Yeah, the version I'm sitting on right now has Starforce, which is why I haven't reviewed it yet - I'd be in way over my head if I tried to mess with that.
If any of the Gamenikki folks who know what they're doing wanna handle it, though (Foz?), I've got a copy waiting. |

Just a note, in case anyone was wondering, you cannot get the D2D version if you had previously bought another version.

It's really fun, but I'm not very good at it. It seems like no matter how much I upgrade my ship, I get my ass kicked by random bad guys. |

I love the progression. At the beginning, I was simply flying around, trying to trade small amounts of goods, and hoping that no one noticed me.
Now, I'm seeking out attacks into Dominator controlled systems. Let's roll! Both aspects of the game were very enjoyable. And I imagine that I will continue to enjoy it as I move toward endgame. The only thing I don't like is when I am caught on a text mission that I just cannot get. But even that feels good when I finally do beat it. www.spacerangers2.com exists, for those that don't know. |

I have it, but have spent too much time with Gal Civ and FM lately. Then with the Tour going on, I downloaded the demo for Pro Cycling Manager. I'm apparently not meant to manage a cycling team. I took T-Mobile through a mountain stage of the Tour de France, and I made Jan Ullrich cry like a baby. Under my management he has yet to finish within sight of the stage winner, and has lost as much as thirteen minutes to the Yellow Jersey in my most recent effort.

I played the shit out of this game for about a month straight and haven't played it since. Probably because I got a corrupt save file(my fault) and also cuz I got some new games since then.
I, too got the game on D2D a while back, and it works great despite a few crashes. The game autosaves after every planet, so, when you crash a game it's usually not tough to make up. |

Heh. I'm just such a fast bad-ass now. Pirates fear me. Dominators don't faze me, because I can outrun any of them as well as their missiles and torps. My favorite tactic is to lure the Dominator fleet in close to the sun/star of the system, than do a quick orbit and watch 'em cook off. Last night I swear I had around two dozen torpedoes all ignite at once when they burned up. Heh.
I made captain, and the next rank up is something like "Exterminator." Yikes. I'm having blast and it's hard to not play until the wee hours of the morning. Always a sign of a great game.

Well, you guys suckered me into buying it. Haven't had too much time to play yet, but thumbs up to Direct 2 Drive (or whatever it's called) ... worked seamlessly so far.
One thing I would note for any begginers, after the official 'training' routine is done, land on Venus again for the RTS training. Maybe I just missed it, but I don't recall the trainers telling me to go back to Venus, and I just randomly discovered the RTS training there (probably would have missed it). |

Well, I finally did it!!! I finished the game.
I really enjoyed playing it out, but it had become something of an obsession to finish. If anyone wants insights into the end game, let me know.

Inspired by WSUCougar, I just defeated my last Dominator.
Great game. I really don't normally go for these type of space games, but this one had such a nice balance and really captured the 'one more turn' feel for me. Ah well, now it's back to FM ... but money well spent. |

Bump,
wanted to thank you lot - I'm really enjoying this game, even the heavily accent English and "creative" writing (though it does wear down on you, after a while). I'm tired of going to jail though! |

"". I traded my way up initially, running away from everyone. As I progressed, I'm now definitely seeking out fights, and taking on people. One cool gadget that I got was the victory computer, which gives you odds on every opponent you can scan - its nice when I feel like getting a "Christmas Bonus" from the liner that just passed by. |

Without reading the entire thread, did anyone actually have any problems with the Starforce protection with SR2?

Not sure if people are interested in this, but somehow I never heard about it until today and I'm pretty excited.
http://www.1cpublishing.eu/game/king...egend/overview The makers of Space Rangers next game is a spiritual sequel to King's Bounty, which was the precursor to Heroes of Might and Magic, and was a game I spent many many hours playing. I don't know much else about it, but it's definitely worth keeping an eye on. I think it's actually due to be released in Russia here very shortly, but no idea on the American release. |

Anyone who missed this and has interest, Stardock is running a sale through the weekend where you can pick up Space Rangers 2 plus the expansion for $3.99.
That's quite a gaming value. Space Rangers 2 Complete Also some other good sales going on there also for GalCiv, Political Machine, and a few others. Last edited by Calis : 12-12-2008 at 06:47 AM. |

Thanks for the heads up. Bought SR2 complete ... haven't installed it yet but the online page did not specifically say the expansion was part of the SR2 complete package?

It's more of a beefy patch than an expansion, but for the price it's hard to argue. Here's the features of the expansion. * Five new text quests. * 27 new planetary battle maps. * 10 new hyperspace battle maps. * More than 50 new governmental missions of different types to complete. * New unique equipment. * Two new game modes: text-quests and planetary battles. * Improved galaxy searching system. It wasn't released as a standalone as far as I can tell, it was just retooled into the normal game which is probably why they don't specify it on the "Complete" package, but that's the only thing that sets the complete apart from just Space Rangers, so it's there. |

I've gotta say 1C is rapidly becoming my favorite game house. With this, fantasy wars and kings bounty I always have something to play.
Fantasy Wars is a Fantasy General type game and Kings Bounty is, well, a Kings Bounty type game. Two of my favorite games remade so to speak.

Thanx from me too. Quite a bargain. I played this game a ton, and then lost it when I re-installed windows, never bothering to pick it up again, but with the expansion pack it's well worth a couple bucks to give it another run-through with a fresh character.
