Coastal plays at home against Wyoming tonight at 7:30 in Game 1 of the CBI final-game is on ESPN U. Games 2 (and 3) will be in Wyoming. Both teams have terrible records on the road, so I suspect it will go 3 games. Coastal did play a couple games in Utah this season, so they do have some experience playing that far from home.

It's nice to see that winning took the public perception of Frank Martin from surly prick who hits his players and gets suspended for the things he says at them to parental advisor to the masses.

To be fair, he was nice to a kid asking a question in a press conference and he beat Duke. I think doing both cures you of all prior ills in society's eyes

Coastal takes Game 1 of the CBI finals, 91-81. Neither team was that impressive on defense. I suspect Coastal will find the elevation change for Game 2 not to their liking, and struggle to bring home the title. Coastal may also have a significant injury to one of their starters to deal with as well.

Congrats on the win. I didn't expect they'd play well and they couldn't get it right, but...in the drivers seat for the title now. Wyoming can't lose at home, not that they do much...but the turnaround might be interesting for both teams.

Well it started out ok for Coastal Carolina. Down 6 at the half, but then they just fell apart and lost 81-57. So which Coastal team will show up for them on Friday. Oh and that injury to one of their starters turned out to be pretty severe-torn ligaments. And he's a senior so his career is over.

Sadly the third game didn't turn out any better for Coastal. They lose 83-59. Congrats to Wyoming. That's some nice home field advantage you have there. All in all can't complain about their first season in the Sun Belt. Certainly did a little better than I expected and to get to the finals of one of season ending tournaments should be a nice boost for next season.

Congrats to Coastal for pushing it to three games, for sure. High altitude does have its advantages and it's good to see the men's team finally have another banner to raise, even if it's not the ultimate prize...we'll take it.

So a flagrant 1 in OT when 2 girls are going after a ball over their heads and the Miss St player makes inadvertent contact to the UConn player's head?

On my way home from a bad day of dealing with horrible customer service from DirecTV and Sears, changing a relatively easy day of installs and appointments into a day of phone calls, transfers, and repeating myself multiple times, and missing any sports news today, I wondered what the reaction would be if UConn lost today...

...and then I see it actually happened. Maybe the universe was completely out of line, because DirecTV made me seriously consider switching to Comcast and Sears couldn't figure out how to leave merchandise that was delivered at our house and reschedule with the appropriately sized crew to take it up to the second floor. Instead, they made the guys put it back on the truck and take it back to the warehouse where they will then bring 2 extra guys and bring it back to our house...

...yeah, one of those days...

Crazy that UConn lost. Amazing.

And a buddy has problems with sears delivering something to his house this week as well. That company is on its last legs.

Being Mania weekend I half expected Vince to come out from the crowd and fire all the refs while rewarding UConn 4 points for not getting the original "foul" called.

South Carolina's ability to turn up the defensive intensity and make runs to get back into games is otherworldly.

SC in college has learned what Utah in the NBA has learned from the Seahawks. Foul them every play and dare the refs to call it.

I'm still amazed one day later at the stupidity of the announcers last night. The play was a clear attempt and a lob into to the post. This is why the smaller defender was leaping back and upwards on the UCONN player. The pass just happened to be delfected on the way into the post player which is why it "appeared" she was fouled away from he ball. Why they don't look at the context of a play is beyond me.

That wasn't stupidity alone.

That was a combination of bias, wishful thinking and stupidity.

Easy to get an offensive rebound when you can foul on it.

Meeks shoves him on the second rebound. That's a foul.

First one was just laziness by Bell.

He didnt shove him. He just wanted the ball more. That will never be called a foul. In any league.

Even if you think it's a foul, that's typical contact inside the paint between two big men, the refs will never call that down the line (Luke Maye traveled on his game winning shot against Kentucky). If you want the ball more then you should go get it or make sure the other team doesn't get it.

Valiant effort by Miss. State but you could see the emotional energy drain from the team in the second half. Congrats to Coach Staley and the Gamecocks.

Holy crap, the whistles in this game. I hate when refs call almost no fouls in the first half and then over compensate in the second half.

The shame is these teams really want to play fast, but the refs are having none of it. This crew should never do a big game again. Too many calls and half are wrong (and I have no dog in the fight).
