybe not actually) Parscale.

Looking at it from a purely political point of view, I agree that Pelosi should not agree on a deal this close to elections. Not because it will hurt Trump because I doubt he'd get that big of a bump, but because what they can say about the GOP Senate not wanting to deal, and also because of the more Dem friendly package they can pass in Jan.

But she does need to continue to "negotiate" and show as if the Dems are trying.

So what is the greater good or the lesser of 2 evils?

Dems passed two bills that the Senate won't even bring up for a vote. The Senate has done squat.

Nothing is going to pass because McConnell doesn't want it to. He knows Trump is toast and likely his Senate majority. He's not going to hand Biden a recovering economy. And he already got the money for wealthy folks and big companies that he cares about. So he'll get the new SCOTUS judge confirmed and that's it. Reports are that McConnell is the one that got in Trump's ear yesterday to tell him to pull out of talks.

There's no reason why Democrats wouldn't want a massive bill to pass to help their candidate when they take office.

If it goes blue wave this year because the Trump support just crumbles, that will help the Dems across the board for the next decade with redistricting

One thing that never gets brought up from the media side is that unemployment benefits do have time limits (I believe 6 months and then there is a possbile federal 3 month extension after that) to the point that the great majority's benefits will likely have already expired entirely before they reach any kind of agreement on 'boosting' those benefits, which soundly defeats the point.

And the House passed the first Heroes Act back in May. GOP Senate did nothing for 5 months. Pelosi was negotiating with Mnuchin until Trump backed out yesterday. Not sure how this is the Dems fault when they've already passed 2 bills and Trump backed out of negotiations.

Because the Dems are supposed to be the ones who actually want to take care of people so it's their fault if people are screwed?

Not a mistress, but I've seen speculation that it was (co)Ronna McDaniels, and that at least lines up with the WH timeline. Of course, the WH is probably lying about the timeline, so...

This whole presidency is what happens when you hand the keys to the kingdom to the spoiled, privileged sibling who has skated through life on his/her trust account their whole life. America has become what the Hilton Hotel brand would be if Paris was named CEO 10 years ago.

Trump could have bowed out during the primaries in 2016, said something along the lines of "I can do more to help make America great again by not being constrained by politics", started a news network to trash hillary's presidency 24/7, make 100s of millions, and been happier.

His presidency will go down as one of the worst things for Trump and his family. All of them have countless investigations to look forward to from here on out.

If I am doing my math right, that means that for people for whom COVID is the most important factor, Biden leads ~70-30

Which means that 30% of the people for whom COVID is the most important factor still prefer Trump.

How is that possible?

It's like 30% of the people for whom reducing immigration is the most important factor being pro-Biden.

I interpret that to mean opening the country and moving past Covid is what they mean by most important to them. Not that his response to something they think is serious has been good, but that his anti-mask, live with it approach is the correct answer to Covid.

I guess the game theory reason (assuming the reports of low money are true) is that if he's lost those states, he's probably lost the entire Midwest and the election.

So if you think in terms of Worlds In Which Trump Wins, you have to start with the assumption that he's got Ohio and Iowa in the bag. Then you think that, OK, the swing states in that assumed world are Pennsylvania, Florida, North Carolina, Arizona.
