Be careful out there, Pumpy!

Bounty hunters arrested in case of mistaken identity

RAYMONDVILLE, Texas — Three bounty hunters have been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful restraint for mistakenly abducting the wrong person, authorities said.

Sheriff Larry Spence said Troy Berry, 47, of Mississippi, and Bruce Berry, 38, of Tennessee, were being held Thursday in the Willacy County Jail with bond set at $145,000.

Shane Valverde, 32, of Alice, was released Tuesday night after posting $147,000 bond, Spence said. A call to Valverde was not immediately returned Thursday.

"They had the wrong guy," Detective Andres Maldonado said. "They pretty much abducted him."

Maldonado said Valverde pulled an SUV in front of 18-year-old Ruben Sanchez's car on Monday.

"They exited the vehicle brandishing weapons — a hand-held shotgun, handguns and a Taser," Maldonado said. "They ordered Mr. Sanchez out of the car, put him in handcuffs and put him in the (SUV)."

Police stopped the bounty hunters after passengers in Sanchez's car reported the incident. Sanchez was not injured, Maldonado said.

Raymondville Municipal Judge Hector Huerta charged the men with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of unlawful restraint, Spence said. Valverde was also charged with one count of accident causing damage.

This is why Pumpy asks if you have stairs in your house. Unfortunately, these bounty hunters forgot to ask this simple and yet effective question.

Maddux came to mind first because of the recent posting in the MLB thread about his walk record. I don't know of a hockey record where a guy voluntarily stopped a good streak he had.

Awesome!

The look on her face when she's trying to think of how to pronounce your name is priceless!

Yeah, poor Shandi. She tries hard. She slurred it a little bit, but it wasn't that bad. She said my name a couple more times later in the show, and she was right on.

This brings my PlayMania lifetime winnings to $1,040. FANTASTIC!

Edit to add: My only regret is that they misspelled my name on the screen.

LOL! Love that chicken sound. It should be isolated and played to symbolize the legend that is Pumpy.

Pretending that anybody gives half a shit for a minute, I'll tell my story of the 2001 Stanley Cup Finals.

I was on vacation with my wife and two of our friends (both of them guys, so don't get excited) during those Finals. We went to Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and the three of them wanted me to walk on the beach with them while game 7 was on. Well, of course I told them that they were out of their trees. I was hoping to see the Devils repeat as champions.

They ended up going without me, but they came back before the game was over. I was still perched in front of the TV in the hotel room, right where they'd left me. The Devils fought hard, but they lost the game and the series. I was devastated. I'd never seen the Devils lose in the Finals before. My wife tried to comfort me. Our friends were indifferent, as they're not sports fans. I was actually starting to feel mad about having sat in that damn hotel room instead of going out on the beach during my vacation. All it took was one moment to change my mood.

As soon as Joe Sakic handed the Cup to Ray Bourque, I was happy. Honestly, that is probably the most enjoyable moment of NHL history that I have ever seen. If Bourque hadn't been on that Colorado team or, hell, even if Sakic had skated around with the Cup himself before handing it to Bourque, I'd probably still be angry about that night nine years ago. Instead, it was just perfect, and I really don't think any hockey moment I see for the rest of my life can top it.

Colin White and Scott Gomez can go get hit by low-flying planes for all I care, though.

Nice story. I don't think you missed out on much by choosing not to walk along a beach with a couple of dudes.
