And I'm around just in case, but I'm guessing Karli doesn't take either of those two. If he doesn't, larry can go ahead and pick for me.

9.9 - Brock Lesnar - Other - Active - An absolute physical monster. He will be able to intimidate and dominate in all sports. Plus, who wouldn't want to have him for bench-clearing brawls?!

10.1 - Martin Dihigo - Baseball - Retired - Dihigo, Martin | Baseball Hall of Fame "Martin Dihigo was perhaps the most versatile player in baseball history. Known as El Maestro, he played all nine positions skillfully."

For the record, I had two people PM me about Lesnar.

He played in the NFL preseason, but did not make the regular season roster, nor did he play at all during college. Thus, I allowed him to count as Other.

Rule question: are we limited to two "Others" or can we short another sport to pick an additional "Other"?

FWIW, it seemed like the Others were always growing in number on Lost.

I never thought of that, but per the rules:

You are only limited to athletes in the sports. Nothing says you have to have that many.

There is only a minimum limit written for Other (Two). Nothing says you can't have more than two.

So I rule you can have as many Others as you want.

One of the best QB prospects coming into college, he was a McDonalds All American and the MVP of the McDonalds game, and he is a NFL wide reciever. A talented athlete like this should have no problems picking up the game of baseball and soccer.

I fully support this ruling. Im not exactly sure why anyone would want more "others" than specialized guys that have actually played the sports they are drafted to do well at so being a competitor in this I see no issues

my only complaint is that at this juncture someone could concede defeat in the soccer category and draft players with experience in the other 3.

the soccer category is the most difficult because it's a complete unknown. how would pele do in baseball? nobody knows. but there are plenty of american hockey players that played baseball/football still available.

i'm not raising a stink i'm just saying at this point it's kinda shitty for the guys that already drafted their soccer guys.

If they played Baseball/Football at college or pro level, regardless of their hockey experience, they cannot be selected as Other.

There is no advantage in this towards the "other" category unless someone might think track athletes are going to be better than professionals in the sports the pros are trained to play. I can see why Larry had the rule written the way it was as I wouldnt have expected any team to draft more than 2 "others" either.

hs. and below. i can think of at least 2 that are pretty well known for their baseball exploits.

especially if you tout the guy as 3 sport star in hs. that holds sway. there's no comparison in soccer.

edit: i have no problem so long as it isn't used on a hs star in one of the big 3.

dola: if you call soccer a wash you could stock up on big guys (heavyweight wrestlers, hockey, etc.) and call them o/d-linemen.

Yeah, but those heavyweight wrestlers are going to have to play the other sports. At least 5 minutes in basketball. And they will either be pitchers or a field position in baseball. If you want a heavyweight wrestler trying to field a grounder or chase a fly ball, more power to you.

This really wasn't a difficult judgment call to make. The rules are pretty clear on this. Are you suggesting I ignore the rules I wrote and arbitrarily come up with a new one? If you notice, earlier I went by the rules as written even when it went against my original intent.

This reminds me of the Hollywood Studio draft, where we had to have a certain amount of "Golden Age" picks. I actually went over that limit, because the rule only had a minimum limit, not a maximum limit.

Yes, I know he is a HoF baseball player, but he was a stud PG at San Diego State and was drafted in the NBA.

11.1 Bruce Lee, OMBE, Other, Retired

Fastest reaction times of any one. Ever. Could have hit the shit out of the ball and would have been a lock down cornerback.

Good pick. You would think with that hand/eye coordination it takes to line up a hockey puck that he would make a good baseball player.

Put up outstanding numbers for Arsenal for much of the last decade, I was debating a defender or a striker for my final soccer pick, there's a lot more name recognition with the scorer in the end.

11.10 - Michael Johnson - Other - Retired - Once considered the "World's Fastest Man" he is the fastest guy over the length of a football or soccer field. He's also got some decent size and that competitive attitude.

12.1 - Bill Belichick - Coach - Active - Arguably the greatest active NFL Coach. He lives in the film room and would have no problem studying and learning the other sports.
