How long should we give Miami?
We should have put a time limit on picks... as in, if you're on the clock for six hours (not including overnight) your pick gets made for you. I have lists for the next two picks after Miami and sent a PM to Leonidas this morning that he's up (and has been since 9:30 last night) We really shouldn't have to wait a full day for a second round pick! |

I say we give him until 3.
I'll PM him now, then if he doesn't pick... I'll figure out what would be best for Miami mice elf! |

I will also consider (fair) trades for the Miami pick, so if there's someone you want, PM me & Leonidas. If I make a trade down, then he might still make the pick himself... and we can keep on movin'

I offered my 6 to move up 2 spots to Leonidas' pick. Of course, even if it's acceptable, we're stuck after that.

WE HAVE A TRADE.
Miami sends their 2nd round pick, #40 overall to San Fransisco for the #42 overall choice and their 6th round pick. San Fransisco is on the clock. Last edited by M GO BLUE!!! : 04-21-2007 at 03:31 PM. |

San Francisco selects David Harris, ILB, Michigan
Very happy as Harris should be able to compete for the starting spot right away. Getting the Carriker/Harris combo would make Day 1 a slam dunk for the Niners. FYI, for anyone looking to stockpile 3rd/4th rounders...I'd be willing to deal 3(76) and two 4ths to get back into the 2nd round. |

Let's get this thing moving... Leonidas has been on the clock for 22 hours. For him, I choose...
With the 42nd pick, Miami selects Daymeion Hughes, CB, California. This pick could change if he shows up before Buffalo picks. Last edited by M GO BLUE!!! : 04-21-2007 at 07:46 PM. |

This sucks... Leonard, Hughes, and Kalil were my next anticipated picks. Give me a moment to re-check things.
I really liked the thought of Leonard on the Steelers. |

Pittsburgh selects DE Quentin Moses from the University of Georgia
Moses gives us a good, pass rushing defensive end if we decide to go to a 4-3 defense and he is athletic enough to stand up and be a big OLB should we stick with the 3-4. Either way, he is talented enough to be on the field in passing situations this upcoming season with a lot of room to improve. Adding Moses and Posluzny will give the Steelers' defense a nice infusion of youth and talent to put around All-Pros Casey Hampton and Troy Palamalu. Last edited by Swaggs : 04-21-2007 at 10:51 PM. |

I guess I'm fairly irrelevant to this anymore. I live in Europe (major time zone issues) and was doing family stuff all day, hence was not around. Doesn't seem to matter anyway.

I don't understand the rationale for complaining if skipped when one can always send a list in.

JPhillips is up, and was around before...we were having some trade discussions for this pick, but my guy was taken at 47 (I think Tank will end up being the best NT in the draft, so that was great value). I'm still considering trading for it, and he's not online right now, but it shouldn't be long.

So the trade fell through. With the 49th pick the Bengals select,
Ikaika Alama-Francis - DE He's been shooting up draft boards and I'm very happy to get him this late in round 2. Right now he's more of a run stopper than pass rusher, but that works well in combination with Geathers. He has a huge amount of upside as well. The pick gives the Bengals some flexibility with Justin Smith. They can try to trade him, pull the offer or keep him and let him walk next year.

Johnson from Georgia was who I really wanted. Since he got picked, had a trade not been made on my behalf I'd have taken Woodley. As for anyone inferring a complaint on my part, it was more an observation that a complaint. Last I checked on Thursday the draft was nowhere near my pick, and judging buy the progress made up to that point I figured the earliest I'd have to think about this is about right now. The rules got changed on the fly, it's not my highest life priority, shit happens.

Just to clarify why I made the trade and pick for Leonidas...
I wanted to be fair to all involved, including Leonidas. I had several lists waiting and had no clue if a single pick would be made on Saturday. I wanted to get things moving, but didn't want to just make the pick and move on, so I gave him five hours after sending the first PM before I made the move (which I thought was fair) and then gave another four hours on the clock after the trade before I made the pick. After sitting down and studying Miami, and comparing who was available I determined that a playmaking CB who could very well turn out to be a very good starter was a need that could be filled with Hughes. I think the real 'Fins would be very happy in the second to get him, and if they get another pick in rd 6 on top of it, I think they would be happy too. |

The New Orleans Saints select Eric Weddle S/CB Utah.
The Saints have shown their need for younger CB to replace Fred Thomas, Weddle will get his first shot there. (He played very well at CB at Utah in the past.) And if he can't be a starter there, with Harper recovering from an injury at safety and Bullocks not performing at the level we would want from a starting safety, Weddle can get his shot to start at safety. Either way, he would be another boost to a defense that needs to keep getting better. Last edited by Tigercat : 04-22-2007 at 10:08 PM. |

With the 61st pick, Baltimore selects Brandon Siler, LB, Florida.
I can't believe he lasted this long! He would immediately shore up the LB position after the loss of Thomas. He'll also provide insurance in case of another Ray Lewis injury and long-term he should be the answer in the middle. Woo-Hoo! |
