I'm not sure since I haven't played much in the last week. I wander how much of it has to do with your player's ratings because I noticed the same thing when I was playing with a lesser rated team as opposed to when I was playing with Ohio State who seemed to work the clock to below 10 seconds towards the end of the game.

Just got this game last night. On everyone's recommendation, I started out on the second-highest level. Lost badly against Dayton in my first game, then narrowly defeated Dartmouth with IU, then got crushed by Dartmouth. I suck! But it seems like a good game so far.
One complaint. The crowds look terrible in the background. Do they look better on the Xbox version? (I didn't specify the console I wanted the game for, and the clerk game me the PS2 version...) Last edited by Kodos : 12-07-2004 at 01:01 PM. |

I don't think the crowds look good on the X-Box either. I can't compare it to PS2 version, but it certainly doesn't seem to be a strength of either version.

So the main difference is that Xbox has replays after the game and at halftime?

I don't have the HDD.
Just wondering if it's worth my effort to exchange it for the Xbox version. Is online fun? Does it work with dialup? |

You can't use dialup on XBOX Live, I'm sure there is a way around that though.

What I meant was using dialup on the PS2 for online might cancel out my need to get the Xbox version for the replays. Has anyone tried it online with the PS2 using dialup?

I don't see much point in getting the Xbox version just for the replays. The replays aren't even that impressive, especially when compared to ESPN NFL 2K5. Basically, all the halftime replays show are the leading team's top scorer making a few baskets. That's it. One player making four or five baskets. The post-game replays are a little more varied, but I don't think they're all that great either.
If you like the PS2 version and are able to play it online (I have Xbox, so I have no idea), I'd suggest just sticking with that.

I'll be starting a (coach mode) Legacy tonight with the Campbell Fighting Camels. Road games at NC State, Kentucky and Tennesse.
Should get a good ass kicking a few times. I'm thinking about starting a dynasty on here or dynastymanager.com |

Maybe I'd be going too far with this, but I've seriously considered recording all of my games onto DVD with my DVD recorder and then cutting each one into highlights that I can post into a dynasty thread. I haven't started a dynasty thread, but being able to make a highlight reel would definitely be a huge impetus. I just need to persuade myself to rearrange the cables to get the DVD recorder to record output from the XBox. Five minutes of work could lead me to doing something that I think would be very cool.

My game keeps freezing on me when I go to my teams schedule screen. Usually happens when I attempt to sim to my teams next game.
Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a way to fix this?

I'm thinking that either tonight or tomorrow night I will finally start a Legacy, I just can't decide on a team and if I want to do an Open Legacy or a Career Legacy.
If I do Career I was leaning towards Dartmouth or Navy since both teams have new coaches this year. If I go with Navy I may be "David Robinson", should be an interesting ride. I like the idea of taking a lower end major conference team though and building them into a potential powerhouse. Teams Considering (All have new coaches this season): Auburn Dartmouth * Georgetown Miami (FL) Navy * St. John's Stanford Texas A&M UNLV Xavier I think Miami (FL) would be a bitch to rebuild, considering they are now in the ACC. Decisions, decisions. Last edited by Balldog : 12-10-2004 at 02:23 PM. |

Speaking of Navy, I currently have them at 8-7 and 2-2 in the Patriot League. We got annihilated by Lafayette and American, allowing over 100 points a game against them. Since that time, I decided to play a much more deliberate style of basketball and my starting PF (Parker is his name) has been lights out, averaging over 20+ ppg. Using the slow down method, I'm riding a 3 game win streak.
It's funny. You really begin to think you have the game mastered and then play a good team and feel like you're running into a buzzsaw.

Has anyone experienced a recruiting bug? Somehow it has forgotten which recruits I have contacted. The ones in the contact list are not the ones I contacted, besides one who I offerred a scholarship to.

I've never run into it (fortunately) but it is mentioned fairly frequently on Operation Sport's website. There are many bugs mentioned there, that I've luckily never run into.

Dola - this may be over obvious, but make sure you've switched your filter to show the contacted players. I've messed up my filters before.

Does ESPN even beta test their games? Again I win my conference. I won the regular season and post-season title with UCF for the second year in a row. For the second year in a row i see a Belmont team who finished 4th in conference get the trophy.

Sounds like the alphabetical bug that is talked about at Operation Sports. Fortunately, I didn't see that in my 1st season either.

That is the biggest annoyance in the game for me. There apparently is no way to view the all-conference teams! I did get a notice that my guy made it though.

The weird thing is that when I look under my coach profile it shows the correct number of regular season conference championships. But go to the trophy room, and nada.

Unfortunately, it seems as if all of Sega's 2k5 games have annoying little buggies. Too bad, becuase I like them all this year... I just find it hard to continue anything but multiplayer because of the quarks.
...and I hate it when someone says, "What do you expect for $20". What, do I need to pay $50 for a throughly tested game? Todd |

I have recruiting assistance on, and I have lost my contacts once during the season. I haven't lost them again, but I put out a scholarship offer to somebody, and he's no longer in my "contacted" list. I don't remember who he was, so I'm in a bit of a pickle. As for the conference champions bug, let me see if I get this straight. Is it just not crediting the right team with the championship, or is it putting the wrong team into the NCAA Tournament? I understand that it's frustrating if it's giving the trophy to the wrong team, but I could get over it if I had to. Now, if it gives the wrong team the automatic bid to the big tournament, that's obviously major. If it's doing THAT, I may never play the game again.

So far it only hasn't given the credit correctly. I've gotten the automatic bid everytime.

According to everything I've read, it NEVER gives the automatic bid to the wrong team. It is just giving the trophy to the wrong team (first team in alphabetical order - hence it is called the alphabetical bug.) |

I've been playing this game a ton but recently ran into a bug that is dampening my enjoyment. I'm in my 7th season as coach, and when ending that season, I get a message saying I've had a player drafted into the NBA. Then the game just freezes up. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know a way to get around this? I have a saved game right before the national championship. I have tried loading it and running through it several times, but the same thing happens.

I'd just like to point out that I haven't abandoned this idea. In fact, I just tried it, but for some reason, my DVD recorder has a lag problem. I'm not exactly sure what's causing it, but I'll give an example. When I'm at a menu screen in an XBox game, I press the A button to select something, and then about 2 or 3 seconds later, it registers on the screen. I know that the XBox is processing my button press properly (because it works when it's not connected to the DVD recorder), but I'm not seeing the results on the screen until a couple of seconds later. I can't find any information on this problem, so I'm not sure what's wrong. If I can find a fix, I'll start doing this. If I can't, I guess I won't.

I finally started my legacy mode.. as head coach of the Radford Highlanders..
2-2 after 2 games.. with a complete thrashing by charlotte(2nd game of season.. still learning how to play).. and a devastating 4 point loss at west virginia.. (i had the ball down 2 with 30 seconds left) This game definitely plays the best brand of basketball i've ever experienced in a video game.. without even messing with sliders.. |

I just got this game yesterday. I am using Jistic's MOP sliders. (You don't really change all that much). So far I'm 1-0. I won mainly because I put the FT meter on, and that makes it insanely easy ot make FTs so I'll probably take that off. I stayed close through most of the game thnks to those FTs and then made a run at the end. The team I was playing was alos on my level (we both sucked. I picked Long Island as my Legacy team). You'd think it would be very hard at the top dif. level, but it's not. It actually plays much better because your other 4 guys play better as well as the opponent.
