If Anxiety has it 6-5, then it looks like Cronin was telling the truth about his double vote.
Didn't doubt it a ton, but it was in the back of my mind ... |

You and me both, Saldana.
So, what would be an appropriate time to talk about: 1.) Your theory on the public roles/titles and impact of deaths on this 2.) Who you were talking with right before the deadline |

The votes are tabulated, and although there are five votes on both the side of saldana and Blade, the vote of your Magister carries more weight and significance, and therefore Blade is elected to receive euthanasia.
Signs of worry shows on your faces tinged with hope. Could this be another lucky break? Blade is escorted down to the ceremonial alter, tilted at a sheep angle, and tied down. He shows no resistance, no sign of anger and remorse. The Magister, st. cronin arises and asks Blade for any finals words. Blade replies simply, "Your mistake will be shown to you shortly." Your hope begins to fade. The Pontifex Maximus begins the holy utterings that should safeguard Blade's spirit. The blooding begins. Slits are made by the Euthanist in ten major arteries and veins, symbolic of the ten guilds and rule Ravnica. No Dimir would have gone to death this willingly. As Blade's physical life flows upon the floor, it magically congeals at his feet. As the last of his blood drips out, energy begins to flow from Blade's wounds, slowly at first, then faster and faster. A deep purple haze surrounds the mystical energy as it swirls around the lifeless body of Blade. The energy tightens and tightens around the body, illuminating you all with its brightness. Then, in a flash, the energy explands, exploding in a dozen lines, maybe more from the center. Deep in your souls you hear a rending growl come forth, like a primitive beast plunging itself into your very heart. Around the Orzhov compound you hear the cries of the dead. Soon, the ghosts and spirits of dead Orzhov from centuries past fill the room and their crying and wailing fills your ears with pain. You close your eyes and cover your ears to drown out the cacaphony. The screams begin to fade, not in volume, but as if the noise is being pulled elsewhere by some force. As the last scream dies away, you open your eyes to find the mystical energy spent and the lights gone. All around you hang the silent specters of Orzhov past. Unblinking they stare, and you wonder what is wrong until you realize that some of them are speaking, but no noise can be heard. Tonight there will be no hope, only despair. Rule change - Spirits may now only post once per night action, instead of three times. Night has begun. Night Actions are due at 3:30 am in six and a half hours (roughly) Tuesday Morning.

Poor blade. I think he holds the record for most first day deaths. So does saldana look more guilty? I'm really not sure what caused people to vote for blade.

I felt like I was picking between Blade and Saldana. I was 3rd in votes, and tied with an hour to go before deadline. Given that Cronin had a two vote block, I wasn't going to cast my vote for anyone besides those two.
If at the end of the game I made the wrong call - that we were not choosing between Orzhov - then I'll feel rotten about it. I generally have more fun in games when Blade is around, so it isn't like I wanted him to bow out on Day 1. |

you were picking between 2 orzhov...i would have liked to keep blade around as well...there have been many times when i have voted for someone else to keep him from dying early...however the other option in those times wasnt me.

Seriously, this was a very intriguing day. I must admit to being very confused about saldana's actions, and unlike the rest of you, I don't have past experience with him to know how he would normally act when threatened. Did it occur to any of you that he might actually be playing on your knowledge of his past actions, and counting on the exact reaction he got?
I have nothing against saldana--I just don't know what the heck is going on. Also, is st. cronin too obvious of a manipulative bastard? Am I allowed to even say that about the head master of our guild, or whatever he wants to be called. I'll bet st. cronin is an Orzhov, but a shitty person. I think there are a whole bunch of us shitty people here, but he's just more honest about it. I would tell you all that I am important to keep alive for the Orzhov, but everyone is saying that. Who do you believe? So I'll tell you it's true I am important (more than my role would suggest), but I don't expect you to believe it anymore than anyone else here. Okay, did I just get myself euthanised?

here is my theory about roles, since i said i would elaborate later...my guess is that IF someone has a secret role/magic ablitily, it is directly related to their public role.
for instance, we have seen that St. Cronin was telling the truth about his vote counting double....his secret role/power is related to his public one....that is not to say that everyone has a secret power or role, but we would be pretty shitty mages if we didnt, and Anxiety did say we all have an ace up our sleeves. the thing we dont know is...who are the traitors....we could make assumptions about powers, but that is all mute if the person in the role is a Dimir turncoat. |

You awake this morning to another day. No one died last night, thakfully. You notice the tinge of energy on the air. Is this lingering effects from Blade's death, or something else. If it is something else, does it bode good or ill?
Day Two has begun. It will end at 9:00 pm EST.

