My gut tells me Autumn is lying about his role. THe preemptive reveal is exactly the type of move I would make as a wolf and I think he is nervous about getting lynched which is why he is not willing to switch.

It was all so nice and neat. You had Chief Rum ready to be strung up, but at the end an angry mob points at Jackal instead. "He's a witch! Burn him!" Before you can either hang him or burn him, he breaks free from the mob and sprints towards the forest, with minstrels blaring the way. "Brave Sir Robin ran away, bravely ran away away." The melodious music is interrupted by the sound of a tree falling on a hapless knight and you strong suspect the life of Brave Sir Robin has been snuffed out.

The Jackal was Brave Sir Robin.
