I don't believe we lost our corruption point until after the night actions processed and Jacob was killed. I think we are all villagers today. Your numbers should hold true for tomorrow except we don't know if any of us will lose more corruption points during the quests and if we have one or both ministers, they should be at 20+ (assuming they lose none during their quests today).

The day begins sadly but dutifully. The 17 of you begin to split out in three different directions, covering interviewing witnesses, checking paper trail, and investigating the area. As you move out, one of you checks by the morgue to see on the body, but it has disappeared overnight and is gone!

The group that interviews finds that there was a lot of activity, the train had just arrived after all, but it was focused here on the town, and nobody saw anything outside of it.

The group that checked the area find nothing but a few bent plants, no blood, no sign of heavy movement, nothing else.

The group that went to the library and courthouse, such as they are (Thurmond does not have official ones, just ones as part of other buildings) and manages to find something very interesting indeed.

It appears that about 20 or 25 years ago, the dates are hard to tell, land was purchased outside of the current city limits of Thurmond by one Alonzo Typer. His family built a summer estate there which later members have occupied at times for vacation, and Jacob Typer must have as well.

That brings some thoughts to your mind. Thurmond wasn’t here back then. This was very a quiet bit of land, with no roads in or out, and no people living here. Why would someone build a vacation estate here, of all places?

The Day One Task is Complete.

I suspect the Methodist Minister is still at his full allottment of corruption points and the baptist one should be at 24 from the one point we all lost everyone else should be at 19. from the one action we all know about.

As the day begins to fade, you head back to town and begin to give everyone the results. You share the adventures of the day over food, when suddenly, a large roaring whoosh sound can be heard........

As you stand up, a rush of water cascades down the New River, smashing trees and rocks alike. It’s like a dam suddenly broke and the water came out, only there are no dams on the river. Where did all of this extra water come from?

Secret Mission #1:

You may spend the evening helping to fight the flash flood. You will work on helping the locals, putting up defenses and so forth.

Post in the thread that you want to Fight the Flood in bold.

At 10 pm EST I will process the Flood and tell you what happens.

You do not know how many people are required to successfully do it.

If you Fight the Flood, results will come at 10, but you forfeit any night action you may have to do it later on Night One. It is your choice.

Hey. Looks like everything worked while I was away. I think JAG's right about the corruption points. Since we lost the points at the end of the night, there should be no cultists now. We each have a 5% chance of being converted tonight, with the possible exceptions of the ministers.
Assuming we have at least one minister who has 20+ corruption points, there is a .56 probability that at least one of us will be converted tonight

Thurmond is located at the New River Gorge right? So a large storm upstream would flood much faster around Thurmond than at other parts of the river.
I think I will Fight the Flood.

Before everyone goes nuts fighting the flood, keep in mind - this is helping the cultists figure out who's a high priority target. I a ton of us go right into the flood, that's giving the cultists a very good idea who has night actions that are useful, and who don't.

Though, on the flipside, after looking again...most of our listed night actions for roles either aren't going to be useful yet, or are non-existant.

I'm also not sure there won't be regular activities for villagers to do at night action as well. If you read Abe's write-up, it suggests there might be something happening at night that people will need to help out with:

Oh I'm totally not suggesting we don't commit a large group. But we just need to make sure we aren't tipping off our important players. Bodyguard, for example.

I would be surprised if we need more than 25% of our numbers to help with this task. (an utter guess)

Remember also it may be those same roled folks who become corrupted first.

I think we should come to a consensus on how many to send to help this. We also might want to split along class lines if possible so we can be as prepared as possible for whatever else might happen tonight.

Let me restate. Any individual who fights the flood has that count as their night action and may not take another, but result come at 10 rather than at the end of the night at 1 am, when I will process the night one

I thought it might be one half but I may have over shot how many people we need. I think we should try our best to coordinate things, and have a few people bouncing ideas off each other so that way a future cultist cannot control our planning.

Thanks Abe. With that info, scrap what I said about there being a night task coming up, I don't think that's the case. It does sound like there might be consequences for helping out though, maybe a sanity loss if it's unsuccessful or even if it is successful.

Yes, the way I read it after going back, I believe you are correct. We lost the Corruption point as a result of the night actions. It would be more accurate to describe that result as happening at the start of Day One. Since the rolls happen at night, after night actions are processed (but before results are applied), then we will not have yet suffered from the Corruption hits.

We need to be careful that in fighting this flood, we are not also revealing our roled players.

I'm not an East Coaster, so it's more likely I'll be around at deadline.

By the way, the 2 guesses of people we need fighting the flood (1/4 and 1/3) comes to 5 or 6 people. I'd have no problem with 6 people trying to stem the tide.

Fight the flood

Thinking about it, it seems like the consequences might be pretty bad if we don't succeed with this (maybe seeing people's lives getting upended by the flood if it devestates part of the town will take away corruption points). I guess tonight it might be best to be safe and presumably it will be a tougher call if there are future secret missions and fewer people to help out for those (and possibly Cultists that fake helping out or something).

Heh. We were at the Renn Faire several years back. Watching a show, drinking beer, buddy looks to me, says "A samurai and a cossack walk into a bar. That's the joke."

Yep. A guy dressed as a samurai, and a guy dressed as a cossack came in.

I do think that since this thing is a mission, that soldiers have the potential of earning a lot of XP and thus getting closer to their badassery level of +1/+1. I think coffee said that actually. Just agreeing with him.