Alan, why would someone try to convert you last night after you had indicated that you were not able to be bribed?

Barkeep, that would be a different way of doing seer scans, if the person scanned gets to learn who the seer is. The circle of trust would build very quickly, I think. And protecting the seer would be even more important in this game than normal.

Perhaps belief in the Dimir's ways are not financial but instead spiritual, and those who are weak willed might be easily convinced into their teachings? Maybe people can be bribed for certain actions, but to follow their belief requires someone who is charismatic and convincing to help them be disillusioned? |

Alan, lets revisit the bribery aspect of yesterday. You seemed surprised that I wouldn't know anything about bribery. But when you expanded on this in Post #128 I had something that corresponded to my knowledge:
Quote:
I don't see a whole lot of reason to beat around the bush here - I wanted to see if you were in fact one of the true believers. As Pontifex Maximus I wield a certain amount of influence with the remaining believers. I am hopeful, but not 100% certain, that the remaining true believers start the game as Orzhov. If this is the case, then I believe that the true believers cannot be corrupted. I didn't know if there was a difference between the "true believers" spiritually and financially, as you have alluded to already. So I decided to check you out. You were convinced you were able to resist a bribe. I'm convinced that you are spiritually strong. I suspect these conditions are one and the same and that you cannot be converted by either means. |

If you are bad, then the bad guys already know of my faith after last night. I'm assuming you are aware that at night I am unbribable, unconvertable and unkillable. My faith is strong in the Orzhov and I will continue to fight for my faith.
You know alot about me, but I know very little about you. What I do know is: You were with me last night, so wern't involved in the fighting that Barkeep heard. So a question for you hoops, what were you hoping to find out about me going in, and were you satisfied? I assume now if you are good then I am in your circle of trust utmostly. I'll back off you some only because I feel if you were bad you would be trying to set me up to get people to lynch me since you can't get me at night. Since you are doing the opposite, either you are bad trying to build trust for yourself, or you are indeed good. |

Alan, I didn't know all of that about you. I knew:
1.) You had said you were not able to be bribed 2.) After our conversation I knew you were one of the men of faith left in the Orzhov council. I'm surprised you didn't learn a little more about me as we talked, frankly. I certainly didn't expect you to come out of there suspicious of me as a Dimir trying to convert you. I was attempting to verify #2 above. And to see if there was a correlation between faith and bribery. And yes, you are atop my circle of trust and it would take a very compelling argument to knock you from that spot. I don't know for sure that the faithful cannot have started as Dimir, but that seems like a very big stretch. As I stated earlier, I have some influence over the faithful, but I have no interest in exercising that influence unless my hand is forced. I would rather use my office to identify the remaining faithful and help us build a circle of trust. |

One addition - I'm not able to identify Dimir, per se. I just learn if a person is faithful. I suspect there is at least one more person out there who fits this profile, maybe two more at most. Both Alan and I had received information that there are relatively few people of faith in our Council.

So what happened to Alan is not what woke Barkeep up? But everybody is still alive? So either: failed conversion; succesful conversion; possible bribe attempt; bodyguard block; or something else I haven't thought of.
No idea who to vote for today. I guess saldana would be one way to go, since if he turns out to be dimri, that would really illuminate the day 1 vote. |

Nope, I would like to hear more about what woke barkeep up. I am pretty sure someone would know if they were involved in fighting. Did anyone else hear any fighting or only barkeep? My guess would be if only barkeep heard it, then he was the target and the bodyguard wisely chose to protect him and thwart the fighting. In which case the bodyguard would be smart to not reveal himself yet at this point. If others heard it then Im not sure we can definitly say barkeep was the target. |
