That works, although I like the first gen stuff best myself. You could go simple and have the bad guys be human turncoats within the federation. Or you could have someone like the Romulans/Klingons obtain an alteration device which allows them to alter their appearance to look human. Of course upon death they assume their natural form. You could use some strange form of alien that assumes human form, like the episode with the alien that sucked all the salt out of humans, killing them. Then the alien assumed the dead persons form and mingles amongst the crew targeting another victim. As it turns out in that episode a guy was on the planet and had fallen in love with the creature as it assumed the form of his dead wife to please him. That guy helped the creature catch other humans to satisfy it's salt needs. When the enterprise arrived and CPT Kirk and crew landed they found the man and his supposed wife and the adventure began. |

I wasn't thinking about TOS as Next Gen is my favorite and was going to be the setting of the game I had begun to create. But you are right there are even ways to do a WW game in the TOS universe.

I guess I should get on the list to mod a game, whenever I get mine organized, I've worked out most of the roles already.

i think peregrine should be able to jump the line...not to diss anyone that is waiting, but you wouldnt make walt disney wait in line to ride space mountain...he would be able to go to the front whenever he wants a ride

I don't know if Chubby has ever hosted, but I know Chief Rum never has. I'd hate to see someone get bumped above someone else who has never hosted and had been waiting quietly to do so.

Hey, any chance of breaking the lists into "Simple Game" and "Complex Game" since it looks like we may run two games concurrently going forward?

Mine's more on the complex side but not too complex - not like my first game, hoops' marvel game, BKs spawn game or tangle's 40k game.

God, I hope that my game is not as complex as spawn or as confusing as 40k
Seriously, I expect it will end up more in line with Anxiety's first game in terms of complexity. But, for now, I'm done threadjacking about it here. |

Do people really think we have enough people to be running two games at once? Unless we start recruiting from BGG or the mafia forum, i dont think we have the #s for two games to run at once.
Unless you are suggesting cross participation, which is i think will hinder both games as one can be taxing enough.

Blade, may I make a recommendation? Switch Chief Rum with me and then hop peregrine above me so the list looks like this:
1. Alan T 2 Chubby 3 Chief Rum 4 Peregrine 5 Me I don't mind dropping down two if it makes people happy.

We have until the 8th when alan gets back to decide, so ill wait for some input from chief/chubby before i make an official change. I think thats the fair route, though i like your idea and appreciate the sentiment behind it

Is there a way to drop formatted text or a chart into a post?
Somebody brought up tracking experience in games. I did a quick roster of who has played in which games and have total number of games per player, but it looks like crap when you just drop it into a post. |

gram, the best way to post that would probably be as a link to an html...if you want, i can put it on my website and post the link to it
very cool to have run with the idea....i just never had time to get to it. |

Sure, I can send it to you for posting, just tell me where to send it or PM me. Not sure how best to display, but it is an Excel file with the players listed by row on the left and the games listed by column. An cross referenced X shows the games in which that player participated. There is a total games column right by the names, showing your total number of games played. A mouse over on the game shows who GM'd it. On tab two, it shows the GMs and total number of games they ran. It is updated through st.cronin's current newbie game one. |

My game will be fairly complex, but not like Spawn. Maybe a shade less complicated than Barkeep's To Crown A King, but with more roles and less "points".
It would definitely be best used as a complex game in a complex-simple pair.

What is the deal with the next game? I think AlanT is up next, but I heard he was out until the 8th, is that true? If so, are we going to start with the next GM, bumping AlanT back one?

What's the reason for the cap? I mean I know that it'll be a while, but if someone else wants to host a game and they know the wait, what's the harm of letting them sign-up?

Do we really think we have the players to run both? I mean I'm all for more werewolf, but we struggled to fill out this newbie game now. I was thinking an official vanilla game every 2-3 months along with those GMs who chose to run more vanilla games, instead focusing on the setting.

i can see this as an issue, and had another thought....we have talked about having two games running at the same time...what if as GM's, we capped our signups at say, 16 players...that would give out players the opportunity to choose from two diffferent games running concurrently, and would also lend to faster games...i think the faster games idea would be welcomed, as with large number of players, it becomes hard to maintain activity, especially when you hit weekends. |

Perhaps we should start a new thread for this as there might be some people who have some thoughts about this, but aren't reading this thread?

I can't speak for others, but some of the complex games might work better with more players. I know mine is designed for a larger group (which I was going to mention once my turn came around).

Seems like we are in need of another player who'd be willing to run a small game. I haven't finished reading yet, but it seems like our small game is over, while our "main" game continues.

I say we let Chubby start his game on Monday, and since it appears Alan's game will still be going, we wait for the following Monday to start up another small game. I'd be happy to do it, but since I ran a small game recently, if anybody else wants to go ahead, they should post.

Just wondering, is there going to be a more basic game being played next week?

With Chubby's game up now, I'd like to be put back on the list at the end of the list. My next complex game is going to be the Horror Cruise. I pretty much have it in early alpha mode in planning, so should get on the list for a few months from now
